1311475 tn?1274198780 s will quit working after a wile and you cant just stop taking them you have to go off slowly to avoid seizures as for the methadone I got up to 150ml and it quit working for pain it took 6yrs but eventually even 150ml wouldn't work any more...I think its time to clean your system out and see where you stand with pain its going to take a wile to taper off both of the drugs but your no longer getting any benefits from ether so whats the point in taking them...
Avatar f tn Trams are synthetic, like the methadone I was taking, and they have an anti depressant agent as well. You have to decide what to do, but when I was running low on methadone, I would do a fast taper, so the transition into withdrawal was not so intense. I would taper down with what I had left and it did seem to make a difference. Trams aren't as strong as methadone, but the anti depressant withdrawal can be very intense. Let us know what you decide and we'll keep you company through this.
Avatar f tn im curious because ive been taking meds for a couple years substituting vics for methadone and so on and so fourth anyways im on day a two here just want too know if anyone could help me out here
Avatar f tn The clinical director of detox told me not to stop the Xanax, while in withdrawal from Methadone. She said I would have a seizure. So I'm down to 2.5mg of Methadone and tomorrow will be my first day without it. I only have about 20 days left of,Xanax. I'm without a primary doc now. Tried to get in to see one doc I knew, but he can't prescribe Xansx. I guess I will try this at home. I guess I should taper off the X. real slowly.
Avatar f tn Can Methadone Withdrawal cause a patient with Grand Mal disorder to have a Grand Mal Seizure
541465 tn?1219427886 I am sure taking one would not hurt you, but since you are on methadone it is a bad idea, because it CAN cause withdrawal because of the way it works. I have been addicted to tramadol for four years, it is just as bad as any real opiate.
Avatar n tn This individual will almost certainly experience opioid withdrawal. While "unpleasant" this will not be life-threatening. Early symptoms of withdrawal include: Agitation Anxiety Muscle aches Increased tearing Insomnia Runny nose Sweating Yawning Late symptoms of withdrawal include: Abdominal cramping Diarrhea Dilated pupils Goose bumps Nausea Vomiting http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000949.
Avatar f tn With respects to the doc at that er, the xanax withdrawal is what will kill you, not methadone or other opiate withdrawal. I'm surprised at the meds you were given; I am assuming that they figure you were too far out to worry about DTs from benzo withdrawal, but typically withdrawal from benzos (xanax or alprazolam,, valium or diazepam, ativan or lorazepam,, etc) is treated with antiseizure meds like barbiturates or depakote.
Avatar m tn opiates are a little different than benzos, yeah longer lasting opioids like methadone or suboxone are harder and longer to wd from lasting a month or more, methadone is a little harder than suboxone but both are brutal, i cant tell you how abd methadone wd's are..
Avatar f tn help me, or is this normal (and not dangerous) for methadone withdrawal? IS it methadone withdrawal or an adverse reactions to the Morphine? I want to go to the E.R., but my husband is 100% convinced it would be a waste of time, and since I don't drive, I am at his mercy. Thanks for reading!
Avatar f tn Hi I agree with the others I dont think it will help methadone is a full antagnist tram is not the relief your filling is only a plasibo effect time to just bit the bullet.. acute methadone withdrawal take 7 to 10 days to run it course then the energy crash and no sleep just hang in there keep posting for support...........
Avatar m tn Hi Truth, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. You've ask a good question and it has been answered very well by all the above members. Unfortunately there are no opiates, including tramadol (which acts much like an opiate) that are easy an easy withdrawal. The opiates you mentioned, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet all have addictive qualities. They all produce withdrawal symptoms to one degree or another when the medication is stopped. As OtisDaMan said everyone is different.
Avatar n tn i took subutex my entire pregnancy so when my daughter was born they put her on methadone. its been 8 days since her last dose. they tapered her from .5ml to .1 ml. she has been having diareah a week but she also has a cold. could she be suffering withdrawals or is it related to the cold?
Avatar m tn The ER will do very little for your withdrawal. Valium withdrawal can cause life threatening seizures and members have posted that the ER did nothing to help them taper off Valium and other benzodiazepines so I don't think they are going to do much for you. They may give you a pain shot and/or a small supply of meds to help you get over a pain flare but that is about it. With repeated visits, they may provide a referral to a pain management physician...
