methadone and oxycodone

Hi everyone, I have posted here just a couple times, so most of you don't really know me well. I am on 51 mgs of methadone that I started using 7 years ago when I had pain, osteonecrosis in my jawbone, the pain was unbearable and I had no break in pain whatsoever.

If a patient is on the Methadone for medicinal reasons, it will be easier for the patient to recover from the withdrawal symptoms, but if the patient has a mental addiction, the patient will be faced with craving to withdraw and take the Methadone as an out. Fortunately, Methadone does not have the same level of euphoria as do other chemical compounds, but nonetheless, it is still significant enough in the patient’s mind that it may not matter the chemical side.

The conversion to Methadone varies wildly given many different factors. Methadone is a very very tricky and difficult to convert. Methadone and another med that isn't used much (Levorphonal..sp?) have extremely long half lives on the order of DAYS. In other words it takes 2-3 days for the initial dose to reduce to 1/2 the amount.

Ive been on Methadone at 100 mg. Methadone made me very forgetful and tired ALL the time. Will Oxycodone make me feel the same way?

A word of caution, if you are subjected to urine compliance testing, or other compliance testing, they will know you ran out early of the oxycodone and increased the methadone. It is better that you discuss this with your doctor yourself, rather than him finding out because of the test results.

how much oxycodone is needed to switch from Methadone 80miligrams to Oxycodone?

Hi EVERYONE!!! I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and am precribed oxycodone. I have been on it for about 2 yrs now for arthritis in my back and knees. I take 15mg 4 times a day. I wanted to know if at this level, is this going to cause any brith defects or harm to my fetus??? If so, can you please give me some insight as to how badly the effects are??? I've been on oxycodone for years for injured and deteriorating lumbar, thoracic and cervical discs. Currently I take 30 mg oxycodone 4 times daily (sometimes more depending on the day). This works very well for my pain and restores (mostly) my ability to perform daily activities. My problem as of late is sleep. My sleep is interrupted due to pain - it affects my being able to fall asleep sometimes and without doubt gets me out of bed BEFORE I am fully rested.

I had been on the oxycodone for five and a half years, and within two days of taking 10mg methadone every four hours and using the oxycodone 15mg now every four hours for breakthrough pain, the methadone is working SO well that I don't even have to take the oxycodone every four hours, and when I do, half a tablet (as opposed to two tablets, which is the dose) is enough to control the breakthrough pain. I never would have believed it, but it is AMAZING!

I've been taking oxycodone mixed with methadone for the past year. It has recently become unavailable to me & I was forced to stop cold turkey. It's been 11 days without it now, & I've developed some issues over the past week. I can not sleep, day or night. I've gone through withdrawls before, but never had sleep issues. I'm tired, & I go to bed at a decent time (between 8-12 pm), but I just lie in bed with my eyes closed a night.

i was on methadone high and low doses...i detoxed myself off the meth...now on perks not doing anything... since im on low dose of oxycodone but have a tolerance to 10 mgs aday..can i start taking methadone after my next visit with pain management doc.. like how does perks ratio to methadone..i not wanting to ever go over 20 mgs again..was 160 mgs 3 yrs ago..a dockter got me up that high..is no longer a doc..dea got him,...

13 days ago I stopped taking 180 mg of oxycodone and started take 30 mg of methadone which i tappered down to 5 mg. I took my last dose 39 hours ago. My fiance just left me 5 days ago and I am severly depressed can i take xanax?

I just found out that because my doctors have given me clonidine Valium and oxycodone this has interfered with my detoxing off of the methadone . It's been 22 days off methadone and I couldn't figure out hy I keep having waves of anxiety and depression. I was just told by a person that it's because those other drugs have been interfering with my detox. Please I need help to get off all this crap I don't trust my doctors any more and don't know what to do .

Is on oxycodone and heart medications. Is now talking totally off topic when having a conversation. Has been on both for awhile. Ex.

I cannot sleep through the whole night i am failing in my work and am depressed and crying all the time.! I live in South America and they only have methadone here to get off of opioids. I wish i could get some type of buprenorphine product but they do not have it in Colombia where i live. I must do something now not later as iam suffering and am very tired. Van i use the methadone to get off the oxycodone very short term less than a week without getting hooked on methadone?

Am so ready to stop but cannot handle the w/d symptoms. I cannot afford rehab and I do not want to go to a methadone clinic and just end up addicted to something else. I am a recovered meth addict and I can't believe I let myself go this far. I take between 60 to 150mg per day so when I try to stop I get so sick that I can't stand it. Can you die from w/d's? It feels like I'm having a heart attack when I try to stop.

I've been on methadone/oxycodone 15mg for 3 yrs for back surgery and ddd in my neck with osteoarthritis in my hip/kneeand ankle. I came off my oxygen in may 2018 and became very depressed. can I switch back to oxygen and eliminate the methadone?

I eventually quit dilaudid as it did not help with pain...They switched me to oxycodone and uped methadone...OK, well it turns out I have one bad knee.I am scheduled to have knee replacement surgery on Novemeber 7th. I currently take 60 milligrams of oxycodone and thirty milligrams of methadone...I have been visiting this site and scared to death about getting off methadone as I am scared. Scared of withdrawals...

My husband past away while pregnant and I relapsed for a few weeks using oxycodone . At 27 weeks I quit and have been clean ever since . Will my baby still go through withdrawl .please no judgment . I know my wrongs I have battled very hard to stay clean .

well this pregnancy i am 7 weeks and i have been on oxycodone 15mg for about a year and i take it up to 6 times a day.i dont know what to do i understand that no matter if im on oxycodone or methadone my baby can withdrawl off both.my question is if i slowly taper myself off of the oxycodone n make it so i only have to take 2 a day would it b safer to stay on the oxycodone or to get on methadone?im also conserned about switching my meds while i am pregnant..

there has been so many peole n my area overdosing and dying bc they r mixing methadone and benzos togeather. plus they r also mixing methadone and other drugs , like heroin , pain killers, etc,. they keep taking more of the pills bc they r not feeling the effect of the pills bc of the methadone blocking them and then they overdose b4 they know it. its very dangerous and i also hope ur not doing this.

I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12! So, I took 60 mg of oxycodone and 40 mg of methadone, plus 1 mg of Ativan - all at once, instead of breaking doses up over the day. I slept great for the first time since the wreck - March 25, 2015! I even felt better today, and took nothing but my methadone and Ativan, until late in the afternoon. But, some people say I might not have woken up.

I have a friend who is prescribed methadone and 5mg oxycodone. And I always thought methadone was a opioid blocker. So wouldn't that bock the oxycodone??

I have neuropothy which is under control with minimal amounts of Norco and methadone ( not a user just no insurance and its cheap). I am having kidney stones and the doctor put me on Percocet and told me to stop the Norco..Is Percocet stronger than Norco? The stones are killing me.

yes but only for less 5 days i came off of oxycodone and I was clean for 2 weeks then I found some methadone i had hidden I toke it friday sat sunday then I took oxycodone on mon and tues I tried to take suboxtone wed and I felt like crap so I took more methadone yesterday and this morning 20 milligrams do you know how long it take to get adicted to methadone
