methadone vs hydromorphone

Have you discussed with your doctor the risk of combining xanax and methadone? I was on a different benzo when on methadone but I also smoked at the time so I think that had something to do with the issues I had.

The oxy seemed to escalate quite rapidly vs increases needed when I was on hydromorph products. Which is stronger? Which is slower to build up tolerence to? Is it different for different people? I stopped taking oxy on my own, & basically brought them to the dr. & said I wasn't taking these. I had had a very very strange week of no sleeping, confusion etc. .. My husband & I figured it out to be the addition of lyrica.

nausia, my doctor has suggested hydromorphone, 24 mg twice dailly,im not sure of what to do, ive heard conflicting stories about hydromorphone.

I recently found myself in a position where I have no Vs and am unable to obtain any. My doc had given my Adderol for depression and for focusing so I can work. I find that when I'm going through the w/d, the adderol helps with the cravings and other w/d effects, except the sleepless nights, crazy legs and no appetite. I was doing up to 20 Vs a day for chronic back and neck pain from ruptured discs. So many of us have this problem.

i cant tell his doctor bc honestly idk wat he would do and we dont have insurance to pay for a methadone clinic...anyways he recently started having uncontrolable shakes and tonite was particularly worse...i thought he was screwing with me bc he was great all day...then i heard that mixing hydros n soma cause muscle skeletal problems...really idk wat could b wrong he wont let me call the er...he says hes fine...he also told me his incision started bleeding some today...

Dilaudid and Vicodin are two different drugs but both have hydromorphone. Dilaudid is pure hydromorphone which makes for a cleaner shorter detox in comparison to a synthetic opiate like suboxone, oxycodone, methadone, or Tramadol. I was by no means saying that is was EASY....Withdrawal is never EASY. But it is quicker and less painful than other synthetic opiates. I was referring to the poster who said that dilaudid w/d was like heroin w/d.

Now I take 2 Muscle relaxers, methadone 5 mg and ambian and hydromorphone 10mg at bed time to sleep. Wake to synthroid, and 2 adderall, 75mg ea and methadone 5 mg. Mid day I take 5mg methadone for pain. In the past years I have developed the following, weight gain, severe dry skin, cold body temp and freezing hands and feet. short of breath, (lung test shows nothing). depression and anti depression meds do nothing but put me to sleep. Joint pain and such.

does long term use of methadone affect you bladder i seem to want to wee all the time and its getting worse?

Hi, I was on 75mg fentenol patch for awhile. It stoped working on me, so the doctor switched me to methadone. I had no side effects from methadone. If I am right, are you taking it twice a day? Do you have a medicine for breakthrough pain between the methadone dose? Methadone is a long acting med. ususally it last up to 12 hours. I myself am on 10mg methadone 2xday. and dilauid for breakthrough(4mg). I take the methadone in the morning and at bed time. I take the others at lunch and dinner.

I've been on opiates since 07..mostly methadone..I went CT off it at 20mgs was very bad time.ok I was on 30 mgs of these perx 5 yrs now..my highest dose 40mgs..ok I tapered to 12mgs..ive been tapering 2.5 mgs every 7 days..I was thinking if I got to 5 mgs do it 14 days. I am not allowed to say that I take methadone for pain relief. I can only say that pain relief is a side effect of methadone. Well this is fine and dandy until I started to travel for work. Clinic rules are strict and impossible to follow. Today I have had 3 doctors offer to take over my care, but none of them are legally allowed to prescribe me methadone.

Im not sure how long its been since your dose of suboxone, but it always took me about 1hr before I would feel its effects. I was on methadone before going to sub, tapered down from 140mgs-30mgs, then started at 8mgs/suboxone. Im not really sure how methadone compares to morphine milligram wise, but if it doesnt help then talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose. You cant expect to feel great, but it should hold off the w/d's and cravings.