Avatar m tn way better than the 90 days of awfulness from methadone withdrawal ...as for the benzos ...u have to c a Dr and begin to taper them the right way.
Avatar m tn Yep right here!!...I swear, & not many people believe me, but my methadone withdrawal was almost like nothing!!...I was on it for 8yrs highest dose about 100mg, & from January to March 24, 2012 I tapered completely off...by myself..no Dr...I was 3months clean & started to have bladder/kidney pain, had some surgeries, got on oxycodone for that & am currently trying to taper off it...let me tell you, it has been beyond WORSE than the methadone!!!...
Avatar f tn I'm on week 5 of detoxing from only 60mgs of methadone (prior heavy IV heroin addict) and everyone keeps telling me it's going to get better. I feel like I have a body of a 80 year old women and I'm 33. I would rather withdrawal from heroin than methadone. It's the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
Avatar f tn please can u explain to me if it is safe to take tramadol for methadone withdraws? Try7ing to detox from 20mg methadone!
Avatar f tn Not sure which drug had the worse anxiety in withdrawal. I used methadone, pot, OxyContin, MScontin, and Valium. I think the Valium was the hardest. I cold turkey off them all at the same time. Major seizures had to stay in HOSP for a bit. Am doing great now. Still have some paws but nothing like it was before.
Avatar m tn sorry bama if i didn't specify more, really i ment to but got off track. mental withdrawal is kicking my a**. i wasn't referring to anything about the codeine i was only simply comparing the methadone with any type of opiate pill. methadone is a very strong drug and i just think it would be right that people are more educated on the pitfalls of it. when i walked in to that methadone clinic i was told nothing negative, and for 4 yrs it ruled my life.
11519729 tn?1419045607 Maybe I should better explain what I'm going through. I was on 60 mg of methadone/day. And on December 7th I took my last dose. No reduction, just 60 mg on Sunday and on Monday I took Oxycodone...which we found I'm allergic to! So now I'm on the Dilaudid, 4 mg every 4 hrs. And hearing that people are feeling withdrawal symptoms months after a last dose of methadone scares the crap out of me as I'm 63 and was on it for more than 15 yrs.
Avatar f tn Stopping methadone in any way causes withdrawal symtoms in the mother and the baby. During the first trimester this makes having a miscariage much more likely and in the 3rd it makes premature birth and stillbirth much more likely. In the 2nd trimester there is less risk but its still there and methadone causes some of the worst withdrawal of any medication and not only is the mother's body stressed but he baby goes through it as well..
Avatar f tn High dosage and long term use increases the risk and severity of dependence and withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal seizures and psychosis can occur in severe cases of withdrawal and anxiety and insomnia in less severe cases of withdrawal. Gradual reduction in dosage reduces the severity of the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. I'd rather use natural remedies like Amino acid supplements, diet and vitamins to get my neurotransmitters back up to par instead.
Avatar m tn 1) Based on the amount and length of use I described above, How bad will my Methadone withdrawal be? I already know it will start at 24 hours. When will it peak, and how long will the major physical withdrawal last? 2) Same question with the Lorazepam. How long will the any physical withdrawal last? But more important is when will the real bad emotional reaction end? 3) Should I quit the Methadone first or both at the same time?
Avatar f tn The klonopin was the option because he was told it was used to help with the withdrawal from methadone. After reading the first response he has decided to take 4mg of the klonopin daily.
1804519 tn?1316080150 Hang in there. Read other posts about this withdrawal. Its tough. Try to stay as hydrated as possible. I have never taken this so I can't offer more but I.know someone will come along and offer good support.
Avatar n tn I strongly suggest not to do so. Methadone withdrawal is one of, if not the worst withdrawal out there. 20mg is way too high to cut off cold turkey. I can almost guarantee you that you will not last. It`s going to be damn near impossible. Even if you made it through the hell of methadone withdrawal, the symptoms will last for weeks, even months after. It`s not worth it. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and hope you successfully complete your treatment.
