My pain management team had discussed using methadone with me for pain management. I have some nerve pain that seems to be very difficult to treat with narcotics. But after doing a lot of research, I decided that methadone wouldn't be the right fit for me. I have seen some articles recently regarding Subutex/Suboxone with regard to pain control.
Avatar n tn t get high on Suboxone but you can get high on Subutex. I think your friend may be getting Subutex, especially if your tried a peice and got high. Were you in withdrawels when you tried it? If not, it would have made you sick. And if your friend is taking the Sub. like hes supose to, he should not be able to get high on other drugs. Subutex can be broken down and shot to get high, which is why most doctors will give Suboxone.
Avatar n tn I really dont understand why your doctor did this (now I am no doc but I do know about these meds been there done that and studied a lot on them) I am now on methadone and know many that are on methadone and some that are on subutex. You really should not have went into w/d from methadone when switching to subutex unless its suboxone not subutex. Subutex dont have blockers in them like subxone does. Subutex and methadone are a lot alike so why is he using that to get you off methadone.
Avatar f tn unless u plan on being on narcotics for life..why r u switching to subutex? subutex are both bupe/a narcotic/but suboxone has naloxone in it to prevent shooting it up I would think u will have to wait until u r in wds//50 mgs of methadone is not a horribly high dose//but ten yrs is a long time..methadone has a long halfo life..often peeps have to wait up to 3 days to start sub..tapering from the methadone is what i would do..vs tapering from sub later on.and alot of cash later..
Avatar f tn t understand, and we are talking 1 page and a half of side effects of suboxone, vs. 1 small paragraph of Bupe alone, subutex. It is not here in Canada, We have a patch that lasts for 7 days with only bupenorphine in it! Very expensive! I actually find the side effects are more tolerable, still they are there! Nonetheless, as said, it beats the brutal, unbearing side effects, of toxic waste = METHADONE! and by the way I am no junkie.
Avatar n tn i have been on subutex for 2 yrs i want off can i take methadone for 3 to 4 days to get of subutex want to be normal.
Avatar f tn Felt better, but still having symptoms. The following week, my doc suggested I try subutex vs. suboxone. On July 31, I began the subutex sublingual tablets. He wrote for 8mg tabs twice a day. I took that dose for 2 days and felt amazing. The third day on subutex, I decreased to 8mg once a day, and continued to feel great ("normal"). My mood was elevated, and I felt like I had walked out of a cave and into a bright new world. Filled with inspiration!
Avatar m tn So Ive been wondering if theres a benefit of taking subutex vs. suboxone, I can only assume they have subutex for a reason, maybe it's for people like me who need the buprenorphine but dont need the naloxone. Ive never shot anything up in my life and like I said have no need to abuse suboxone. If anyone out there has some advice or info they'd like to share, I'd like to hear it all.
Avatar f tn I was on methadone for 10 years got down to 50mg and just quit, I started taking SUBUTEX 3 weeks ago. I told my husband that it was time for me to go back to my Subutex doc ( my appointment was Friday 3-19-10). He asked me how much it was gonna cost for the visit and tho get the Subutex filled. I told him $ 150.00 for the doc visit and $ 310.
Avatar f tn I immediately came clean with my obgyn and talked to a suboxone dr a week later. He gave me 3 options of methadone, subutex, or oxycodone. After doing research I believe subutex has the least withdrawals for the baby. I always thought the difference between subutex and suboxone was that you could take subutex sooner because of the lack of naloxone, but now I'm hearing you still have to be in withdrawal to take it. But you also can lose the baby if you go into withdrawal so now I am scared.
Avatar f tn Will a month of low suboxine use give my body time to kick most of the methadone? Secondly, are suboxine withdrawls as bad as methadone and how long to they last? Thanks for any advice and any advise on alternative meds (vitamins/holistic) for withdrawls.
Avatar n tn I think the tenuous FDA approval of subutex/suboxone and methadone (for pregnancy) explains the confusion about it's legitimate use for pregnant women. As far as I am aware, both suboxone/subutex carry a Class C classification for use during pregnancy. A Class C rating is described by the FDA as follows....
Avatar f tn You need to get on methadone or subutex, I am on subutex and have heard a lot better things than the methadone but methadone is also safe for you and baby. I just talked to someone who was on methadone their whole pregnancy and baby was born with no withdrawals. Just don't get too worried right now because it's still early but you need to get help as soon as you can for your baby. Be completely honest with your doctor and maybe start looking around now for a treatment clinic! Good luck!
Avatar n tn But if taken too soon after using a full opiate agonist (heroin, fentanyl, methadone, Dilaudid, Norcos, Vicoden, Oxy, etc.,) Subutex itself CAN cause precipitated withdrawal because it will act as an antagonist. I can tell you this from my own experience, I have suffered through PWs and it was kind of like, instantly going from feeling normal to instantly feeling like Day #2 of full blown heroin withdrawals in 5 minutes and nothing but shooting an ass load of Dilaudid would help it.
Avatar m tn i just took subutex because i have been coming off methadone, recently on 8mg , just took subutex am i goin g to go into instant withdrawael
Avatar f tn Hey Yall, I went to the doc today and got Subutex (not Suboxone) I'm switching from Methadone 50mg to Subutex. I took my last dose exactly 26 hours and 23 min ago, I know it's extremely pathetic that i know that. My doc told me that I could take an 8mg SUbutex as soon as i get them filled, but I panicked because of everything I've heard about going into Precipatated withdrawls, So I havent took any of them yet.
3010990 tn?1340511756 I'm just wanting advice on which medication to have from the doctors to help me threw the withdrawals and quit Heroin.. I have been on Subutex but I'm finding it very difficult to do my rattle with the Subutex..
Avatar f tn So to add to my previous post, Methadone has a long half-life, therefore it probably takes five to ten days until you no longer have any Methadone on board. The Naloxone recognizes the presence of another opiate and drops you into immediate withdrawal. You may want to get in and see your Doctor to get Suboxone unless you think you can handle it until the Methadone is completely out of your system, which could be a few more days, just my two cents anyway...
