Common Questions and Answers about Methadone and lyrica

methadose

1985289 tn?1328579594 I don't know about methadone but I do know about Lyrica. It is addicting and the withdrawals from it are pretty bad. You need to do a very slow taper. It does help with opiate withdrawals and it can be abused by people with addictive behaviour. I have gone through several opiate withdrawals but when I went off Lyrica it was much worse. Google Lyrica withdrawals and research it. It's pretty surprising how many people have gone through hell trying to get off this med.
216046 tn?1193943404 My question is, has anyone heard of lyrica causing withdrawal symptoms when taken w/methadone? I was given Tramadol(Ultram) w/ methadone and thought I was going to die with the interaction it caused!!!
Avatar m tn Hello Papagarv1, Welcome. Sorry I am late in responding to your question. You've asked for no judgement - you won't get that from me. Very sadly ppl in chronic pain have been driven to all kinds sources to treat it. I don't condone buying opiates off the street, especially such a complex med like Methadone. Her risks are very very high! Please do your research. My concern is for her physical safety. Now I'll shut up and answer your question.

1326416 tn?1370927001 What is the best forum to join regarding methadone and pain management?
Avatar n tn Yes, I've taken it and also methadone you want to start taking 75 mg during the day and 150mg at night for a month then change to 75mg at night as well. Then tell your doctor to give you 50mg take it for a month then he will give you a weining schedule and then you should be home free. Exercising and moving right along, testifiying and tell people how good God has been to you.
Avatar f tn t recommend that) and had very mild agitation, little sleep and wierd dreams for about 5 days. After that I was off of it. I switched to Lyrica. seems to work better than methadone. If you have not taken methadone as suscribed then you might have to taper off of it. If you have a problem please give the pills to someone you can trust to dish them out to you, and if you feel you want to argue with them, stop and meditate how good you future is going to be off this grip of methadone.
Avatar m tn Hey thanks, a new joiner of this group. I am on 11 mgs of methadone down fro 360 mgs. Never heard of Lyrica, will check it out. Thank you info, DO NO HARM Under11mgs. Actually on 11mgs as the clinic will not let me go down more than 10% so I drop my twice a week pickup to once a week.
Avatar n tn ve taken a lot of pain meds and gone through withdrawl for things like Hydrocodone, Percocet, and even Methadone. Second only to Methadone, Lyrica was the worst to withdraw from! Having said that, I'm am back on Lyrica because it does help my pain. I think the trick with Lyrica is to start out at a low dose and step it up gradually. I started with 25mg and did not get any relief until I got up to 125mg. When I went over 125 I got head aches.
Avatar n tn Im in the same boat, i have fibromyalgia, and a ruptured disc in my back that i have to have surgery on in the near future, and i just got off methadone 40 days ago and i was going through serious wd,s AND back pain, my dr. gave me lyrica which helps alot. dont take the trams because your swithing one addicting drug for another and eventually u will have to withdraw from that too.
712802 tn?1274645485 I am taking 40mg of hydro and 125mg of Lyrica. The doctors tell me Lyrica is usally Rx at 300mg and 125 is a low dose? Anyhow, I am going to keep doing what I'm doing for now. January I'm supposed to test a neuro-stimulator. If it helps I'm hoping that I can ween myself off of the hydro nd lyrica. That's my plan 'cause i think that will be easier than weening myself off Meth. Thanks!
1511671 tn?1316564203 I, too, have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. Initially I used Vicodin along with Ambien at night for sleep and it helped a bit. I also have other chronic pain issues, particularly severe osteoarthritis. I had tried Lyrica a few years ago for the fibro and at the time I got a little relief from it. Then I had some hand surgery and was on different meds for that, which also, at the time, helped with the fibro.
Avatar m tn No this is not from TMJ, I had osteonecrosis in my jawbone, had 3 surgeries and haven't had any pain since I was on the methadone but now that I am down to 18mgs the pain is starting to come through, my sister tells me it is rebound pain???
712802 tn?1274645485 you are on a very low dose of methadone and the opioid is very powerful, it is also extremely addictive..
Avatar n tn I have taken Lyrica and stopped it and started it back and I am now stopping it again. It helps with my pain, but I get suicidal ideation when I take it. It is a good pain med and I know a lot of people who take it problem free. Some folks may not have wds from Lyrica, but I definately do. My wd from Lyrica was/is as bad as any wd I've experienced except for Methadone.
