I have been taking around 3-5 roxicodone 30mgs a day, which is about 90-150mgs, and i want to know what would be a good tapering method? I cant get suboxone or methadone. Also Roxies are the same as OCs just they are not time released.
you dont want methadone and you shouldnt need suboxone...'your on a fairly low dose, i am not one that usually gives out taper schedules...but you can try dropping 5 mgs off your dose every week so it will be a comfortable taper plan.., go slow with it if you have the time and you should do fine...

I totally agree that you need to discuss a tapering schedule with your doctor/surgeon for the methadone. Methadone has a long half life, so it does take a good while for it to be completely removed from your body - therefore, it'll be important that the taper be started far enough in advance of your surgery to allow for enough time for a proper taper according to your doctor's instructions, as well as time for the methadone to be completely eliminated from your body prior to surgery.
Hi, my name is Chris 37. I have been addicted to opiates for 10 years, on methadone for 2 years. i am on 400 ml. I have no idea how i got this high. Anyhow i have recently found out my son has been hooked on opiates for a year or so. Now he has been introduced to methadone on the streets and wants to get off of everything. I guess my question is should he try to ween off the morphine and oxys or the methadone first.

ve only been off of methadone about 2 1/2 months. Can anyone tell me how long they suffered methadone withdrawal symptoms after a long methadone addiction? Should I continue to stay on the four mg. of suboxone until they subside, or are the symptoms actually being caused by the suboxone? Needless to say, I don't sleep much at night and it drives me nuts. I do take clonodine every night and it does help.
I was in a methadone clinic for 7 months using 30mgs daily. I decided to quit last Thursday after my last dose at 9am. Its now Monday morning and i have been on suboxone since Saturday, taking 8mgs daily.
What should I do this week? Keep taking subs at 8mgs. When should i start to decrease?
I don't feel bad at all right now just a little cloudy at times and feel like I'm sober i guess. I dont get the "high" from subs like i did on methadone.
this is more than a year later and I am onehappy camper for prayers that have been answered - even if not on my time schedule - - that methadone was a monster and i had experience with about everything you can come up with - - - methadone takes the cold turkey award this year - no need for an envelope....I can tell by the pll that I am not alone.
I switched to 50mg of methadone and 40 mg of Norco for pain management. Well then I started researching methadone and realized it was not any better. So I did a taper down and then a 3 day rapid detox. I was still on the Norco 10mg 4 times a day but coming off the methadone was hell. I was in the clouds so to speak for well over 30days and could barely function. This has been a process for over 6 months btw.
I am prescribed 10mg methadone 3 times per day. I have decided to scale back a little with my doctors okay because it seemed a little too much for me. I just started methadone last week. Today at 9am I took 5mg and at 3:30pm I took 5mg. But it didn't last and I had bad pain so I took the other 5mg at 7:30pm. Now I am scheduled to take 10mg at 11:30pm. Can I take this only 4 and a half hours after taking 5mg or should I just take 5mg and go back to my regular schedule tommorrow?
and the stigma of being on methadone is no longer existing(ive defamed myself because of methadone=my family, girlfriend, friends...everyone)
IS THERE A DR. OUT THERE THAT CAN SAVE MY LIFE AND SUPERVISE A DILAUDID TAPER???(i know it sounds bizarre to ask for more narcotics but my tactic, thru research, appears to have a 99% probability of success.)
ALSO, THERE IS A VERY BOLD LINE THAT DIFFERENTIATES ADDICTION...FROM CHEMICAL DEPENDANCE. I SUFFER THE LATTER. I AM NOT ADDICTED.

And it's great that you want off. I do think, though, that you will need the support of your Dr. to do this. I am a bit concerned that you're taking methadone and a benzo at the same time. I know you don't want to hear this, but that's pretty dangerous. But it's good that you want to quit.
Check in with your Dr. and get on a good tapering schedule for both meds. Methadone, from what I've read, must be tapered, and a benzo should always be tapered.
Sorry, I've never CT off methadone BUT, I'm pretty sure chest pains are never "normal" I would say go to the ER if your having chest pains.

Hello,i am currently on my 2and attempt at Methadone Maintenance Treatment,MMT,the first time i was on MMT was 2006-2009,then I relapsed bk on heroin. I've been on MMT since May 2013 and when used correctly along with other therapies and tools, Methadone is a life saving medication and treatment program. I take 200mgs of red liquid Methadone that tastes like ***, everyday.
You're already on methadone and you really can't begin SUBOXONE until you're down to at least 30mg per day of methadone; last I knew.
When you see the doctor tomorrow, tell him you prefer to taper the methadone...if that's what you truly want. But as I said, you need to taper down to 30 mg anyway and that's well documented.
the new pain clinic wants me to take (30 mg of long acting morphine) with (10 mg of methadone) every 8 hrs.....(30 mg methadone total per day)...(90 mg morphine total per day)....the problem is getting down to 30 mg of methadone...been on at least 100 mg of methadone for 25 years ...the morphine does nothing for or does not cover the methadone withdrawals.....my new docs wanted me to get down to 30 mg methadone in 6 weeks....
Lucky for her, b/c she discovered she was pregnant at almost the same time. She began taking Methadone at a clinic immediately, and has since had a healthy, beautiful baby boy who is now almost 2 y.o. My question is this - - - her original addiction was appx. 6 months, and never involved heroine. She's been on Methadone and now Saboxone for over 2 years, and it looks like it could be a long time before she's totally weaned from all drugs. Is this reasonable?
old an have heart trouble,high blood pressure,thyroid disease,liver functions are high,and have herniated and buldging disc from Mva,and have been taking,methadone,lorcet,some,& xanax for 12 years,an i'm terrified,With my health and all the meds i take,would it be better to have an abortion?
I have been on methadone 2 yrs. I take 10 mg a day. I take for a brken lumbar and also have mitral valve prlapse. i have taken 5 mg sometimes and i can't stand the chills and sweats and cramping. How can I come off the methadone more easily. I live with the pain anyway but I can't live with dt's when I run short on the methadone. I also take corgard for my heart.
I detoxed off methadone about 4 months ago, with success. I was at 90mgs & tapered till I got down to 2mgs, I cant say it was easy, because I had some ok days & some bad days, in total it took around 1 month to start feeling better, & a additional month to feel normal. The worst for me was the fatigue & anxiety, oh & not sleeping was very difficult, but I got thru it, & so can you!
