Tues will take lase clonidine pill then that eve switch to clonidine patch. Next day stop all methadone. Go lower if possible with your methadone before stopping. People say the lower the less withdrawal. The doc will give you clonidine and valium no problem, if you tell him what it's for, but I would only take 2.5mg valium with 50mg clonidine, I took them every 4 hours for 3 days, then once a night, I only needed the meds for 8 days. Double check with your doc this will work for you. He may want you to do something different. Best of luck to you.
I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. She's not taking anything she hasn't had before except for the B medicine so it would be nice to know what that is. Clonidine is not klonipin. It's a fairly benign drug used for high BP and for withdrawal symptoms.

Yes, I was 4 days into methadone withdrawal. It has been 6 days since I have taken the clonidine .01 mg. My heart still feels like it's beating much harder than before I took it. I have read that clonidine causes a rebound effect in blood pressure when stopped abruptly. I did not know that stopping after taking it once could cause the rebound effect.

I have recently quickly transitioned from methadone to suboxone. while on methadone for 10 years I was taking a quite high dose of clonidine for excessive sweating. The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision.

i really have only heard of this with people who take methadone because methadone has such a long and strong half life - meaning it attatches to your pain receptors in your brain like super glue, but mine was short lived and i swear it was because of the clonidine helping the withdrawal symptoms, it was severe and intense for about 5-6 hours, by that time i had already taken my full 32 mgs of suboxone and she called in a prescription for the clonidine that i took 3 times a day.
Just found a dr who gave me some clonidine .1 every 4 hours . Another dr told me to stop the methadone all at once and start taking oxidcodone. I can't handle oxidcodone that stuff makes me crazy and constipated. I feel my life is over and I can't Surrvive this alone. I just want my life back. I never used drugs before this and I am scared.
I have been on methadone for 2 1/2 years and have been tapering down for about a year of that. I am on 4mg of methadone now. It got the hardest when I got to 12mg and since 6mg it has been even more difficult. I was prescribed neurotin which has def helped witb the withdrawal and also clonidine which helps when I can't sleep. I just don't want to be dependent on another drug when im done with the methadone. I was planning on dosing to 3mg then 2mg then 1mg being on each for 4 weeks.
Withdrawals from methadone can be pretty rough. It tends to stay in your body longer so the w/d is longer too. My 2 cents is to taper down then quit.

ve heard that you must be in day 3 of withdraw before the first dose of suboxone can be taken ? is this true? I strongly suggest not to do so. Methadone withdrawal is one of, if not the worst withdrawal out there. 20mg is way too high to cut off cold turkey. I can almost guarantee you that you will not last. It`s going to be damn near impossible. Even if you made it through the hell of methadone withdrawal, the symptoms will last for weeks, even months after. It`s not worth it. it is not as much the severity of the withdrawal that makes methadone a hard detox as it is the long recovery time I was on 150mg for almost 7yrs and it took me a good 90 days to start to get better this is common with methadone withdrawal it sounds like your into the ''energy crash'' you just have to push threw and know every day clean your one day closer to getting better there are some things that help.....