1852582 tn?1319560212 The first 3 yrs after being diagnosed with Fibro. And Arnold chiari,me and my Dr. Tried Numerous meds. Savella.cymbalta,lyrica..etc.Also no narcotic tramadol.etc...Found out that I'm also alergic to Tylenol and Ibuprofen. So after 3 yrs he started me on Methadone. It has worked wonderfully for me,3 yrs prior I was unable to work in bed a lot.Now I have a good job and am a lot more active. But Dr. Says I'm becoming tolerant to the methadone.
Avatar f tn I have a strict rule for myself and that is no sweets after 4pm and I try and have dinner before 5pm and exercise before bed. I know it is very hard to exercise with chronic pain and dieting is not an answer either as a healthy diet is the best option. Maybe a program like weight watchers may help. I know it helps me when I do it as I have someone else to "compete" with:) Having to weigh every week and having a goal also helps.
901222 tn?1399142874 s specifically for getting off opiates and I think it helps with pain a little too but I would try the lyrica first and see if that works. Hope this was helpful for you and good luck. Oh yeah don't get in methadone that's terrible for your body and at least for me when I got off methadone it was by far the worst withdrawal I've ever experienced. Good luck to you though.
986593 tn?1283532211 Lyrica was developed and widely prescribed for Fibromyalgia. I have never heard of it being used for detox. If you are down to 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm, you should have no problem jumping off at this point. It seems you would just be prolonging it by taking the one a day and I am surprised your pm doctor hasn't suggested that you finish up at this point.
Avatar m tn m currently on 12 mg/day of Suboxone for tingling/burning all throughout my body (in addition to Amitriptyline and Lyrica). However, I still have LOTS of pain - I still get this tingling sensation on top of my head and other painful paresthesias. I heard from multiple people that Methadone is better for pain than Suboxone, and so I brought it up to my doctor. My Dr.
Avatar m tn The first time this happened I took Lyrica and Norco and it really helped with the pain and allowed me to sleep a little bit. Now this time Im trying the Lyrica by itself and Im not getting near the relief I did last time. I just had an MRI last week and they found that I have disherniation(protrusion) of L5S1disc that they think could be the cause of my nerve pain.
Avatar f tn Well you got me interested lol, so I searched Methadone and weight gain on this forum and there are tons of people with the same complaints. Someone said it slows your metabolism and makes you retain water. Do a search and read some of the comments.
Avatar n tn m also on Lyrica along with methadone and oxycodone for chronic low back/leg pain. The Lyrica is for my leg pain, which is caused by "nerve pain" as my doctor tells me. I think it may also have some antidepressant qualities, or something like that. I should know, since I have been taking it since the drug went on the market! I'm going to do a little research and find out what I can about Lyrica, just "for the fun of it"!.
458848 tn?1206519711 t rx Morphine or methadone until they try you on other medications.those are the two highest addictive pain medications and most doctors think when you ask for them that you are a drug addict.
575947 tn?1220742187 Hi all Hey I know it's been a while now since I last posted, but with the risk of making this sound like an excuse, to be honest I've been feeling incredibly low for a while now and posting anything has been impossible. The truth is I am so desperate to come off OxyContin I will try virtually anything...as long as it works! I have tried to come off gradually by tapering etc but to no avail.
4192578 tn?1350866381 Sure there is , actually quite a few . Your doctor will have to assess your case and see which one will work better. We use for our patients in so many cases Lyrica. It seems to help with muscle ache is more cases than not, but your doctor will have to evaluate that.
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on Methodone (5 mg) - 3 times daily and Lyrica (50 mg) - 3 times daily to help me get off the hydrocodone without any problems and also to control my terrible pain. It has seemed to work most of the time except I tend to be very sleepy alot of the time. I would like to hear of your experiences with this medicine and if it worked in taking your pain away. Did you have any withdrawal symptoms when you went off of it? Any help you can give would be appreciated.
1050179 tn?1253899186 I have Fibromyalgia. Had it for 10 years now. Some pain meds worked but not for long periods of time. The meds for fibro had intolerable side effects for me. I have been on Methadone for 2 years now becuz i became pregnant and stopping pain meds would've put too much stress on the baby. She is 2 years old now.she's happy and healthy! My issue is that I have found out through my experience in taking liquid methadone that it helps my fibro pain for a long period of time..
