Methadone dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone dosage

methadose

Avatar m tn If we knew what type of drugs and how much he was taking PRIOR to the methadone we may be able to give you an educated guess. The fact is though the dosage amount of the methadone is not really the issue here. The fact that your son is still very much in active addiction and playing a deadly game with some fatal combinations is the real issue. You can't blame his behavior on the methadone, thats not what is doing this.
Avatar m tn I agree! My last doc had me take 1/4 of one 8mg and waited 15 minutes then checked my vitals till I wasn't in w/d. Everyones different! And if u had methadone or other pills in your system you should've waited at least 36 hrs till u dosed on suboxone! It can put u straight into withdrawl! But listen stay on a very low dose and get off of them in a couple weeks! You can get hooked to them too!
1800740 tn?1324237171 Can you tell me what milligram dosage suboxone he will prescribe for a 30 mg per day methadone user. Suboxone is very expensive & if I need more than 8mg per day I can't afford it in addition to the cost of the dr. visits.
Avatar f tn I have been taking this dosage for about 2 years. I Have taken the oxycontin for two weeks then the methadone for two weeks. I never take them together on the same Day .....never. which one should I stop taking all together first??? I want off these pills. HELP!!
Avatar n tn I cant find any info re: a methadone patch
1502361 tn?1290540230 THAT IF YOU DRINK GRAPEFRUIT JUICE IN SAME TIME WHEN YOU DRINK YOUR DOSAGE OF METHADONE (METADON) HCL IT BECOMES MORE POTENT...IDK...DO YOU KNOW ?? === And my plans for Methadone are long,i think ,and I was adviced at my sessions that Methadone therapy should be long-lasting because long use of opiates (esspecially heroin) leads to brain chemistry disorder and disorder in it's biological sense.
210982 tn?1280983895 Yes although dosage and frequency of usage does matter. In my experience morphine, high dosage oxycontin and methadone are the most effective (and the most addicting) pain killers.
Avatar n tn I took 1/8 of the docs recommended initial dosage of methadone and decided it was just too intense for me. I've tried neurontin and all the other non-narcotic meds for neurogenic pain but they only make things worse. At this point the only meds that help are ativan and, if things are really bad, vicodin, which I use very infrequently because I understand it can be as addictive as methadone.
1436330 tn?1284666036 Yes,just follow the directions on the box/bottle. Wait a bit for relief...if it's not working take another dose. Just don't over do it! It shouldn't take much...
Avatar m tn Please get informed before you use subs. I hate to hear someone take a drug and THEN ask, "What's gonna happen?" I hope you are okay. Depending do dosage, it can take 3 days without methadone to induce subs. As a methadone addict, I can't even imagine precipitated withdrawal from that med. Let us know how you are.
Avatar n tn Im not sure how long its been since your dose of suboxone, but it always took me about 1hr before I would feel its effects. I was on methadone before going to sub, tapered down from 140mgs-30mgs, then started at 8mgs/suboxone. Im not really sure how methadone compares to morphine milligram wise, but if it doesnt help then talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose. You cant expect to feel great, but it should hold off the w/d's and cravings.
631581 tn?1224844661 t supportive of my going off methadone, going down in dosage etc. I already decreased my dose by 50% last winter because I was so lethargic-was in full pain control but couldn't function, became depressed and got into an ugly cycle. Now her fear is that I would be doing this for no reason, even after I explained my health issues. Her only option was to offer the spinal stimulator placement, which medicare has already said they won't cover.
Avatar n tn Yes, I just switched from methadone to suboxone, You will need to lower your dosage to at least 30mg but preferably 20 mg per day. Then you'll need to be in withdrawals from methadone. I waited 5 days and my switch was easy. If you don't detox from methadone you can go into precipitated wds & you don't want that! Have the doctor prescribe clonodine (blood pressure med) to ease wd symptoms. It's a lifesaver!
Avatar f tn Methadone and methadose are the same medication. Methadose (40 mg and above) comes in wafers/tablets that can be broken in halves or quarters to reach the required dosage and can be dissolved in water before taking if needed. Methadone tablets/liquid are taken whole.
Avatar n tn Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside. From what I was able to read, there are no real side effects of Methadone that would cause the issues you are experiencing. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Basically you were reducing way too quick a drop....reducing by 10mls at a time is going to feel like hell, and i'm sure it was by the sounds of it. I was on 90mls methadone 2 1/2 years ago. After a couple months I started reducing by 5mls every two weeks until I got to about 55mls. Then I dropped by 2mls every two weeks. I am finally going off methadone - cold turkey now, the day before yesterday was my last methadone dose of 2.5mls.
Avatar m tn Pharmacologic response to methadone should be closely monitored and the dosage adjusted accordingly, particularly following initiation or discontinuation of telaprevir in patients who are stabilized on their methadone regimen. Patients should be advised to notify their caregiver if they experience possible symptoms of methadone withdrawal such as restlessness, insomnia, sweating, lacrimation, and rhinorrhea. http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?
1084115 tn?1385228589 Individual patients may require additional titration of their methadone dosage when Victrelis is started or stopped to ensure clinically effective blood levels. Good luck with your treatment.!
3211536 tn?1359385569 I have been on methadone for abot 6 years and 1 1/2 year ago I decided no more. The doc and I came up with redusing 5 milligams per month.Acouple months I didn't reduse so I am behind on my timeline a little,I now take 15mg a day sometimes I can do 12 1/2 but I am working on it.I have an upcoming app. to become famiiar with the transplants and liver care clinic.Does anybody know if this will influence my chances of transplant when the time comes?
939983 tn?1262528060 I am at the end of my first week of this and not so much as a hint of withdrawal from the oxy, even though the dosage of methadone is so much lower than the dosage of oxy I was taking. PLUS (and this is the biggie) - it is costing me more than $300 a month LESS than all the oxycodone (pills and liquid) I was having to purchase every month!! Life is good!
Avatar n tn my brother took 125mgs of liquid methadone and also uses heroin he died couldthis be a overdose ?
1985289 tn?1328579594 I don't personally have any experience with methadone but wanted to welcome you to the forum. There's a member who's user name is "gnarly1" who is the forum guru when it comes to methadone. He has helped many taper off of methadone. He will notice your post here soon and reply. If for some reason he doesn't I will message him and let him know. I do know he recommends drinking whey protein shakes and also taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement.
Avatar n tn The dentist should be aware of the methadone, and the methadone clinic should be aware of the lortab. That way all is cool with everyone!!! AND you get good advice on what to do! : ))) Sorry about your mouth!

Avatar f tn Geesha, what about cyclobenzapine? And what does methadone have to do with tramadol? Methadone treats addiction problems. I'm on bupenerophine, which is kind of like methadone but supposed to be better.
