Methadone nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone nausea

methadose

Avatar m tn This continued for several months with the attacks of nausea occurring weekly. When I quit smoking pot the attacks stopped and the nausea only occurred occasionally. I finally tied the attacks to most all street drugs and some prescription and over the counter drugs. So as long as I was very careful of what I took for minor pains and cold symptoms I was ok. Until now. The attacks of nausea have returned, almost daily and the nausea never stops. I don’t know what to do.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar m tn I've had hepc for 39 years and nausea was never a symptom. Perhaps in the acute stage nausea may be occur but with chronic hepc people don't generally complain of nausea unless maybe cirrhosis is present. I do not think hepc is causing the nausea. I would consult with a doctor to rule out intestinal problems and request something for anxiety.
1800740 tn?1324237171 Went to sub dr. today. Good news - he says with my insurance subs will be $50 a month. I have to pick a day for induction. He says the longer I go without methadone before "induction day" the easier it will be. My question (that I forgot to ask him) is can I take anything like Valium or nausea pills those 3-4 days while I'm going without methadone before my induction? Or will this make me sicker on induction day?
4597556 tn?1383305043 im getting off methadone was on 80mgs now im on 64mgs i dont understand im decreasing on my doses im more tired than ever i cant stay awake , its hard. why am i so tired im afraid im overdoseing im takeing bloodpressure meds only nothing else please help?
653169 tn?1303446369 I wanted to consult with a friend of mine who has a lot of experience with methadone. The nausea and depression your feeling is normal. It will go away after a couple of weeks. The headache may have something to do with the transition from the one med to the other and because the dosages may not be equal. After your body adjusts to the methadone your doctor should manipulate the dosing to get you to the proper pain relieving amounts.
10047460 tn?1407438406 I'm going on a trip and I won't have my methadone for 3 days. My doc gave me Clonidine to stop the nausea. Will that work?
Avatar f tn Hi Usertolong:) When I was on methadone I did a long and slow taper. I didn't have a bad withdrawal experience at all. I was a heroin user before so I like you worried about the detox being like that. I was taking methadone for pain at 30ml. I tapered long and slow over years and had no withdrawal symptoms. I also talked with my doctor she prescribed clonadine and nausea medication. My psychiatrist has me taking a antidepressant, mood stabilizer and a low dose benzo.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic back neck and hip pain from a car accident and have fibromyalgia and vicodin doesnt work any more so now i need to find a doctor who will write for methadone pills not liquid and a monthly script not daily clinic in mass please help me
Avatar f tn GoingTo MakeIt is correct it can be mild or severe, from my own personal experience during my detox from methadone, it was bad during the first two weeks, but I still functioned, as best as I could anyway, I tapered down from 90mgs down to 2mgs then stopped, my symtoms were like many who stop methadone, no energy, depression, bad anxiety, couldnt sleep, sneezing, etc. It has been 2 1/2 months since being off methadone & I am back to my pre-methadone days, & very happy about my success!!!
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I posted on the weekend and only got one response so I am posting again, I know that the weekends are slow, people are out and about doing their thing. I am on methadone and have been tapering since the summer of 2010 and now down to 22mgs. I am dropping my dose by 1mg/week. I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms which scares me because at this rate I still have 5 months to go to get off, that is if I am able to maintain dropping one mg/week.
1318047 tn?1274211958 I've been on methadone consistantly since i was 16, i'm 21 now. I've "succesfully" <- Ha, detoxed once before, but i had no choice. I was in jail for 90 days and couldn't do a single thing to help myself.
Avatar f tn As with heroin and all other opiates, methadone tolerance and methadone dependence usually develop with repeated doses. Tolerance to Methadone administered in a pain-control program usually occurs during the first few weeks of use; whereas respiratory depression, sedation, and nausea can be seen immediately.
Avatar f tn Hey Yall, I want to tell all of you that I could never have made it thru these last 10 days without yall.. For that I am forever greatful.. I took my last dose of methadone 10 days ago and started on Subutex. For the past 4 nights I have not been able to sleep. I am not in withdrawls anymore I just cant go to sleep. It's like when I finally get to lay my head down my mind wont stop going 90mph. I am also very very very emotional but that only really bothers me at night too.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am tapering down from methadone, was at 130mgs two years ago, and am currently at 41mgs, now tapering 2mgs/ week. I know this is a low and slow taper but still I am not feeling so great. I keep getting hot flashes, nausea and going hot and cold, it's uncomfortable. My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
Avatar n tn I am one month into the process and I taking 1/3 of my prior methadone dose. I am now starting to have increasing sweats, chills and nausea. I can only hope that I will see this through to the end. I had tried gabapentin years ago and found that I was so sleepy I could not function. I think the physician had not considered a low enough dose of methadone and probably too high a dose of gaba and the combination resulted in me sleeping 20 hours a day.
