hi you all,.ibkleen, i was just a bit frustrated about some of the things you said about my last post.i just didn't (&don't) feel you know enough about me,my history&goals to say what you said.NOW, the point of the matter is that ihooked up with some methadone to ween off oc's & morphine. i am now taking 10-20mg. of m-done and want to also detox from the m-done.i went a little over 36hrs.
some of the elderly have feeding tubes in their tummy and the liquid is easier to put in the tube than crushing pills...as far as the methadone, my son worked in a clinic and they gave the liquid...it is also easier to do different doses as measuring liquid is easier than trying to cut pills...but I am not sure exactly why the clinic uses liquid...and perhaps some clinics use pills in other areas...
My husband is starting to taper down on methadone and we've read that there are a lot of supplements that may help. I'm getting ready to order but I wondered if anyone could recommend a good multivitamin. An article I read said that you need a multivitamin with a strong mineral component and that it should be in gel cap form only because methadone patients have poor gut function and can't absorb a regular pill as well.
s hard to say which is which because the signs are almost true for both. Water retention from Methadone will cause some swelling in the hands and feet, and if the dose is too high, he will nod off quite a bit when he is on it. I never took heroin, but I volunteer at a detox facility 3 nights a week and have been in as a patient numerous times till finally becoming sober. I have seen the damage and spoken with countless heroin users and they all have the same stories.
Central nervous system and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking soma and Methadone which cause these effects especially in elderly or debilitated patient. In my journal August. 12, 2013, I recorded wgt. 247.5 lb, BP 157/101, severe depression & anxiety with heaart palpitations and mid-nightime panic attacks. Also using CPAP setting of 14cm for severe sleep apnea, and suffered almost daily migraines. Plus my triglicerides were, as my dr put it, "through the roof!

I am being met with resistance and am concerned that the attending physician is completely in the dark about several studies regarding the negative effects of these particular drugs in elderly patients with dementia, or any helpful alternatives. Are there any alternatives to using antipsychotic medications in this case? I have a hard time believing he is being kept in this state for other than that it makes him less work for the staff. No, I don't think so it is the symptom of end of life. I lived with my father in law who was 94 years old when he came in. He's healthy, only with asthma. He offered help me to sweep the floor/yard. Hanging and picking up the clothes. He also concentrated on the weather make sure he picked up the clothes before it rained. He'll miss if he slept all the day long! LOL. He liked sleep (usually longer hour than us).
Thank you for your response. Of course I've sought therapy. I'm 68 and bi-polar. Nobody in that demographic has avoided therapy. I'm happy to have had over the years a few really good therapists. I'm looking for one of those now.
I never said my son "owes" me. (You put that word in quotation marks. Who are you quoting?) I don't consider it a debt ... it's much greater than a debt. It's a moral obligation. My father cared for and about his mother.
I had been on suboxone for a year and got pregnant my doctor lowered my dose but did not switch to subutex wich does not contain the naloxone that the suboxone has in it I have read that it can be dangerous and was wondering if any one could tell me anything about it
Has anyone experienced long term complicated grief ? I lost my brother to suicide in 2001 and it feels like he died just recently. It is still overwhelming for me and I feel like a part of me died with him. Many days I wish he had taken me with him. I also feel extremely guilty for grieving so long when I have family still living. But I can't help it. I loved my brother like we were twins. His suicide was/ is the most devastating event of my life.
would be nice though.... in my research i contiually find that methadone is the answer chronic pain that we now have in the medica materia ---- long half life and serum life mean less doseing for the patient and longer pain relief for the patient ------ and methadone appears to be the most gentle on other body parts and other organs that are damaged by our drug use......if you must be on a 24/7 narcotic for pain relief, methadone is a good choice......
