Avatar f tn Make them aware of your ENTIRE medication list since oftentimes it is the drug-drug interactions that trigger QT prolongation and arrhythmia. 3) Is a prolonged qtc more concerning in someone with Morbitz I heart block than someone without? -- There should NOT be a elevated risk in patients with pre-existing Mobitz Type I heart block as far as prolonged QTc is concerned, since they affect separate tissues in the heart (conduction vs. contraction).
Avatar m tn The potassium ion channels have incomplete and slowed activation in LQT1-2. Your atenolol will not contribute to QTc prolongation. However, if you are on a beta blocker like this, I should tell you that there is an unspecific correlation between diastolic dysfunction and QT interval length, with diastolic dysfunction occurring in up to 50-80% of all hypertensive patients. This would be an essentially benign finding, but perhaps a sign that you need to take further steps to lower your BP.
Avatar f tn There are 2 types of LQTS (inherent and acquired)…. If your QTc was OK and then become long it could be the medication you are taking or your blood potassium or magnesium level are low… check it out.
Avatar n tn I just obtained his medical records today and im very confused. The first EKG showed a QTc of 485 (0 days old), the second (1 day old) showed a QTc of 449, and the third (2 days old) showed a QTc of 459. The notes say the first EKG shows a prolonged QT interval and the notes from the second day say, "EKG shows QTC still prolonged" and the third note says his EKG is normal???? Why is 459 normal when it is longer than 449 which was considered prolonged?
1900997 tn?1321659956 If you note in the article, concerns of the elderly are expressed concerning QTc prolongation in relation to dose and age. Though by no means am I suggesting your 45 years is equated to being elderly, it does suggest that change can occur with age, as the concerns about the phenomenon in those 60 and older is addressed. If I were in your place, I'd see about a reduction in the dosage of Citalopram and retesting at the doctor's recommended interval. http://cpnp.
460830 tn?1347219306 YOU TAKE BESIDES ERYTHROMYCIN THAT MAY AFFECT HEART RHYTHM (QTc PROLONGATION IN THE EKG). QTc PROLONGATION CAN INFREQUENTLY RESULT IN SERIOUS, RARELY FATAL, IRREGLAR HEARTBEATS. ASK FOR INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT WHETHER YOU NEED TO STOP ANY OTHER QTc-PROLONGING MEDS YOU MAY BE USING IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE RISK OF THIS EFFECT.
Avatar f tn Dear Scared, Anorexia nervosa causes a number of abnormal findings around the body, and that includes within the heart. The heart muscle can thin and be starved, which can decrease its function. As well, the body's electrolytes can be abnormal, which can alter the electrical conduction properties of the heart.
Avatar f tn follow up appointments measured it at 470, and 487. Exercise stress test showed prolongation of the QTc interval which got above 500 and also sudden drop in BP during cool down period of test. Genetic tests recently came back negative for the known mutations causing LQTS1-12. Other history: panic attacks since age 7 with very bad episodes after drinking caffeine, taking celexa, numbing shot at dentist, first few months after my daughter was born.
Avatar f tn If your QT was 448 msec and your QTc was 488 msec, your heart rate was 71 (and the anxiety was obviously not that bad). I didn't know anxiety could prolong the QT interval (in my case it shortens it) at my EKG with high anxiety and fairly low heart rate (which is uploaded on my profile) my QT was 330 msec and QTc 358 msec, but I guess people are different. A slightly long QT doesn't mean you have LQTS, which is often seen on EKG as specific changes in addition to the prolonged QT.
Avatar n tn It was the EP dr who read the ekg while I was in his office. He requested that I wear a holter monitor for 24 hours but haven't gotten results back yet. I am assuming no news is good news. Today, I went to my cardio's office for my weekly ekg and QT / QTc intervals was within normal limits. Can QT / QTc intervals be prolonged one time and normal the next time? I have had three prolonged intervals in the past 6 months but also several normal ones.
Avatar m tn Diagnosing LQTS in a patient with a borderline QTc (440 ms to 460 ms) is difficult and further testing is usually needed to determine whether the patient has QT prolongation and congenital LQTS. Factors that can increase the probability of having LQTS include resting ECG findings (specially QTc ≥480 ms), treadmill exercise test findings, history of recovered sudden death, syncope (passing out) with or without exercise, family history of LQTS or sudden death.
