There is also a family history of early menopause and my hormone levels show I am in that range. I have not been on birth control for 8 years and have never gotten pregnant so that was an issue also. My thyroid tested fine but my blood sugar level wasn't. My primary care Dr. started me on 500mg Metformin once daily for this and possibly PCOS. I've been on it for about 3 weeks now. My question is basically will any of this affect my methadone dose at all?
I went c/t off of 25 mgs of methadone and the cold chills lasted about a month for me,as well as the sweats.It might be a little less for you because you tapered.Just hang in there it will pass.Congrats on what is now day 4 for you,thats terrific....Peace...
I know during perimenopause that heart palps are one of the symptoms. My question has to do with post-menopause. I just wanted to know if there's anyone out there who knows whether i could still be having any kind of symptoms due to hormone fluctuations or at this point (since i haven't had a period if 3 or 4 years), would my palps be due to something else entirely and not associated with menopause.

I became pregnant at age 27, had just begun Methadone maintenance, and they kept upping my dose for fear that the baby would spontaneously abort if I had withdrawal symptoms. After she was born, they used tiny amounts of Morphine until she was ready to come home. She is a thriving 13 year old with straight a's, plays the trombone, and very well adjusted.
Hello Dan My Boy Friend is 49 and he has been on Methadone for 75 days. I am so proud of him and hate him at the same time.Please understand I love him with all my heart and would do anything for him. When we first met he was addicted to opiates . I didn;t know because he hid it at first then he had to have gallbladder surgery and it was all out in the open then,,,I was drug to every hospital around our state and then some in near by states. I did not want to keep on going up and get into a mess. I am a recoverying on/off addict! Went to him and he put me on methadone to get off of the hydros. Short term. Then I could go to 5 mg hydros and tramadol. I have a monthly prescription for both now; but I decided to stay on low dose of methadone. 5mg.It did not make me high. I have alot of knee, hip pain. I work on my legs all day. I work at home next door to my house. Beauty Salon. The last few months I had to go to 7.5.
I was on methadone for 9 , same dose for chronic migraines and pseudo tumor cerebri my script was stolen someone I knew stole the safe I had I locked in. My dr refused to prescribe more so went cold turkey while waiting to get new appointment at a pain clinic closer to where I live. She did prescribe clonidine which I am positive helped in the beginning she also petscribed some ultram for pain control it has been ineffective and have been to the e.r. 5 times already for my severe headaches.
I was on 160mg of oxy's until april, then went on methadone, i'm on 120ml of methadone currently, and not doing well. I don't know if the methadone has anything to do with my feelings of unwellness or not. I'm 47 so could be in menopause as well. I'm having crazy sweats, constantly dumb and tingling hands, very depressed and emotional, irritable, angry, sad...yesterday woke up crying and couldn't stop for most of the day and there is nothing situational causing it.
That's a long run of methadone. It takes a while for it all to leach out of bones and fat. I guess it's been about 600 days and I am still improving. I abused my body on fake energy and feeling no pain. I got to feel it later. Swimming is best for me, gets blood flowing, low impact, and it stretches and uses every muscle in my body. It's push for a long while, I forgot I was aging on methadone. I'd say the last few months have been way better.

Hi and welcome to the forum....well I was on methadone for 6 1//2yrs and also have bipolar disorder so taking antidepressants was a fact of life for me...I had good luck with celexa will taking methadone...very little side effects mixing the 2 together but all antidepressant are not the same...I agree with mr lucky on asking your dr he/she
should at least know your on the methadone...
I am not sure how to answer this one. You have went to treatment programs and taking methadone but you are only using for pain and not getting high. Guilt is a horrible feeling and there has to be a reason for it. Have you tried other alternatives for your pain. Is it possible for you to live without using and deal with the pain.
P.S. Good for you on quitting smoking, i need to quit that disgusting habit, but i am afraid, lol.
I have been on methadone for 5 months now and my life has taken a 180. I do not ever want to be like I was 5 months ago. I work and I am a great mother again and I am dependable and proud of myself. I dont cry everynight wishing God would just take me I am praying Thank you to God every day all day. I recomend it totaly.
I have been a vegetarian for nearly 20 years and, like laprof, I will turn 54 in January. I have regular periods as always and no sign of menopause in sight yet!
I have started taking Methadone on occasion. This morning I took a 10mg Methadone and this evening I took 3 10mg Hydrocodones. I am experiencing a ton of breathing problems now. Does anybody know if this is a bad mix. I was taking 10-15 10mg vicodin a day. I know it has to be tearing up my liver. Does anyone else have a problem like this?
Hi, around 17 years ago I was diagnosed with a macro protactinoma. My prolactin level was right at 3,000. The only symptom I had was no periods. Those never returned but I was told, after blood tests, that I wasn't in early menopause. My endro and gyn came to the conclusion the reason was my hormones are permanently out of balance due to how long the tumor went unnoticed. I was put on Dostinex and within 6 months my protactin level came down to 2!
I have already caught him once mixing klonopin and his methadone. But I am still very suspicious that he has do so over the week end at his parents house. I was just wondering if you could advise me as to what signs to watch for if I don't catch him right away. Like what the normal side effects within a day or two after that I would be looking for.
Welcome to the forum---- I think the more important question is whether you really need the additional pain relief or or just wanting the effect of the additional Opiate. If you can withstand the pain by just taking your normal dose of Methadone, then don't take the Lortabs. Hope you will stay and post and read this site -- should you ever decide to come off of the Methadone, this is a great place to find help. All the best.
As with heroin and all other opiates, methadone tolerance and methadone dependence usually develop with repeated doses. Tolerance to Methadone administered in a pain-control program usually occurs during the first few weeks of use; whereas respiratory depression, sedation, and nausea can be seen immediately.
I have have been on methadone & zanax for 7yrs 40mg methadone & 31/2 mg zanax and slowly tappering off the methadone 5mg a week to reach 30mg to get on bupenorphen for 1to2 months so i can get off methadone because of longer w/d so i have heard i would appriciate any info thanks
