Avatar m tn I take Synthroid for hypothyroidism, and I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, I have tried several times to take calcium supplements within the guidelines when taking Synthroid, (more than 4 hours before or after taking med), and I become almost immediately exhausted, and sleep for 8-12 hours. I take only about 250 mgs of calcium, and vitamin D as well.
231441 tn?1333892766 My TSH is now and has been for some time, at 0.01, my FT's are now slightly < mid range; and my doctors keep saying that it's going to cause osteoporosis; however, I've done some research and found that not to be true. In fact, I just posted for information about that a week or so ago and was given a couple of good sites. Here's the post: http://www.medhelp.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar n tn I have started mega doses of supplements and calcium and D and excercise and I want someone to tell me that that has worked for them. Avatar f tn Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time. If you do not get enough calcium, or if your body does not absorb enough calcium from the diet, bone production and bone tissues may suffer. As you age, calcium and phosphate may be reabsorbed back into the body from the bones, which makes the bone tissue weaker. And this happens with the bones of your entire body.

Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia since a near fatal car accident 10 years ago. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone, and I have gained about 35 lbs. and I can't figure out how to stop it or why it is happening. My pain management doctor is a neurologist, and he just says it is a combination of the meds, menopause, not being as active, but he is not a diet doctor and his main concern is my pain. Is there another combination of meds that doesn't do this?
Avatar f tn 0 and TT4 around 4.5). Each SAT occurance, my iodine uptake was initially zero and TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies negative. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 2 years ago with Dexascan results having Z-scores slightly below -2.5. Recently I have been experiencing vague symptoms (fatigue, dry skin and hair, brain fog, etc.) that I attributed to recent menopause but my thyroid tests revealed the following: TSH = 4.24 (0.34-5.60) FT4 = 0.64 (0.62-1.12) TT4 = 3.9 (4.5-12.
1485696 tn?1312405527 My doctor had a bone density scan done and it showed early signs of osteopenia, not unusual for my age and for being postmenepausal. One year later, I was diagnosed with MS. Started on Copaxon, and seem to be keeping it at bay. Now, at 52, I suffered a pathological fracture of my sacrum, lifting a patient during my occupation as a paramedic. I should also mention that I have grade B spondilitis in my back at L5 and S1.

Avatar f tn The difference is detoxing is very quick and tapering is a more slow and comfortable way of getting off Methadone! Before u decide to start u need to make sure u r mentally and physically ready! Don't let anyone tell u how fast to go down. U also have alot going on that i have never dealt with and let me say, i am so sorry u r going thru all of this! I am going to do some checkin and get back to u. I promise.
Avatar f tn He said I probably have osteoporosis. I have to have another one done in a month to see if the prevlimid worked and I am worried about the same thing happening. Where else besides the hip can they do it?
Avatar n tn Are you on med for your osteoporosis? I've had osteopenia for quite a few years and have been on a dosage of calcium and have actually begun to turn it around and rebuild some of the bone I had lost. I'm not sure that can happen with full blown osteoporosis or not, but it might be worth looking into.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw. This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone? And how so?
163305 tn?1333668571 A neighbor yesterday told me she has osteoporosis and was able to stop taking the medicine because of eating almonds. Apparently not only are they high in calcium, they actually duplicate the action of the phama med. As tx and liver disease are both hard on our bones, I wanted to pass along this info about an additional way to increase our calcium intake. Almonds are now on my grocery list !
