Am I on the right track with this with wanting to request trying Phentermine in combination with mt Metformin? Is there something else that I need to be considering?
My dr. recently prescribed Metformin (500 mg 2x/day) and Phentermine (37.5 mg/day). I started the meds approximately a week ago. I was told the Phen would give me all of this energy and that the Metformin would keep me in the bathroom a lot until my body adjusted, but I have had neither really. The first couple of days on the Phen I had a boost of energy, which I loved, but it quickly faded. I am now constantly tired, no matter how much sleep I get.
Only the combination of phentermine with fenfluramine (also known as fen-fen or Redux) is associated with an increased risk of PH. And even then, the majority of those who used this diet pill did not develop the disease. So, I would not be worried if she used phentermine alone.
But please heed my simple advice: She needs to be evaluated by a specialist and, if she has PH, she needs to be on appropriate treatment and followed closely by a PH specialty center.

For a little over a month I have had clear semi-hard shelled objects coming out when I have a bowel movement. They are perfectly round and seem to be air/fluid filled. I don't feel them come out, they are not in my stool, but float freely and do not go down when you flush!! (which is how I realized I had them) I don't seem to have any of the obvious symptoms (i.e, stomach cramps, vomitting, headache etc) I haven't travelled anywhere or eaten anything strange.
You are going to cause yourself to have heart problems do to the excessive amount of caffeine. Its bad enough that you run the risk of heart problems with Phentermine but adding energy drinks to that just adds to the risk. I took Phentermine for a while. I never drank energy drinks because I cant stand them but I now have heart problems because of the Phentermine.

Does anyone here have experience with Phentermine? My doctor let me talk him into it for weight loss last June. It's supposed to be only taken for 8-12 weeks, but since I've kept losing weight and my blood pressure stays low, he's kept refilling my prescription.
I take 37.5 mg once a day. I know this drug is a stimulant, etc. and it can become addictive. Every once in a while-- like today-- I don't take it, just to see if *not* taking it bugs me.
Usually low, key, happy person. Was diagnosed with Hypothyrodism 2 1/2 yrs ago. In August 2010, finally got my levels to be within normal limits. Was starting to feel better, but Dr. gave me generic Wellbutrin (125) because i couldn't stop crying. Felt like I was starting to go crazy. Went back in Dec 2010 and labs showed that my thyroid levels were completely out of whack. Dr. increased my levoxyl to 125 and generic Wellbutin to 300.
m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
Hey Jenn I just saw your post. I too have a similar history of taking Phentermine with severe depression a year later. How are your symptoms now?
Then in 2007 I became pregnant and regained all of my weight back during my pregnancy. After having my son I was diagnosed with pcos. Since having my son I have lost a total of 70 lbs and now can not lose anymore weight no matter how little I eat. I feel like I absolutely do not need another adjustment. I have been at this stand still for 6 months now. I am wondering can my pcos have anything to do with my weight loss difficulties.
In May of 2009, I was concerned about my weight(~200lbs) so the PA I saw prescribed me with Phentermine(15mg) and Metformin(500mg). They made me jittery, so I stopped after one month. I do not take a multivitamin and I do eat healthy.

Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.
t have much results with phentermine but I can say that it distracts my brain into not thinking about food. I just stay busy the best I can and try not to be around food. The downside of Phentermine for me was: I usually don't feel it working, Caffeine will counter act mine as well as stress and anything else negative in my life. I also started to take 2 pills then backed off cause it keeps me wired at night.
I suggest you be very careful with phentermine, it is very similar to the chemical makeup of methamphetamine. The side effects of high dose or extended use are similar to amphetamine. This drug can blow out your adrenal glands, make you grind teeth until they rot, cause nervous ticks. When amphetamines were more regulated to sell as diet aids, phentermine started to be the main drug sold for hunger suppression. Be careful, people do get strung out on that drug.

They are contained on my torso, sides and back - these presented after about 3 days on Phentermine, and I cannot belive that I would end up with 30+ mosquito bites in one day - they all appeared overnight. Can this be a reaction to the Phentermine?

Feb 15, 2011- I decided enough was enough. I finally accepted that to lose weight, I will have to actually Get Up Off The Couch and DO something. I started by walking on a treadmill (started at a mile) and now I am up to 2 miles. I have cut out 99% of sodas and sweet tea. No junk food.
Deffinitely stop with the phentermine...I'm not sure about the synthroid but the phentermine hasn't been studied with pregnant women however woman taking it with the other fen (can't remember the name) had a miscarriage rate of 1/3 as opposed to the normal miscarriage rate of 12-15%. Call your doctor to talk about your situation as only they and a pharmacist will know best. Good luck!
