Avatar f tn I have been taking this dosage for about 2 years. I Have taken the oxycontin for two weeks then the methadone for two weeks. I never take them together on the same Day .....never. which one should I stop taking all together first??? I want off these pills. HELP!!
939983 tn?1262528060 5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to about 15 mg of methadone. But this is for single dose not for long term pain management treatment. Most physicians beleive in the good practice to start low, go slow. Remember that methadone builds up in your system. It is stored in your body tissues. So it may take days before the full effectiveness of methadone is realized. Methadone levels in the blood will continue to increase for five days from the initial dose.
Avatar n tn Yes, I just switched from methadone to suboxone, You will need to lower your dosage to at least 30mg but preferably 20 mg per day. Then you'll need to be in withdrawals from methadone. I waited 5 days and my switch was easy. If you don't detox from methadone you can go into precipitated wds & you don't want that! Have the doctor prescribe clonodine (blood pressure med) to ease wd symptoms. It's a lifesaver!
Avatar f tn Methadone during Pregnancy Methadone has been intensely studied for more than 50 years, and it is a confirmed safe drug for mother and child during pregnancy. As a long acting opiate, mothers taking methadone maintain a very stable level of the opiate drug in the blood, which spares the fetus the stress of intoxication and withdrawal cycling each day.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if Methadone can be used indefinately for chronic pain control???? Have a friend that was just put on it and am worried that they may have to be on it for the rest of their life... And, if you are on it for chronic pain control.. do you have to increase your dose or does it just stay the same???
Avatar n tn I did make it though and it has been 2 yrs. How long has your daughter been on methadone? She will have w/ds for at least 6 weeks .Hopefully the mental health facility can help her with that. I would say that it is definately possible for her to be having those things happen because of the intensity of w/d from methadone. Please keep us posted..
Avatar m tn Please get informed before you use subs. I hate to hear someone take a drug and THEN ask, "What's gonna happen?" I hope you are okay. Depending do dosage, it can take 3 days without methadone to induce subs. As a methadone addict, I can't even imagine precipitated withdrawal from that med. Let us know how you are.
Avatar n tn Hi fido. The correct term for the dosage is mg. I make the mistake because the methadone I get is in liquid form mixed with orange drink. It is all measured as mg.
Avatar n tn I have been on methadone for a little over 3 years and for the last 2 months I have been trying to detox myself off. I have had a real bad problem trying to get off methadone real quick, I am real confused at this moment, the dose I was taking was 120mg every morning of meth, now im down to 30mg a day. I have a hard time eating, im sweating alot, and Im not sleeping more than 3 hours a day if at all.
Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
Avatar m tn I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?
Avatar f tn Hey, have been dependant on methadone/ suboxone /subutex /methadone for 13 years. I returned to methadone as was best option during pregnancy.(fortunately baby had no withdrawal symptoms). Haven't used heroin for about 5 years but so scared of withdrawal, thought i would be on one of the above for life. Baby now 19mths & have been withdrawing slowly so can still fulfill parental (single). I am currently on 4mg and have conflicting info regarding what to do next.
Avatar n tn s hard for me to tell sometimes what is from the methadone withdrawal and what is from my other problems (severe reflux disease, pain from thoracic outlet syndrome in my arm, which is a nerve inpingement, arthritis, bone pain from cancer meds, shortness of breath on exercise, fatigue). Can you be specific about what withdrawal symptoms you've experienced? It might help me if I knew what to look out for as I get lower so I can identify problems as withdrawal related or not.
Avatar m tn Methadone withdrawal for me lasted 4 weeks before it BEGAN to subside. Oxygen withdrawal lasted 6 days before it began to subside. Methadone was hell on earth for me. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Avatar f tn Hi methadone is a lot stronger drug then most think ....even small doses are powerful but it is misleading because there is no euphoria with methadone as for morphine your conversion seam off.....when deciding to jump ship that is why I always suggest single digits it will make the withdrawal a whole lot more doable good luck and God bless........
Avatar m tn I have been on a very low dosage of methadone for 2 years. I have a protruding disc that rubs against my nerve in my lower lumbar 4 and 5. My dosage is only 5m 2x daily. This was prior to my HepC. I have my back doctor/pain management, blood doctor, liver doctor and family doctor, none of which have suggested that I do not take the meth along with my HepC meds. I never had any side effects on my meth, just no buring down my leg.
Avatar f tn Treatments lasting longer than four weeks risk developing a dependence on the drug and can experience withdrawal syndrome upon dose reduction. High dosage and long term use increases the risk and severity of dependence and withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal seizures and psychosis can occur in severe cases of withdrawal and anxiety and insomnia in less severe cases of withdrawal. Gradual reduction in dosage reduces the severity of the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome.
Avatar n tn Why are you taking such a high dosage of methadone? my suggestion is to take as little methadone as possible and wean yourself off. I have always been told that doses over 10mgs don't do anything more than 10 mgs does and that it gets harder as you get lower than 10 mgs. I have no medical knowledge but I have done more research on this than I would like to admit! Go online and research this. It helps to see it for yourself. You can do this!
Avatar n tn Several more teeth quickly followed before learning it was a possible side affect of taking Methadone for so many years. There was no warning, no pain or discomfort, and even though I had all of my teeth and only two fillings at the end of 2016, my dentist blamed me for poor dental hygiene. It now looks as if I will loose the rest of my teeth as they are rotting from the inside out. I now live cowering in my house, too embarrassed to go out due to all of my missing teeth.
Avatar n tn Recently, I went off the reservation, so to speak, for a little too long with morphine. I originally switched from Methadone to bupe, and I was sick for three days making the transition. My question is: How much time will I need to transition back from morphine to buprenorphine? I imagine it won't be as long as from Methadone. Can I do it with Suboxone, or will I need Subutex?
Avatar f tn Let me tell you, I am terrified of the withdrawal yet to come since I have to be totally off the methadone for 2 days before beginning the Suboxone. She did, however, prescribe Vistaril and some blood pressure medication which she says will help a lot. My question is: am just trading one awful thing for another? This new doc says that I'll be able to just quit the Suboxone with no trouble at all, but after doing a lot of reading, I think she's not telling me the truth.
Avatar f tn re interested in a methadone maintenance program for recovery from addiction to heroin or other opiates, there are people here who could probably advise you about that.
Avatar f tn even if you need to call to a different state. I have in my journal a great article about methadone/withdrawal written by a dr. who was also an addict for 18 yrs. it has alot of info and some things you can do to help ease some of the w/d. Just reread your question..are you wanting to take liquid?---This is what I found online .Are you sure your taking ml and not mg?
Avatar m tn Their is this other forum, lookup opiate detox and you will find people you are just dealing with Methadone along with theur expierences. I am praying God wll do for me what he may be doing for you, This all great knews, plan for some trouble, hope you have none.
Avatar m tn I`ve recently come down from 75ml to 25ml of methadone 1/1mg. On tuesday down to 20ml for 2weeks, The plan then is to swap to subutex. I have not done this before. I`ve been on methadone this time 30months. Can anyone help with what to expect? How long between last dose of methadone to 1st dose sub..? What mg of subutex would i be started on? Would there be a cluck through the transitional period? Dont see my drug worker for a week or so....
