1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar m tn This continued for several months with the attacks of nausea occurring weekly. When I quit smoking pot the attacks stopped and the nausea only occurred occasionally. I finally tied the attacks to most all street drugs and some prescription and over the counter drugs. So as long as I was very careful of what I took for minor pains and cold symptoms I was ok. Until now. The attacks of nausea have returned, almost daily and the nausea never stops. I don’t know what to do.
Avatar n tn I am one month into the process and I taking 1/3 of my prior methadone dose. I am now starting to have increasing sweats, chills and nausea. I can only hope that I will see this through to the end. I had tried gabapentin years ago and found that I was so sleepy I could not function. I think the physician had not considered a low enough dose of methadone and probably too high a dose of gaba and the combination resulted in me sleeping 20 hours a day.
Avatar f tn As with heroin and all other opiates, methadone tolerance and methadone dependence usually develop with repeated doses. Tolerance to Methadone administered in a pain-control program usually occurs during the first few weeks of use; whereas respiratory depression, sedation, and nausea can be seen immediately.
Avatar m tn I do know that being cirrhotic may bring on nausea, loss of appetite and other symptoms. When you add that to not having energy and feeling run down it could feel a bit ugly and may even resemble withdrawl in some ways. If you've already tried a dose increase and you didn't notice an increase in more energy then it could be that you will get everything back after treatment. Are you going thru a clinical trial or are you going thru the SOC treatment.?
Avatar m tn I've had hepc for 39 years and nausea was never a symptom. Perhaps in the acute stage nausea may be occur but with chronic hepc people don't generally complain of nausea unless maybe cirrhosis is present. I do not think hepc is causing the nausea. I would consult with a doctor to rule out intestinal problems and request something for anxiety.
662972 tn?1270166301 Mr Lucky66 I am on 95mg methadone and it burns a lot and mornings it sick to throw up point and if I do feel fine all I throw up is acid like stuff.
1800740 tn?1324237171 Went to sub dr. today. Good news - he says with my insurance subs will be $50 a month. I have to pick a day for induction. He says the longer I go without methadone before "induction day" the easier it will be. My question (that I forgot to ask him) is can I take anything like Valium or nausea pills those 3-4 days while I'm going without methadone before my induction? Or will this make me sicker on induction day?
Avatar m tn ve been in withdrawals now for 5 weeks. I was taking 20 to 25mg of methadone per day. He changed me to morphine and then to fentanyl patches 50mcg. He now has me wearing 2 at a time. He says it withdrawals. I don't know. I've never felt this way. I don't know if that's it or I'm having side effects from the new drugs.
4597556 tn?1383305043 Im at 64mgs right now but i get nausea, pressure on my stomach like someone sitting on ya,cold, drousy it comes and goes. But every one ive talk to said my dose is to high for witdrawls? This cones and goes. Also my pulse will be in the 50s my doctor claims thats normal, i had her reduce some of my bloodpressure meds. because i was complaining about how low my blood pressure was 110/ 58, 115/ 62 readings in that area she said thats normal. so im confused.
653169 tn?1303446369 I wanted to consult with a friend of mine who has a lot of experience with methadone. The nausea and depression your feeling is normal. It will go away after a couple of weeks. The headache may have something to do with the transition from the one med to the other and because the dosages may not be equal. After your body adjusts to the methadone your doctor should manipulate the dosing to get you to the proper pain relieving amounts.
Avatar f tn For me I wanted no withdrawals so I tapered long and got low. I used clonidine nausea meds klonapin xanax and smoked weed to help withdrawals . I felt nothing and stopped the meds still smoke though. I now have over a month and feel fine just like day one.
10047460 tn?1407438406 I agree with Gnarly...my highest, and I mean HIGHEST, dose was 45 mgs a day, it was usually 30-40 mgs a day, and I dropped 5mgs at a time at the beginning and it was pretty darn rough. I refused to go CT, I was deadset on tapering, and I think I made it harder on myself. I did the taper, and looking back now, I realize I was in withdrawal for probably 2 months longer than I needed to be. I did a 6wk taper off methadone.
Avatar f tn Hi Usertolong:) When I was on methadone I did a long and slow taper. I didn't have a bad withdrawal experience at all. I was a heroin user before so I like you worried about the detox being like that. I was taking methadone for pain at 30ml. I tapered long and slow over years and had no withdrawal symptoms. I also talked with my doctor she prescribed clonadine and nausea medication. My psychiatrist has me taking a antidepressant, mood stabilizer and a low dose benzo.
