Alprazolam (Xanax) and methadone are highly addictive narcotics, both physically and psychologically. These two drugs should never be 'mixed' or even taken relatively close to one another unless the reaction is literally being monitired by a doctor and/or medical staff. I am an addict and I know from experience how dangerous this combination can be, trust me; you're playing with fire.

they are speaking of using benzos like xanax after you have stopped the methadone and are in WDs....I have never taken methadone but my son worked at a clinic and if the person tested positive for benzos they could not have their dose and it was against the rules...You should talk to your doctor about any medications u decide to use...especially if you are still taking methadone....it is good that you are interested in quitting..lots of support here..

I cant tell you how many people died from mixing methadone and xanax but its happening at alarming rates everyday. I go to a meth clinic and had a phyc doc prescribe 2mgs 3x a day also. I dont remember most of the month if you know what I mean. GET HIM HELP NOW. Things got so bad with me I became homeless and came clean to the doc that I was an addict. They stopped the scripts and I havent taken xanax like that since. It makes the person look like theyre going to fall over just standing still.

Please help I got on methadone 4 years ago due to oxycontin and hydrocodone addiction that had been going on for 6 years......I was up close to 100mgs and have weaned down to 60mgs of methadone. I want off so bad and to top it off I have severe panic attacks and never dealt with my underlying issues regarding the addiction so I started abusing the xanax my Psychiatrist gave me.

was on klonpin 11 yrs prior to xanax.. but just methadone and xanax since 04...i know about the mix or my combo vey well on very low doses of each..the xanax 0.5 5aday..methadone 10 mgs aday..was at 1 time 160 mgs i detoxed at home 2 yrs ago..got away from it 45 days then back at the dose im at..now the questshion?? my shrink has added lamictail to my combo,,i asked him if it would had any further respatory depression..he just kinda nodded his head..wating oin his nest 8 min patient..

I was on oxy for a long time before I ever took a methadone and ya, methadone can get you pretty lit if you take a lot and it would probably appear just as if hes on oxy. As gnarly said if hes nodding out hes taking too much.

You will have to call the doctor and tell him what you were taking and ask him if it is okay. We cant and wont give you the info you are looking for. We will help you get thru this emotionally.......

I have have been on methadone & zanax for 7yrs 40mg methadone & 31/2 mg zanax and slowly tappering off the methadone 5mg a week to reach 30mg to get on bupenorphen for 1to2 months so i can get off methadone because of longer w/d so i have heard i would appriciate any info thanks

The Methadone is suppose to help with pain for at least 8-12 hours. The Methadone is a much longer and more intense w/ds do to its long legs. It lives in the body longer. Plus all of these meds change the Body and the Chemical makeup of the Brain. It is the Brain Chemistry that takes a long time to balance back and fire up again. This is why we push aftercare. If one is a Addict they have a disease, and like any disease we need help and support.

The only difference is that methadone is a full agonist and your dose can go up higher and higher. After about 50 mgs of methadone it blocks, like suboxone, the effects of other opaites so it defers abuse of other opiates.

First you need to calm down and relax......this stuff isnt a fast or easy fix. Might help if there was a little more information. How many of what strength are you doing? Almost a year.....sounds to me like you are starting withdrawls when your mind races. Its actually a classic panic attack and is quite common when quiting a narc. Check out the health discussions at right side of page. Look up the Thomas recipe and Amino Acid Protocols...and read them. Then think about using them.

Unfortunately, addiction is a disease and the addict needs to understand what this is all about and reach for help. I too mixed my Methadone with my Klons and would be in a semi comma at times. Very, very, dangerous combo.These type of meds really change the make up our brain chems and until she tries to come clean, she is thinking with a pill brain and not a real brain..Maybe this is the wake-up call she needs, so she can get the right kind of help.

i been on xanax and methadone 5 yrs everyday..am copd and sevre sleep apnea..im on low dose of both..and i never had a problem..even went to the er 5 times from the anxtys of taking it..they said as long as i been on these..its ok...so what can a person do..if your taking methadone and you hooked on both meds hmmm you have to take them..so its dam if you do and DAM if you dont... word fro the wise benzos are a cns med that enhances methadone or any narcotic..it may reduce the breathing..

I've been on Methadone 30mgs for 10 years. I was also on an antidepressant, Xanax, and Buspar. I also used Neurontin for chronic pain. I got fired from my pain management Dr. Because I continued to use the Xanax, after 3 warnings. Then my medical doc dismissed me from his care, saying I was a drug seeker. That was not true. I had called and asked for Xanax with refills, and Buspar. He saw those calls on my chart and jumped to conclusion. Also told me he doesn't prescribe pain meds.

Hello and welcome. Yes that is an extremely high dosage of methadone. Xanax and methadone are both respiratory And central nervous system depressants. They are very dangerous to take together. With that being said you need to start to taper off of both meds. A proper taper will take about a year. Are you seeing a counselor and attending support groups? There is freedom from the chains and bondage of addiction. Keep the faith.

Yes, from someone he knows, he used to take norcos, then got off those and started xanax, then off that and now methadone mostly, but he's been taking the bars more. Before the four he wasn't as bad, then he took the four and he seemed better some and was able to sleep a little.

I have 15 2 mg zanax, a high tolerance, but want to know if combining my 60 mg of meth and those xanax will end it. And if so, best chances 3 hours after I have taken the meth? or does it matter.I will be pissed off if it doesn't. If rehab isnt an option, then crawl into bed and detox at home- not with Methadone (in my opinion). Just cold turkey it and get yourself to a meeting asap! But really try for a rehab facility.. you may be able to get lots of info at your loccal NA meetings too.

s worst county jail and I am dying from wds, I had to cold turkey from over a year of constant daily use/abuse of 120 mgs of methadone and over 10mgs of xanax among other benzos on top of that and they wouldn't give me anything other than offering me a tylenol 1 time. I can truly tell you that was the scariest, worst six days of my life.
