Avatar n tn I have taken Metformin 500 Mg x 2 times /day for nearly 3 years, but a year ago until now my feet are swollen, and I have bone spur on the left heel of my foot that is more growing bigger. This foot is in pain when I walk. Everyday when I take Metformin I usually have constipation and the top of my feet are swollen up. My fingers are so numb, and my urine is dark yellow and opaque.

Avatar n tn I guess metformin is working because when the egfr is 60 mean you have chronic kidney disease, its good that you done your egfr blood test and got to know this earlier.
1444838 tn?1456170952 then this knew doctor checked back on my notes she said that I have mild PCOS. and wen I mentioned metformin to her she just said lets concentrate on you loseing some weight first. Just want to know dose metformin really work ?
788199 tn?1236611657 Metformin is not meant to help you ovulate. If your not getting a period, your doctor would have to give you something like Provera to jump start it, and then maybe something like Clomid to help induce ovulation. I don't know why everyone thinks metformin will make you ovulate, because it doesn't. It will help with weight loss, if you start dieting, but other then that it wont help you ovulate. Metformin is known to be given to women who have pcos.
Avatar f tn U can be pregnant. Wait until day 10 and test ir urine, I was on metformin on january on march I missed my mp aftr 10 days I tested and I was positive.

1785407 tn?1314927659 What type of test did your Dr. give you? Urine or blood? If a urine test came up negative there is a chance it was a false negative and you are pregnant. If a blood said you were negative you are not pregnant, they are very senstive!
1562904 tn?1295022560 I have PCOS and I'm trying to conceive. My Dr. has put me on Provera 10mg for 10 days, Metformin 500mg once a day and prenatals. I have refills on all the medicine for 5 months. If i'm not pregnant in 6 months my Dr. is going to give me Chlomid to help me conceive. I'm worried about if I happen to get pregnant withing the 6 months, and not know it, then continue the Provera the following month. Will it make me miscarry or give the baby birth defects?
Avatar f tn Are you taking metformin for polycystic ovaries or increased insulin resistance? If yes then you may start having your cycles regularly soon. With history of unprotected sex the chances of pregnancy are very high. Spotting and cramps could be suggestive of early pregnancy. The spotting may be due to implantation bleeding. Consider consulting your gynecologist for examination and blood HCG test to confirm/rule out pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Me and my partner have beem ttc for nearly 2years and are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. I was prescribed with metformin about 6montus ago but only managed to take it for about a month as i was diagnosed with depression and advised to stop taking metformin until depression had gone. My last period was the end of september early octover 2013. I have taken a doctors urine test and it came back negative.
864198 tn?1239188205 I currently take metformin 500mg 2x and birth control pills. Also while taking metformin since 9/14/08, I have lost over 50lbs now. Along with diet and light work out program, I'm getting healthy again.
Avatar f tn To confirm the status of pregnancy I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine pregnancy tests. It might happen sometimes that there are no sufficient levels of HCG and the test may not detect anything. For best results it has been recommended to wait till a woman has missed her period or at least 14 days past ovulation. Best luck and take care!
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year and have been on metformin for about 2 years. This has controlled the blood sugar levels but all the symptoms are still present. My doctor has taken blood and urine tests, all of which have come back clear. I have been to a urologist and had an ultrasound on my bladder and prostate and all is OK there. I now also have a perminant rash on the glands of my penis, which my doctor tells me it thrush, but no creams clear it up.
Avatar f tn m 37 and been on Metformin for 6 months to regulate my insulin and hormones. Was told by my endo that I finally had good labs and should have no reason to not get pregnant and my periods have been been on schedule for 5 months. Except this month. We have been trying to conceive and did the digital Ovulation Predictor Kits. 6 days after my ovulation, I had mad breast tenderness, light cramping and spotted for a week, with back pains.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 28yrs old and married in 2008... I am TTC since jun 2011 and first 6 months tried naturally (i was taking folic acid tab & metformin). Since i have PCO i had irregular periods... jan 2012 i consulted an IF specialist and was under medication with metformin and folic acid again.... 2 IUI cycles were performed in mar & apr 2012 both turned BFN :-( My IF specialist suggested me to take tubal patency to rule out tubal defects.... in jul 2012 tubal patency was done.

422891 tn?1315179920 In June I had a period that had to be brought on by using provera. July 1 I started taking metformin July 14 had a period. I usually am on a 31 day cycle unless my cycle changes. August I didn't get a period at all I go to the doc she did a urine pregnancy it was negative. She also told me that people with pcos skip cycles and that the metformin helps regulate you. She was also talking about clomid for ttc but didn't want to give it to me because of my blood pressure.
1349241 tn?1316004958 I go back in two weeks for another ultra sound, she said that I should see a big difference but what if I dont? I am also on Metformin and read that it decreases my chance of having a miscarriage, is that true?
422891 tn?1315179920 t show because metformin can affect your cycle at first....use first morning urine when you do test again. Good luck!

Avatar m tn I've been taking Metformin 500 mg once a day every morning. My blood glucose level has been stablized and between safe range, 70 to 85 for fasting test and 80 to 120 at 2 hours after meal. I believe the improvement in blood sugar is because of exercise and diet rather than medication. My question is: should I stop taking Metformin 500 mg? I've heard that this is a very low dose and does not affect much on controling blood sugar. Thanks a lot in advance for your advice and suggestions.