Avatar f tn Ok- I just learned that my mother who is diagnosed with hep c, end stage renal disease, receives dialysis 3x a week and is a methadone patient (100mg per day) has abused lortabs, tramadol, darvocet and flexirils (approx consumed 70+pills in one month) and eats phengran like candy..... Her nephrologist doesn't seem concerned- she had 14yrs of soberity that lead to a relapse after hystercotomy in which she started the methodone- 11years later all this has occured.
Avatar f tn After hearing possible side affects from buphrenine I deceived just to get off the methadone they are giving me oxicodone clonidine and sortable for nausea at noon today will make 48 hours no methadone sometimes I feel very week sad nausea disoriented and scared .
Avatar f tn Not sure how to work this site. I am tapering down from methadone and really need some support. It's been months and I have been doing this alone. A dr recently gave me some clonidine which helps a little but not enough. I have had awful SYMTOMS . The worse thing is the mental anguish. Sweats chills nausea shaking. I dont know how much longer my body can take this. I am 58 years old and an ER dr put me on methadone for pain but did not explain anything about it.
Avatar n tn i have a friend that is detoxing from methadone how long do symptoms last after completely off.she was only on 10 mgs a day we came off 1.25 mgs a week.
Avatar n tn I have been addicted to opiates since I was 16y/o, I am 29 years old now. I have recently got in a methadone treatment program with the intent of regaining control of my life. I am currently taking 50mg a day with success of overcoming my addiction and cravings. I have developed a new health problem that is very annoying due to my line of work. I am a server at a very nice restaurant and my sweating is causing alot of problems for me.
168732 tn?1311712079 Would appreciate any folks who actually have changed from fentanyl to methadone for chronic pain management comment on the experience and effectiveness. Very briefly; I have a messed up spine from car crash years ago and will need either fusion, implant drug pump or stimulator within months for spinal stenosis that has not been resolved with conventional treatments, X-stop, P.T., acupuncture, etc. Pain is unbearable without opiate drugs.
1126040 tn?1259755817 Damn girl! Look at you! I had a hell of a time just decreasing my methadone dose, then again I decreased from over 500mgs to 30mgs in 6 months. But thats a different story. Your will power is shown by your courage to not let a mg amount dictate when YOU are done with the Methadone System! Methadone wd's can be long and drawn out, but at 7 days you are over half way there! I dont know what they gave you to help detox with, my guess would be Clonidine. IF you have access to a Dr.
Avatar m tn I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?
1001742 tn?1252685847 So I've been off methadone for 12 days now and I know I'm not supposed to be completly normal yet. I just want to know if the following is normal: So I still get back pain but the more severe symptoms are the chronic fatigue with insomia and then the stomach pain. Every time I eat something, my stomach feels like theres a brick in it. I tried taking Tums but it doesn't work. Has anyone else dealt with or has been through the same thing?
Avatar f tn I have never used Methadone so I obviously have never withdrawn from Methadone. However, I have worked extensively with people who have withdrawn from Methadone. From my observation (and I know it was only observation accompanied by what the people were telling me), Methadone withdrawal is far more painful and grueling than Hep C treatment. My observation and understanding is that methadone withdrawal produces severe symptoms of withdrawal which last for months.
515278 tn?1318971526 Ray, my wife was on methadone for a pain-pill addiction for a little over a year. She was content to just keep taking it but I saw what it was doing to her. That **** is poison. Anyhow, I looked into ways out of it and found Suboxone, which is a "bridge drug". Under a doctors care, she dosed-down to a low methadone dose and then was off methadone for 2 days before starting suboxone. She was then on suboxone for 2 weeks before stopping it completely.
2010150 tn?1328545847 Just took my first one.....I'm pretty sure my insurance will only help pay for this for 3 mo. so, I'm going to not put getting off of this to the last minute like I did with the methadone....Once I got to 10mg of the methadone....I could feel it comin', I have a child I have to take care of I can't just stop living.....I've been on a waiting list for a medical detox in my area but as you can imagine it is long...longer than I thought....I thought I had it all planned out ....
