Avatar m tn Thanks WaveRider, I only test every 3 months at my doctors and have always had normal blood sugar levels since taking medication. I am very active and fit and am underweight if anything. I was always 12st 6 and am now around 10st. I am always very careful what I eat and have been told that my diet is very good. Thanks for the advice and will try that forum.
Avatar n tn I began having severe upper thigh pain in my left leg within days of starting Metformin which subsided when I stopped the medication, and started again when I resumed. Pain to the point of using crutches where I have NO pain otherwise. Yet, the doctors are saying this pain is not a side effect of Metformin. I want this medication to work. Have you heard of such side effects? Also, I take my Synthriod at night before bed. Is this advisable or is there a "prime time" to take it?

Avatar m tn Hello, Your diabetes 2 is worsening over the years, 20 years, it is common, my friend. Why? because your doctors conviniently not to mention to you that all oral diabetes medicines, including Metformin, only works for some years and even expensive and painful Insulin dosage will loose their effectiveness over the years. Now, to save yourself from this horrible disease, immediately reduce your carb to (6,12,12). Read this book : Diabetes Solutions by DR.
Avatar f tn Did you have your magnesium levels checked? Red blood cell magnesium test and serum test. Statins can cause leg pain due to magnesium deficiency. Are you taking CoQ10? Statins deplete CoQ10 as does simple aging. B12 sublingual may help along with taking a B complex. Most if not all medications deplete vital nutrients like Metformin reduces B12. Look into nutrients depleted by medications. You may find out that many of our medical problems are just nutrient deficiencies or are out of balance.
Avatar n tn Then 3 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyoid and PCOS. I am on metformin and synthoid. I went to gastroentologist and he did the stool sample. Everything came back normal. My endoscope came back normal as well. He said it might be the side effect from metformin. But my other doctor disagree. He says since I am on metformin for years now, it shouldn't be the side effect from the medication.
Avatar m tn It started with pains in my stomach and back (right side), no pressure when urinating, and feeling dreadful (sick, dizzy). I was diagnosed last year with type 2 diabetes and have been on metformin for about a year. I still have the pains in my stomach (right side and sometimes down the front of my right leg) and no pressure when urinating, and I always have a rash on the glands of my penis. I also still feel unwell.
499220 tn?1243052283 I am a 36 y o female with Diabetes and Fibromyalgia. I have a lump on my leg that is painful and seems to be spreading as opposed to getting bigger. The pain is going to my hip, all on the right side. I went to the endo doc and he said see primary doc, saw primary doc she said it's just a bruise. The bruise did clear up somewhat, but the lump and pain are still there. What should I do? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn There are a number of reasons for a rash accompanied by swelling a doctor can diagnose and treat the underlying problem. The same applies to your low back pain as it depends on where the pain resides - left, right, middle, upper region or closer to buttocks, and so on.
193609 tn?1292180293 Thanks for the advice ladies! This really is a pain, and I just hope the metformin continues to make improvements!
Avatar f tn Hello there, The most common side effects of Metformin are abdominal or stomach discomfort, diarrhea, lower back or side pain, muscle pain etc.The common causes of sore breasts are pregnancy, premenstrual syndrome and hormonal fluctuations. Dark areas of pigmentation on the face can be due to long-term exposure to UV radiation from the sun or artificial tanning devices. These areas of dark pigmentation are called solar lentigines and are also called liver, sun or age spots.
Avatar n tn I'm newly diagnosed diabetic and taking Metformin 500mg 2x a day. I have been taking it for about 10 days and have had the worse cramps and stomach pain! I'm not sure if it is my pre menstrual, which never feels like this, or the new medication. Has anyone had stomach pains or cramps as side effect of Metformin? I'm also taking Lisinopril-HTCZ.
587778 tn?1261397118 If you have a family history of fibroids, and you take metformin... you should again reconsider... metformin helps your hormones get in line which should increase estrogen, estrogen is a culprit in fibroids........ YOU NEED RESEARCH, lots of it and another doctor's opinion. Please do not take this lightly, if you live in the USA, you should know they love to just make a diagnosis, and usually do not care if it is exactly accurate..... IT IS YOUR LIFE, YOUR HEALTH.....
Avatar n tn I take metformin 500mg twice a day & Januvia 100mg at bedtime. I was diagnosed type 2, about month & half ago. I take multivitiamins during day. At bedtime I take the min amount of magnesium & potassium (for night leg cramps) & aloe vera in a half glass of protien shake. For days now, I have had diarrehia. My morning fastings numbers are 95-110, now, for days, but now my day numbers have jumped to 135-138, just today, after having diarrehia for a few days.

Avatar n tn Most burning feet treatments focus on preventing further nerve damage and reducing pain. Causes of Burning Feet Most often, neuropathy, or nerve damage, is the cause of burning feet. Damaged nerve fibers are more likely to become overactive and misfire. The damaged nerves send inappropriate pain signals to the brain, although there is no wound or injury. In most people with neuropathy, the leg nerves tend to become damaged first, at their furthest ends in the feet.
Avatar f tn My mother takes it and says that she has an amazing amount of gas pain in her back and has been taking it for about a year now.
Avatar m tn If these together do not bring your sugars back to normal, then first line medication is metformin. If metformin does not bring your blood sugars down (in combo with diet and exercise), then they need to test you for antibodies to be sure that you do have type 2 diabetes. Anyway, diabetes is a condition to take seriously. Your levels are not terrible yet, but certainly also should not be ignored and no action taken.
Avatar n tn I stopped metformin abruptly and started birth control around the same week I stopped the metformin, and so suddenly and intensely felt so much pain like I was dying. Its been 3 months and I haven't gotten better, I used to be so happy and hopefull now I feel completely hopeless, uneasy, and cannot enjoy anything. Will I ever get better??!!
