I got on the methadone to get off the heroin. Well 10 yrs later, I'm off the heroin and strung out like a dog on 180mgs of meth. So I've decided to detox. I'm going down 5mg a month. When I got to 25mg, I got so sick that I couldn't do anything and they brought me back up to 40mg. So here I sit on 40mg, paying the clinic 200.00 a month and I can't get off the last 40mg.

I am contemplating closing my boutique for a year and reopening in a new location. I am really wondering how hard it will to reopen with an 8 month old. I am pretty good at balancing a lot of things at one time. For example, I bought an aparment building, filled, it, planned and wed, and opened my boutique all in one year. However, a baby is a different scope all together, have any of you mothers tried balancing a baby and a large task like this?

I was attempting to enter a smoking sessation trial and had to go through a battery of test; one of which was a urinalysis. I did my business in a cup the first time in which they found traces of thc in my system. So two weeks later I peed in a cup again in which they found thc and methadone. Okay after the first fail I stopped smoking. It's been over 1 month since smoke any weed and it's not only still in my systerm but there's methadone as well?

Regrettably, I've been an M.M.T.(methadone maintenance treatment) patient for about 10years, give or take 6mo's or a year. I have gained a significant amount of weight since the inception of M.M.T. I'm 31 yrs. old & take 140 mg's a day. I started out on super high doses, i.e.400mg's/day,then they split my dose @190mg's in the a.m. & another 190mg's in the p.m. for about the 1st 5yrs. After the 1st 5yrs.

So I began a taper plan of 2mgs per week, I was on 90mgs so it took close to a year to be methadone free!! I have been off methadone for about 5 months & couldnt be happier! Its not easy but can be done.

TN is not a methadone friendly state. My pain management specialist had me on methadone for 12 years after trying other optoids with no success. I regained about 70% of my ability to function and good pain relief. I was able to go back to work after a year in bed. With the controversery over the increase of methadone related deaths my doctor decided to wean me off methadone and put me on pain patches, then morphine, then oxy everything.

I have been on methadone for over a year now. I got methadone for severe knee pain. I got on the clinic because I work construction and I had no insurance and I just couldn't afford any doctors. But now I have insurance and I can not find a doctor.

I would think that if you are truly addicted versus dependent, than Subutex or methadone may be a good fit for you. My pain management team had discussed using methadone with me for pain management. I have some nerve pain that seems to be very difficult to treat with narcotics. But after doing a lot of research, I decided that methadone wouldn't be the right fit for me. I have seen some articles recently regarding Subutex/Suboxone with regard to pain control.

1. That is for every dollar a government spends on methadone they save 10-40 dollars on court costs,prison costs, healthcare costs,increased productivity resulting in income tax etc... Maintenance programs are a pragmatic solution to an untenable problem. While many may argue that it is replacing one addiction for another, i believe it is a cost effective way of reintergrating addicts into the fold of mainstream society by providing stability and routine.

Im only taking like 25-30mg of Methadone a day for like 3-4 days!Im o n day 2 and feeling a lil crappy!By thurs or fri i will be going clod turkey,so now what your saying is im going to withdrawl from the Methadone also?????

s a day, one in the morning, another at 2ish, and the 3rd at night to sleep. I have a contact for Methadone which I just purchased 10 of because I only have 8 more 30's and after that I will buy them NO MORE!!!! Any advice would be WELCOME!!!!!! I know I am not looking forward to what I am about to go thru....I wasnt taking that 3rd 30 at night, but after 2 sleepless, leg jerking, cold sweating nights I had enough! THus the Methadone, I HAVE to do this....and I AM committed to Quitting....

m not an advocate of Methadone and I do beleive that Methadone is a transition to become clean and is a substitute for the other drug and the w/d from methadone will be as bad, if not worse as the others....read up on this forum to get more info and this group is very supportive. needless to say I wish i wouldve CT just the pills. Ive been off pills for 31 days and off the methadone for 11 days today. The methadone seems harder to kick for me at least... but it is doable. look for g_narly1 hes a memeber here that knows more about the methadone than I do. I was discharged from the hospital at the end of Feb. My Doctor put me on methadone for the pain. The perscription is for one month 8 pills a day. 4 (10 mg) tablets in the morning and 4 (10 mg) tablets in the evening. My concern is addiction. I currently have a vicodin addiction, but since I've been on methadone I don't crave the vicodin and I haven't went through any withdraw symptoms. Can someone give me some insight to what the probability is to me becoming addicted to methadone.?

Sub only makes sense for you as a step down (temporary) from methadone. Methadone as you know is very hard to get off of and even tougher for 18 years but it can be done. It's makes no sense to switch to sub to stay on sub from meth because meth is a better maintenence drug. It makes a lot of sense to use sub for 6-8 weeks as a step down from meth. There are outpatient clinics that specialize in this for methadone patients and give you meds for when you get off the sub.

I am getting off methadone now. I have been on them for 2 years and then for a time before that as well. I have chronic pain and the methadone does help ALOT for pain but I agree with Prospero73. THat is why I am getting off it. It is very hard to get off of though. In all honesty I would rethink going down the methadone road. Take it from some of us that have been there. This is really the wrong forum for this, but let me offer advice as a person who has used opiate analgesics for a long time, and has experience with methadone. Methadone is an effective pain medication, but is also used to treat opiate addiction. It has a very long half-life, which means that it stays in your body for a long time -- anywhere from 48-100 hours after dosing. This is one reason it is so difficult to withdraw from methadone.

For some thats methadone, for others is suboxone. For some its methadone then suboxone is the next progressive step -- all steps towards the final goal of being drug free are good ones. My opinion is that suboxone is very powerful and should be regarded as such. It should be used very carefully. Unfortunately I have talked to many people, like myself, who started the subs to avoid withdrawal and ended up in a living nightmare when eventually going through sub detox.

Sorry, I forgot to ask about methadone for bipolar...I read that methadone can help with this. I'm desparate to help my husband and keep me safe..I don't want to have to file charges against him for threatening me.

HI you can get methadose from a doctor and pick it up at a pharmacy it is methadone in pill form methadone is usually liquid and is dispensed at clinics you have to go every day to get it most doctors cannot prescribe methadone hence why so many go to the clinics this is nasty stuff I was on it 6 1/2 yrs I would run the other way if someone ever offered to me again it is not a way to get around withdrawals methadone withdrawals are some of the worst you can experence your best off to detox wha

5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to about 15 mg of methadone. But this is for single dose not for long term pain management treatment. Most physicians beleive in the good practice to start low, go slow. Remember that methadone builds up in your system. It is stored in your body tissues. So it may take days before the full effectiveness of methadone is realized. Methadone levels in the blood will continue to increase for five days from the initial dose.

I have pawned items, I have 4 payday loans out I am going to have to start paying 80 a week for my methadone treatment and I cant afford my regular meds. I work two jobs and am just not making enough and I am a month behind on rent. I would just move into a shelter until I could get these bills paid off but I have pets. I want to know how long I will need to be on the methadone until I can taper down? I am all alone I really don't have any friends I can talk to about this as no body knows.
