metformin janumet

hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?

been on metformin 500 mg 2x a day...over last 2 wks suagrs have been in upper 200...so my Dr. increased my metformin to 850 mg 2x a day... i just took i pill today but my numbers sre still over 200 ..Is there an adjustment of how many days till new mg. starts to work...

Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.

I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking.

I had TIA stroke in December 2010. My diabetese medicine was changed from Pioglar + Metformin 500 twice a day to Janumet 50+1000 twice a day in around March 2011. I have since lost about 15 KG and it is still going down @ 1 kg per month. I was happy to reach my ideal weight. However, I do not know how to stop further loss. My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?

Metformin only helps your body process insulin. Ask your doctor about switching to Janumet - combo with Metformin. Regarding Cinnamon - it is effective in regulating sugar for Mellilitus II diabetics. You can take it in conjunction with any medicine. IMHO - fresh or using the sticks in a tea are the most effective!

Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.

I have type 2 diabetes and I take 2000mg of metformin...but it hurts my stomach something terrible...i stay in the bathroom I stopped taking it but I know I have to start back because I don't want to have to take insulin because it is/was helping me..what can I do for the stomach pain and toilet runs.

My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.

i used janumet for my sugar it make me gain weight but it lower my sugar why isnt suppose to make u loose weight

I had gestational diabetes 7 years ago and have suspected that my insulin never returned to normal. I was taking Metformin 500 2x daily which was then changed to Janumet 500/50 2x daily. I have done very well with diet and exercise and for some very strange reason, upon beginning treatment for the pituitary tumor and thyroid medicine, my blood sugars have been in range perfectly and when taking Janumet I actually experience severe low sugars, so I have stopped taking it.

I have a question for all of you. I'm on metformin and Janumet meds and I have been having a great deal of gastric distress. Uncontrollable flatulence and gastric reflex especially at night. Is anybody out there taking the same meds having the same problem. I think I need to call my doc. and maybe change meds. By the way my glucose levels have really come down. Last night it was 9, this morning 107.

overweight and have type 2 diabetes. I take metformin, janumet, caduet and until yesterday diovan. During a stress test yesterday my systolic bp rose to 260 in a very short time (diastolic was elevated but not so greatly). When my BP has been taken several times throughout the year at rest it has been 120/80 (ish). I am not very active but do walk 1-1/2 miles a day at a moderate rate. The cardiologist took me off of diovan and told me to begin 100 mg toprolol (sp?) immediately.

I changed my diet to oatmeal and 5 strawberries for breakfast, salad for lunch, dry bran cereal for snack, Healthy Choice Meal for dinner, and slice of bread n peanut butter for bedtime snack to take with my janumet. Because Janumet makes me feel nausea. My blood sugars are running 308 this week and last night it drop to 219 and gave me a headache. My doctors can't really do much about my meds because my insurance won't pay for my diabetic meds. I am using sample packages.

I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?

I am a 29 year old married woman. I am diabetic and take Janumet 2x a day. I take birth control loestrin Fe. My husband and I have sex about 5-7 times a week. I have vaginal irritation and mild itching. It typically would arrive a few days after my period or a few days before. I did some research and all 3 of the mentioned above (diabetic, use of birth control and frequent sex) all could lead to yeast infections. So I bought over the counter remedies. Each time they worked...
