434242 tn?1204173382 t have any appetite and freaky blood sugar readings. and the Metformin ER made me so tired and no appetite and freaky blood sugar readings - Everyone is different! What works for me may not work for you and vice versus. Make sure he is checking his sugar levels often to see if they are too high or too low. Too low of a sugar reading can also make you very tired. Hope all goes well....

Avatar f tn and put on Metformin. I have been on this medication for a little over a week, and I have noticed that I am starting to have a difficult time concentrating and am always fall asleep while standing tired. I am also getting light headed and dizzy even when my sugars are within acceptable range. Do these side effects go away with time or are they things I need to discuss with my doctor when I see him next.
1632323 tn?1425010283 I am really getting tired of all these pills my doctors are putting me on for so long. I have been taking metformin and Clomid and yet nothing. I have had about 5-6 cycle of Clomid , two of which where 50mg and the others 100mg. Can anybody tell me what over tests I can take to determine what is happening otherwise from my pcos. I have been exercising, changed up my diet. :( I am wondering if my mucus is the problem. What test can my doctor do to determine that.?
Avatar n tn "...metformin which made me physically very drained, not tired or weak, but very loose,..." All medications come with side effects. Not everyone tolerates them equally. One side effect of Metformin is weakness. Also, taking Metformin in quarters is below the recommended dose and is so minimal, I highly doubt it has any affect on helping to lower your glucose [blood sugar] level.

225237 tn?1333138999 I have been on metformin for a couple of months now. When I first started I had some of the stomach problems. For almost the past week I just haven't felt myself, I have frequent loose stools... Can this be from the metformin?? Should I be worried?? I also suffer from anxiety so it really worries me... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn My dr. recently prescribed Metformin (500 mg 2x/day) and Phentermine (37.5 mg/day). I started the meds approximately a week ago. I was told the Phen would give me all of this energy and that the Metformin would keep me in the bathroom a lot until my body adjusted, but I have had neither really. The first couple of days on the Phen I had a boost of energy, which I loved, but it quickly faded. I am now constantly tired, no matter how much sleep I get.
475740 tn?1208262865 I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?

Avatar n tn 075 daily for years and I feel it helps considerably. Before I started taking it I was depressed, tired, and found it hard to concentrate on my university studies. I have been gaining weight for years though despite eating properly (truthfully, as guided by a dietician). I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and (Gen) Metformin was prescribed.
924293 tn?1260307145 The doctor feels IUI may still be a good option and am currently on my 2 ww with second IUI along with clomid and metformin. Thought maybe it might help to talk to others going through the same thing. Part of me thinks I can't take another negative test. I guess it must be normal to feel like giving up. Thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn Ive been on metformin since 9/14 500mg 1x. Now my doctor changed that to 500mg 2x a day. I started taking it 2x a day yesterday, and took the second pill around 9:00pm and went to bed at 9:30pm. My question is does this affect my sleeping? I slept like a baby last night. Solid sleep through the night, which I never do. Anybody else have this affect too? Could it just been one of those things, or the second pill?
1068689 tn?1325827206 I have been under the care of my doctor all this time and prescribed thyroid medicine, metformin, and use the sleep apnea machine when I sleep. I get 7 or more hours of sleep a night and is usually restful. For the past 5 years or so I have noticed my energy levels decreasing quite rapidly. My doctor has played with my meds to keep them within the appropriate ranges and this never seems to help. I otherwise have a healthy checkup when I go in.
245020 tn?1209657943 Metformin was a nightmare for me at first: I started with 500mg a day for a coupole of weeks, then 1000mg for a couple of weeks, and finally up to 1500. Initially I tried to increase after just a few days at each level, and this made me dreadfully ill. And I mean--DREADFULLY nauseous, dizzy, tired. If you search under "Metformin" on this site you will probably see when I posted the same question.
Avatar n tn Once I eat or drink (nonwater) anything I feel better for about 15minutes then I feel very tired and get a pressure type headache with dizziness. I was on Metformin for the IR but with no results, it would make me feel dizzy and tired on top of the stomach problems. Suggestions??
Avatar n tn But I just started taking them two weeks ago and I feel sick to my stomach all the time, I feel exhausted tired....I am really over weight so that could be the cause of the tired feeling. But I just feel sick...has anyone else felt this way with these pills and are they really help full with treating symptoms??

374593 tn?1257879950 Hello! For those of you that have taken metformin during pregnancy, at how many weeks did you discontinue it? also did you just stop it cold turkey or taper it down ( i take it twice a day now and do i just stop or take it once a day for a while?) I am 33 weeks pregnant, and have had severe morning/all day sickness the entire time, they think stopping the metformin at this point may help..
Avatar f tn 3 my weight is 215 lb, I start a diet and only get to loose like 5 pounds and I get tired. God, but I can't get to keep a good diet.. Doctor prescribed me metformin, but I keep stopping it,I start and stop due to the side effects and my dosage is low. I'm kind of concerned because I have not had a period since 15 months, not gotten pregnant. And I'm overweight. I walk a lot 'cause I don't have a car to go to work, but I know I've been eating a lot.
Avatar n tn I am on Metformin also.....I took it last year and couldnt get past the #2 issue, It went for a month! UGH but this time I am starting at 500mg for 10 days....so far just a little #2 issue. I can surely deal with it this time! I am doing a low carb diet (atkins) because It has worked for me in the past! I have been on it for 4 days now(same is the met so far) and I have to say it has not been bad...I have not seen any weight loss yet but I have been to tired to workout!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago with PCOS. I wasn't diagnosed until I went for fertility treatments but they put me on metformin for the PCOS. I also get migraines. I don't know how often you get them but I get them about once a month and with metformin they haven't increased or decreased. I do know that when I was pregnant with my son in the first trimester I got awful migraines but not due to the metformin it was due to the increased hormones of being pregnant.