Avatar f tn I suffer from chronic back neck and hip pain from a car accident and have fibromyalgia and vicodin doesnt work any more so now i need to find a doctor who will write for methadone pills not liquid and a monthly script not daily clinic in mass please help me
Avatar f tn GoingTo MakeIt is correct it can be mild or severe, from my own personal experience during my detox from methadone, it was bad during the first two weeks, but I still functioned, as best as I could anyway, I tapered down from 90mgs down to 2mgs then stopped, my symtoms were like many who stop methadone, no energy, depression, bad anxiety, couldnt sleep, sneezing, etc. It has been 2 1/2 months since being off methadone & I am back to my pre-methadone days, & very happy about my success!!!
135222 tn?1210432488 If afer a week, and you have not changed anything. Then you might want to see the Dr. My bet is it is the methadone... Good luck, I know first hand, its a tuff road........
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I posted on the weekend and only got one response so I am posting again, I know that the weekends are slow, people are out and about doing their thing. I am on methadone and have been tapering since the summer of 2010 and now down to 22mgs. I am dropping my dose by 1mg/week. I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms which scares me because at this rate I still have 5 months to go to get off, that is if I am able to maintain dropping one mg/week.
1345272 tn?1276400328 I am currently on methadone and have been for about a year now, and i am dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression. I have been on celexa for about 7 years and the doctor decided that i have become immune to it, so he is putting me on wellburtin. I haven't tried it yet because i havent heard good things so far and am a little worried. I'm also concerned about side effects from taking the two drugs together even though the doctor said it wouldn't be a problem.
1318047 tn?1274211958 The methadone clinic i was in for 4 yrs kicked me out after i got out of jail and came back for 2 months, Because i was givin a prescription for methadone (5 whole pills, woope) and i filled it, and they found out (I don't know how), So I had to sit and talk with the clinic manager and a guy from the DEA one day, the DEA guy gave me a 3 month probation period, meaning if i did it again i'd be up **** creek and NO methadone clinic in the world would take me.
541465 tn?1219427886 I have been in the methadone program for quite sometime now. I have been taking a combination of 25-50mgs of phenergan, 1 to 2 mgs of klonopin, and 0.1mgs up to 0.3 mgs of clonodine. It always ends up making me fall asleep abnd i waste the day away. I like the feeling i get, I mean ****, anything to keep heroin away from me, but do i really need all that? cant i break a 25mg of phenegren in half and take it with my Klonopins and Clonodines.
Avatar f tn It went away for a short period along with the ear infections and other infections however now kits back and worse then before. Sometime my stomach and surrounding area is sore to the touch and my voice has been gone for over two weeks now not to mention the pain. Please help. Ive had several labs, catscan, stool testing all which came back normal a few times. Did I mention I hate needles!!!
Avatar f tn Good for you for making it through the methadone w/d.I am tapering off methadone and am at 12ml. Doctor offered me sub,but said no.The way he described it to me a person must be down to 30ml of methadone for sub to work because it has a low ceiling.Meaning that no amount of sub can work for someone at 50ml of methadone. Hope all goes well for you, methadone is a piece of Sh#%@#.
Avatar f tn the clonidine helps a lot with the sweats, chills, and blood pressure fluctuations, the benzos are extremely helpful in stopping the insane anxiety, insomnia, muscle cramping and spasms, and restlessness. then i would get OTC immodium and an anti-diarrhea, and a OTC anti-nausea medicine. i also had some ambien for sleep as well. my detox was done in a hospital supervised but you can do it on your own if you think you can handle that.
Avatar f tn We want to get off sooner than later because after December I wont have the money for methadone anymore. My father was paying for it and he is retiring and just does not have the money any more. He had given me til the end of the year before I knew I was pregnant. I was already tapering when I found out I was pregnant, and I just asked my clinic if I could keep doing it, they said ok, just get an OB to monitor you and the baby.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am tapering down from methadone, was at 130mgs two years ago, and am currently at 41mgs, now tapering 2mgs/ week. I know this is a low and slow taper but still I am not feeling so great. I keep getting hot flashes, nausea and going hot and cold, it's uncomfortable. My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
425312 tn?1279966179 If a patient is on the Methadone for medicinal reasons, it will be easier for the patient to recover from the withdrawal symptoms, but if the patient has a mental addiction, the patient will be faced with craving to withdraw and take the Methadone as an out. Fortunately, Methadone does not have the same level of euphoria as do other chemical compounds, but nonetheless, it is still significant enough in the patient’s mind that it may not matter the chemical side.
Avatar f tn At this point, even with serious pain medications - elavil -50 milligrams 3 per day, Methadone 10 mg/2 per day, and Percoset 5 mg/6 per day - the pain is overwhelming and the weakness is getting worse. These symptoms are understanding, but I'm also having bad nausea. Could the disk problems/meds be related to the nausea?
Avatar f tn In any case, Lortabs, Darvocet, and Tramadol are all opioids and should be addressed by the methadone counselor. Not sure why the counselor wouldn't be interested in knowing this... Flexiril interacts with opioids but I don't know in what way. Not sure if it has a synergistic effect or not.
