2165056 tn?1337040843 I've been on Methadone for 4three years. I began using it for migraines at 19 for migraines. I didn't have insurance, and this was available to me at no cost, and did wonders fo my toxic migraines. At one point, I topped out at 50 mg/day, but I went right back down to thirty, and have been here at 20 for over year now. I'm quitting for several r 1. I don't want to live under the power of this drug anymore. It's like waking up with a hangover every morning.
Avatar f tn The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.
Avatar m tn Do you still have migraines or headaches and how long has it been since you've been free of methadone? Congrats!

Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn I even lost the inspiration and inclination to use somewhere along my methadone path. I am 34 and had a heart attack 3 and a half months ago (I am not suggesting that it was methadone related) and I reaaally want to make something of my life, for my sake and the sake of my little girl. yeah, life is short but it is also long and I could not handle living a life of mediocrity just because I let it all pass me by...
667913 tn?1242700488 i take 10mgs of methadone a day for chronic pain management and it works very well for me. but you should probably talk with your doc about all the different migraine meds like avisg said there are a lot on the market today.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any advice, experiences, thoughts regarding going to a detox unit to come off a relatively low methadone dose (27.5mgs)? I am also on 5mg of valium, and the heart medications astrix (ie aspirin)100mgs, and Lipitor 40mgs. I am also on epilim (for migraines) 400mgs...any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hurts so bad. Only on one side. I'm 41 days free of the methadone clutch and the past few nights it keeps coming back. I'm taking naproxen and that doesn't help. Does anyone think this could be post acute withdrawal ??
Avatar n tn hun, you don't want methadone for anything unless you are terminal. it is the hardest to kick and it destroys your mind. i know, been there. took 16 days to kick it and another 20 to get more than 3 hours sleep a night. avoid it if possible. if you are having migraines, ask your dr. about imitrex. it worked for me.

Avatar f tn I was on methadone for 9 , same dose for chronic migraines and pseudo tumor cerebri my script was stolen someone I knew stole the safe I had I locked in. My dr refused to prescribe more so went cold turkey while waiting to get new appointment at a pain clinic closer to where I live. She did prescribe clonidine which I am positive helped in the beginning she also petscribed some ultram for pain control it has been ineffective and have been to the e.r. 5 times already for my severe headaches.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from Migraines since I was 17 and I just turned 33 this year. Methadone felt like my last resort when I started on it 5 or 6 years ago, but that was before I knew about the Diamond Headache Clinic. I went in there not knowing anything, and now I have a huge diet and drug change. They said I was over-medicated and they wanted me off of the methadone just as much as I wanted off of it.
Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed me Propranolol for my awful, frequent migraines. The first time I took it I felt weird. Now when I take it I feel like I am dope sick. i've tried every other medication for my migraines, but they make me feel like I just did a lot of cocaine! My heart races, my anxiety rises, I shake and can't sleep. Now I feel like it's either live with the migraines or be dope sick without migraines. HELP!!!!
Avatar f tn m allergic to sulphur so he checks a convertional chart and when writes me a script for methadone.! I have been on here before and read all the post so you can imagine my shock when he handed it to me, I told him I was very nervous about taking this. He said it was stronger then what I was on and would help. I'm so upset about this I slept on it lastnight and called him back today his nurse said she talked to him and he said how do I know it would help if I don't try it.
Avatar f tn The neurologist should star you on Clonidine to help with sedation and Topomax to avoid seizures and recurrence of migraines. You can also take an over the counter chelated magnesium that has been found helpful for migraines. I want you to make sure that you have a back up plan for dealing with your problems.
Avatar f tn Before the moniter was put on the program the officer told me I was approved to take OTC Excedrin for migraines and OTC Unisom. I took more than I should, I was having a really hard time sleeping that night. The next morning my PO calls and wants me in for a drug test. I pee, fail for Methadone (whatever that is) and then 10 mins later they say I'm fine a faint line showed up.
611067 tn?1458591483 s had and how proud I am of his successes. He is still struggling with migraines and muscle cramps, but what a great help he can be for those who are struggling with Xanax addiction. Bob, I hope you don't mind me posting this, but I admire you and your strength! You have come so far and I am thankful for your example - even during all the pain you've suffered to get where you are today!
1687072 tn?1307043528 I am almost a month out of the methadone w/d's. I went to my bi-annual MRI and neuro appointment yesterday and didn't get the news I wsnted to hear. He said because of the w/d my blood pressure was dangerously high and can put extra pressure on the AVM. He put me on blood pressure meds and a loe dose of vicodin to stop w/d's until we get the MRI results in next week. He said then we could discuss an "appropriate" way to get off the narcotics so he could monitor me.
Avatar n tn I have been on the same dose (50mgs) of methadone for severe pain control for seven years. I was recently dx. with Central Sleep Apnea, and read that it could be caused by methadone and xxanyx . . (I take.5 mgs xanyx at night for sleep). Also, I moved to Iowa recently, and my regular MD here decided she didn't want to prescribe for pain control anymore..So I'm having a hard time finding a MD to presribe methadone..but suboxin docs are easier to find (is it the money?
Avatar f tn I had stopped taking the methadone and about 48 hrs, since my last dosage I felt like I was going to die. My husband and I were terrified and went on-line to get some information. That was 2 months ago and I have read the horrible truth about methadone. I called this doctor who told me I could taper off until I am weaned completely but I tried that and had really bad side-effects. I am only taking 10 mgs a day, but my symptoms are pretty painful.
Avatar f tn The only way I could figure out how to join ya'll is to post a question...I became addicted at age 42 to a prescription of percocet (shockingly. Never a drinker, partier, nada) and admitted myself to an inpatient facility that worked wonders in 2005.. Became very involved in N/A, stayed clean but relapsed a year and a half ago so was advised to try a methadone clinic.. I was detoxed on methadone for the first three days of treatment and no dt's!..

Avatar f tn I have numbness to both feet and some in lower legs now. I am prescribed Oxycontin 40 twice a day and Panadeine forte BT and Oxycodone 20mgs 3rd hourly. I have worsening pain to the area of surgery and now can only find pain relief laying down. If I go walking or standing for too long the pain is unbearable. Am I on a very high pain relief regime?
