methadone detox

I stopped taking the methadone unfortunately and started back on the h. Now I get my methadone from my private doctor, and when I try to take like 50mg a day a detox like a mofo. Anyone know how to get into 90 day programs paid by the state? im from IL. Chicagoland. I also have insurance that covers 90 day programs apparently. any advice?

I am taking 17 mg of methadone daily, started 20 yrs ago, it took a long time to get down to that level. I am at 4th week of peg and ribo, and am getting ready to start victrellus. I take a vitmin for people on methadone called " VITADONE" It makes a differance with methadone side effects, and gives more energy.

I have been reading about people using methadone for a quuick somewhat painless detox. I know that there will be w/d no matter what and I also know about methadones half life and how evil those w/d are. I have 10 10mg methadones and was thinkong about taking 4 on day 1, then 3, then on day 3 taking 2 and the last on day 4. Anyone ever used or heard of this before?

ve been sober for months and I talked with my PCP and he suggested that I detox off asap from methadone. I brought up that maybe my gastroparesis is from the methadone. I'm only 26 yrs old, female, and I thought that after years of drug abuse, this was going to be the time I can finally change my life and be healthy, but it's worse than before! I can't even live!

I have read many of the posts about methadone detox but could not find any about those who have been put on Methadone as pain managment for chronic pain. Up until 2 weeks ago I had been on Methadone for a little over a year. I was not on a high does only 30-40mg a day. It worked very well for the chronic pain caused by nerve damage. When I was started on methadone I was told it was a very safe pain managment drug and better for me then oxycontin or other similar drugs.

Now this is just my opinion! Just to let you know where I'm at; I have been taking methadone for right at 2 years now and doing better now than I had in the past 9 years. I'm taking 140 mg daily and at this point and time I do not even think about coming off the methadone just for the simple fact that I do not play the hi & seek game anymore (thats when you get hi and seek more, it can be a never ending cycle).

I feel very strongly that methadone is not the best choice for drug treatment during pregnancy. I am sure you want what is best for your baby and so do I. Methadone is an opiate, very long acting one and very addictive. You are still opiate dependent and if you continue to be on methadone through your pregnancy, your child will also be born opiate dependent. Your baby will be in withdrawals after birth and will have be spend time in the Neonatal ICU to go through those withdrawal.

Please believe us when we tell you this....Get rid of that methadone now, you will regret it and methadone w/d is one of the worst if not THE worst w/d there is..you haven't been taking it long so the w/d shouldn't be full blown..

Hi there. I'm in my fifth(?) week of methadone detox. I've been on methadone for almost 14 years. My dose was 55mg a day, took me almost 3 years to taper off at 2mg a month. I guess my question is regarding the after math. What can I expect going forward? Does the brain chemistry reset after all these years? I think my biggest complaint is an energy crash in the early evening and some depression.

Hello all. I'm new here, and I'd like to share my story here, and I appreciate any input or advice. It all started after a surgery in 1999. Painkillers like lorcet and percs were precribed for post-op pain. Had complications and required painkillers for an extended period of time...3 months. Guess what? I became addicted to the Lorcet. Later found out I had degenerative disc disease. Began seeing a doc who freely wrote me Lorcet scripts.

i'm not sure which opiate your son is taking as you did not specify above.i have detoxed off of lortab & percocet at an earlier time. those are the lower end opiates & the best thing to do would be to taper him off but, that's only my opinion. i was on a methadone maintenance program they had me up to 135mgs and i tapered myself down to 10mgs for 2 months then jumped off cold turkey. methadone is compared to the street drug herion but has a longer half life meaning...

I was on methadone for years and I jumped I wasnt at a clinic, I was sick real sick but i fought through it and worked and did what i needed to do to survive I was sick i wont lie. But I did it...you can to..there is no easy way out even on a low dose you will still feel bad, luckily its only been a few months for you...so maybe not as bad IDK...

Personally, I would slow down the taper and continue going down to 0mg. 10mg doesn't sound like a lot, but methadone is a long, difficult detox. When tapered slowly down to 1mg, it will be much more tolerable. I know you are anxious to get it over with, but you have to care for your 2 year old and a slow taper allows your brain chemistry to heal as you go.

He has been on 130 mg of methadone liquid from a clinic, also has been on 800mg 3 times away of gabapentin both of which he has been on for almost a year. I am worried he will have seizures or worse. The horrible thing is the judge knew of these meds. and could have sent him to a facility equipped to help him. I am really sick over this. There should be advocates for people in his situation.

Has anyone tried Ultra Rapid Opioid Detoxification (U.R.O.D). I am on methadone and i don't want to withdrawal the methadone for 1 year. I will trawel from Norway to Belgrade for detox from methadone. I was at 150 mg, I am now at 100 mg and will try to stay at 70 mg methadone and little diazepam before detox 5 of january. Has anyone been in Belgrade in the Dr. Vorobiev and tried this detox method, either in Belgrade or US or any place with the same detox?

He told me at that point, as he was so depressed, and I helped him get onto the methadone program. Now, reading all your comments, I wonder if that was the right thing to do. My question is, has anyone done the rapid detox, or heard from anyone else about its success rate?

no matter what decision I make, as far as Methadone or Suboxen. Wish I could find a private doctor who would give me methadone and over see my detox; but that impossible to find!

maybe its a personal thing....but my habit started in '69 and just stopped last year.. I tried methadone and did detox from 85-120mg myself - - but it was really rough....and I relapsed ----- cold turkey this last time......off 400mg hydro daily ...... wasnt much fun at all and took months to get past ---- but today I have a little over a year in ... and loving it!! maybe it depends as much on individual attitude as method??

There are people on here who have also detoxed from methadone and Im sure they will be along to give you some more advice! I have never been on methadone so Im not much help to you!! So glad you found us and keep posting to let us know how you are getting on!!!