Avatar f tn Hi,,I'm a pain patient and been on Methadone for over a year,,,I have no known heart issues that I know of,,,But my heart is acting strange beating feels off not like extra heartbeats I've had those before with no reason found why,,years ago,,but I just want to know if u did have any heart stuff while on methadone,,,and no worries if I for a moment i thought I was having a heart attract I wd call 911 immediately, just want to see how common that is,,thanks everyone..
1124887 tn?1313754891 Hello, I had an ER visit yesterday night after having a higher heart rate than usual (172 bpm vs 155 bpm) and some PACs during jogging. Turned out just to be stress and anxiety. I'm exercising 4 times/week, 2x60 minutes jogging, 2x30 minutes running and 2x30 minutes weightlifting, and my overall physical condition level is starting to get fairly good. My BP, even at the ER, was 115/75 (it's usually lower, 105/65 or so).
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 37 yr old male and who has suffered with anxiety for many years. About 2 years ago, I discontinued taking Lexapro (took for about 8 - 10 years) and have been debating taking it again to help with my anxiety. Last year I was diagnosed with an IRBBB/Incomplete Right Brundle Branch Block. I am concerned about Lexapro and it's cardiovascular side effects, especially QT Prolongation which is listed as a potential side effect.
Avatar m tn They did add oxycodone. But you use methadone to get off of other opiates, and if you want off of methadone you have to go veryyyyyyy slowwwwww. I was on 80 mg 25 yrs. ago and it took me 18 months after a first fast 20 mg. drop and then from 60 mg. It took me the 18 months at coming down 3mg. every 3 weeks. I ended up in the er yesterday, and they said it was from detoxing too fast. My blood is all messed up. I dont know what to do to help.
Avatar f tn With regard to the LVH/LVE and the QTc prolongation, these also require actual evaluation of the ECG. The computer algorithms in these machines are far from perfect, and often overcall things. There should be at least 2 criteria on the ECG to demonstrate left ventricular hypertrophy (abnormal thickening of the left ventricular muscle), but often there is only one, which means that it's an overcall. The QTc interval is one of many interval measurements that we evaluate on the ECG.
Avatar f tn Hello, I went to a new pcp for a checkup and he heard a heart murmur, which he said was probably normal but told me to see a cardiologist to be safe. He also told me the nurse was going to give me an ecg before I left. I had the ecg and left the office. About 20 minutes later the receptionist called me and said the doctor wanted me to come back to get the ecg results to take to the cardiologist. He had writted "prolonged QTc" on the ecg.
20794198 tn?1534529493 On some of my old ecgs, I did see one of them at 66bpm and it spat out a QT of 368ms and a QTc of 385ms. Following that was one with a rate of 85bpm and it spat out a QT of 342ms and a QTc of 406ms ?? I must be reading them wrong perhaps? I did already have a stress test in 2015 on a treadmill @ 201bpm and the e.p said everything was fine.
216046 tn?1193943404 My question is, has anyone heard of lyrica causing withdrawal symptoms when taken w/methadone? I was given Tramadol(Ultram) w/ methadone and thought I was going to die with the interaction it caused!!!
Avatar f tn about is his desire to push you to methadone because of the risk of QT interval prolongation that I discussed earlier and you confirmed that was indeed the concern that your regular dr. has with you taking methadone as the risk of this irregular heart rhythm goes up as the dose of methadone increases. It seems that there is something about the morphine that didn't work for you. Did you not have adequate pain relief on the morphine? I hope you will download the .
Avatar m tn [69] While propofol is therefore preferred, careful attention should be paid to potential adverse reactions, such as hypotension, tachycardia, hypoventilation and QTc prolongation that can be associated with its administration.[68–70] Surgery performed in a cirrhotic patient, especially transplant procedures, has a unique set of challenges for the surgical team, as well as the anaesthesiologist.
Avatar f tn The QT interval varies with the heart rate and the faster the rate the shorter the QT and with slow heart rates the QT prolongs. However 695 is distinctly abnormal and clearly requires further workup. As mentioned drugs can also alter the QT interval. At slow heart rates --in the 40's the QT can approach 500 msec in normal women.
