I was given 500mg of metformin twice a day but I am going crazy cause i had another miscarriage i got pregnant with no period. Has anyone had sucess on metformin and how long after starting metformin did your period come back regularly? Please help me.

s own and had no problems. Then in September 2008 I started Metformin 500mg 1x a day along with my bcp. In Jan 2009 I upped the dose of Metformin to 2x a day per my doctor. I stopped my bcp in August 2009 and now am just taking Metormin 500mg 2x a day. So far it seems to be working on it's own. I had a period in August and now a period in September. And they are close in time frame.

He said start with 500mg/day for a week, work up to 1000mg/day for another week, then 1500mg/day but my question is, what time of day do any of you taking the same dosage take it? Im not sure if I am supposed to take 500mg morning, noon and evening or 500mg in the morning then 1000mg at night..ect.

I was prescribed 500mg of Metformin, but decided to lose the weight without the medication. I am however taking 1000mg of Cinnamon, which has helped curve my appetite and keep my blood sugar in check. My doctor just placed me on Metformin 500mg for 7 days, and then I will take it twice a day after that. I took my first pill today, and a little while later I got a headache and felt like I had to eat something. The weakness part went away, however I still have a headache. Well after 14 months and only one period im happy with the metformin... its only been a month on 500mg and i finally had a period. I will ask to use clomid if i dont concieve in the next couple of months!!

I am curious to the average time a woman is on Metformin alone before finding they are pregnant? What dosage are you on and for how long? I am currently on 500mg daily. I only have PCOS and not Thyroid or diabetes along with it. Just curious as to how the general population is doing. I've noticed a moderate level of cardio helps me keep My sugar levels down for example this last weekend I went out and got really wasted, a friend was in town and I over did it. Yeah I started out on 500mg and my doc increased them by 500mg every 2 weeks afterwards. I've been on 1500mg for about 3 weeks. My stomach gets upset no matter what I eat but it only happens during the day especially if I eat before 1pm. And it doesn't matter if I eat healthy or bad food it still happens. Can anyone tell me how metformin affected their cycles? If it made them irregular, too long or to short?

My regimen is 2x Metformin (500mg each) morning and 2x evening. But 'extended release' sounds a better way to go on basis it spreads the metformin level over time rather than peaking twice a day. Should I be asking to be switched to ER ? And if so what arguments should I make for the switch?

I started taking metformin about 7 months ago. My doctor first had me on 500mg a day for a week, then doubled the dosage the following week. Then after a month he had me come back for a blood test to see how I was doing and it was working great. My numbers looked good and I lost a few lbs. Then he had me up to 1000mg in the a.m and 1000 mg @ p.m. Then I noticed my thoughts were getting foggy and my mind would drift. Felt more tired than usual.
