The surgery required plastic surgery which resulted in nerve pain from my knee to my foot. It follows along the peroneal nerve. I am on gabapentin, Hydromorph Contin and Methadone to control pain. I also am taking acupuncture and trying a desensitization technique by rubbing different kinds of materials along my leg.
The pain can be quite severe.
Do you have any other suggestions that would take away the pain?
I'm on110mgs of methadone a day.I'm getting surgery very soon for my gallbladder. I've been in pain for months now i just want it out.I'm scared i will be treated different from other patents that aren't on methadone by doctors.the thing i am wondering is will my methadone block other pain medications the doctors give me.Ive had other surgery's and i know ill need them.I'm scared they will deny me the proper medications for pain because of my past.
My doctor just put me on 900mg of Gabapentin daily and it seems to help with the nerve pain alot. I ran out of my methadone lastnight and my doctor gave me a 13 count script for methadone and told me to wait until monday to fill my reg. script of 360 monthly. I love methadone for the chronic back pain it's the best thing in the world for chronic lower back pain but once you get on it , it is so hard to get off of it.
It *****, plus i was in accident about month ago, and back was messed but went away, i think the codeine and done was masking it, now i switch to suboxone and neck is killing me and headache behind eyes, as i turned head sharply to avoid airbag, that they said would have broken my nose, also i have fibromyalgia, back pain (scoliosis)! nerve pain in general! The oxys blocked the pain, lol! yet again i was never this bad! IT *****!!!!! Thank you so much everyone, godbless and namaste.
It worked very well for the chronic pain caused by nerve damage. When I was started on methadone I was told it was a very safe pain managment drug and better for me then oxycontin or other similar drugs. At the start I told my pain mangament doctor I did not want a drug that I would be addictive. I have a large pain tolerance since I usually only take motrin except for brake through pain. Mostly because I dont like the high feeling drugs give me, I am also very sensitive to drugs.
Either due to radiation therapy prior to the surgery or to the severing of nerve-endings during the surgery itself, she has suffered from severe nerve pain in that area (rectum) ever since, and has been unable to sit, stand for long or lie on her back.
For the last 9 years, she has been a pain patient. Started on OxyContin just prior to the surgery, she was moved to a prescription of 40 mg. of methadone in 2005.
I'm a pain patient. I broke my neck some years ago so sustained nerve damage although I am still mobile. I have been on Fentenyl, Oxycontin and now Methadone. I am taking myself off Methadone, with my doctor's knowledge and have been told that my lexapro is a dangerous mix with methadone as well. I stopped titrating down off methadone and now am at 30mgs per day but I am now titrating down my lexapro dose. I'm finding that both drugs are hell to detox from!
TN is not a methadone friendly state. My pain management specialist had me on methadone for 12 years after trying other optoids with no success. I regained about 70% of my ability to function and good pain relief. I was able to go back to work after a year in bed. With the controversery over the increase of methadone related deaths my doctor decided to wean me off methadone and put me on pain patches, then morphine, then oxy everything.
I have had chronic back pain for almost 2 years now. I have been to PCPs, neurologists, and spinal surgeons. I have had steroid injections (2), the first worked for 3-4 weeks, the second worked for 2-4 hours and put me in the ER with and extreme HA. I moved to Florida in late 2007 and began seeing my present PCP. Until recently he had not done any other tests. Last month he did an MRI and diagnosed me as having 2 bulging disks and spinal stenosis.

I am so tired of being on meds and no diagnosis has been made. Can you help me?
I am a 52 yr. old female and i just had surgery on my lower back to numb a few of my lower back nerves. Well this procedure seemed to kind of work for a couple of days and then back came the pain and it is worse this time It is almost unbearable and it is connstant, It hardly ever lessens up.I am on methadone for the pain but that doesn't work. I just lay in bed in excruciating pain .
I had been totally clean for 4 years then a doctor cut a nerve in my leg leaving me with a lot a pain from how I walk causing back pain. I understand denial, blame, shame, fear, guilt without saying I have been to many treatment programs. The difference is I am productive have been the 11 years, I am not using to get high but feel guilty for using help with pain. I dont think I could have a bottle of oxycontin (never have taken but sound great) or other opiates to help with the pain.
m on cymbalta, which helps aliitke but my doctor wants me to goto the local pain clinic and get methadone purscribed there, instead if going to the clinic. So instead of me taking it for drug addiction I wound take it for pain relief. don't want to be on methadone forever but I feel like if I switch I may be on it for a long time, nut I'm terrified if I get of the methadone and they try to give me a narcotic, I'm gonna give in. I would love to hear what u guys have to say.
I have been in pain management for 3 years. I currently take 15 mg of methadone and 60 mg of oxycodone 2 times a day. This is a hight dose of meds. My Doctor has told me that it is fine for me to be taking these meds. She said that there is a chance that the baby could go through withdrawels, but it would be monitored by the hospital and not to worry. I am feeling really paranoid about this, but I want to follow my doctors advice.
