glucophage

1959497 tn?1325174764 After taking Metformin do you get a metallic or unusual taste in your mouth? Metformin associated with yellow, frothy stools is highly unusual but I wouldn't count out a negative reaction yet. Have you changed your diet? Does this happen only once, or 4-6 times a day? If the latter, and it is foul smelling, and you have a dog or cat, you might have picked up an infection.
Avatar f tn Lactic acidosis is a side effect of Metformin in unusual cases and is serious. Metformin needs to be taken with food.
Avatar n tn When I went to my woman wellness exam I told my doctor that my husband and I were having a hard time conceiving and that I have always been irregular with my menstral. She put me on Metformin and my question's are What effect will this have on me and my body as I am not diabetic and if I take this and get pregnant what effects may this drug have on the baby?
Avatar m tn My Mother is 92 slim 126 pounds she feels lightheaded and dizzy in the Mornings after taking her metformin but fells better as the day wears on . I believe the metformin lowers her blood sugars in the morning causing her to feel dizzy and spacy.
Avatar f tn You should see a pain specialist with experience in subluxion injuries. The specific treatment (other then surgery) involves application of what is called intermittant "axial traction". with a harness. The traction separates the verterbra and enables the bulging disc to return to normal. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. You definitely do NOT want to ever use a cervical collar, because it will reduce muscle tone.
957923 tn?1246732553 m terrified of it. I was looking up reasons for hair loss, and BAM there were all of my symptoms listed in one little list. I have high blood pressure very irregular periods (sometimes skip months at a time) and then when it does come the bleeding so very heavy. bad hair loss (by the way i'm 20) lots of excess body and face hair. (its really crazy)((thick facial hair, leg hair, and arm hair) acne, (not bad acne but acne non the less) I am over weight and do struggle with lossing it.
475740 tn?1208262865 I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?
Avatar m tn With all of this, they still want me to take 500mg of Metformin ER (at breakfast and dinner, so 1000mg per day). First, think another A1C may be in order a couple months after surgery to act as a validator with these normal BG numbers? Second, is it usual to have the ER version of Merformin initially perscribed? Isn't there a non-ER version that is more common?
Avatar f tn Very recently I began noticing large white capsule looking things in my stool. I read other forums & I noticed a common thread that everyone was taking the medication Metformin. I'm also on Metformin extended release, do u think that could be the cause?
1306788 tn?1334752651 I luckily had an excellent doctor at the hospital where I have been going for my antenatal appointments. She kept me on Metformin in my first trimester, I am now in my second trimester, and she has been monitoring my sugars, and I don't seem to need it anymore, so she has taken me off it. But she said that has been a very recent study, which was very comprehensive which has shown that Metformin is completely safe to use throughout the whole pregnancy where needed.
Avatar n tn My ob/gyn told me I needed to choose between bc pill and ovarian drilling surgery to reduce the cysts on my ovaries. I chose to start with the pill. Did I make the right choice? I am 37, had 3 mc, 1 DD, and 1 ectopic all conceived on clomid.
1510073 tn?1290036070 t know if you have any updates on your cyst. The reason your doctor probably mentioned surgery is in case your cyst doesn't go away on its own. Cysts 5cm or larger run a greater risk of rupturing. If they increase in size then it is necessary to surgically remove them. It isn't as much about your pain level as it is about the risk of that cyst growing larger and rupturing. Even benign cysts can cause complications if they rupture.
Avatar f tn Is your spelling correct? Colonoscopy is an exam using a camera. Colonostomy is major surgery involving abdomens, intestines, holes and plastic bags that need changing periodically.
Avatar f tn Well I was diag with PCOS when I was 16. Was on Metformin for a while, but then had Gastric Bypass surgery..lost alot of weight...275+. I stop taking metformin because my docs were just not telling me to take it anymore. Well now I am married and TTC. Last year I got prego all by myself. Unfor. I m/c at 7 months. Now, I am eating healthy, walking on long walk with my dogs, and taking CARE OF MYSELF! I am on Metformin 500 mg BID(twice a day).
Avatar f tn My husband and I are ttc. Back in April of this year I had surgery to remove cysts from mybtube. I had been on depo since December of 14 and once I stopped august of 16 I never had a cycle. Long story short I had the surgery thinking that's why my cycle was non existent. Non the less I never had a cycle.. My on/gyn prescribed me a round of provera 10 day I had a cycle 3 days after stopping. But didn't have one the following month.
Avatar f tn m not sure why you think Metformin only works on fat - in diabetes, the primary function of metformin is to stop the liver from over-producing glucose. "it only works on fat" - not sure what you mean.
Avatar f tn i hv irregular periods.i took metformin first time on 14november on 15 nov i got my periods.i wanna ask u should i take metformin 1000mg a day during my periods? Or dhould i stop taking it. Its my second day of periods n i have only spotting. N also i wanna ask that should i take clomid with metformin together? From 3rd day of my periods? I have cysts on my ovaries so clomid is good for me to get pregnant or not becuase sone people told me nt to take clomid if u have polysystic ovaries.
Avatar f tn The options are surgery to repair the fallopian tubes, or in vitro fertilization which will bypass the tubes. Open tubes are required for the sperm to reach the egg. Thus, even if you are taking medicines like clomid and metformin which help your ovaries to release an egg, without open fallopian tubes the sperm will not be able to reach the egg to fertilize it. Finally, sometimes the X-ray is mistaken, but you definitely need more evaluation of your tubes if it indicates they are blocked.
Avatar f tn After the ectopic/surgery, I had another HCG that showed damage to the right tube-which I already knew from the lap surgery, but my left was still open, so we are able to try just with my left side. I do have blood work done to check my insilin levels. Bloodwork indicated I was insilin resistant so I started the met. About a month ago I had my levels checked and am no longer insilin resistant so the metformin is working.
Avatar f tn whats the chances of conceiving on clomid and metformin with pcos. ttc for 2 years.
Avatar f tn Definitley in the same boat. Its so depressing at times. I was given the option of clomid metformin or bc for x amount of months they stop bc and try to get pregnant. With metformin id advice you to ask your docotr to check your hormones (thyroid, th, fsh, blood insulin etc. Mie came out as my pancread pushed out more insulin then my doctor like (even though it was still in normal but "hugh normal") worst side effect i have with it is i am nausea.
594189 tn?1386916607 congratulations! i am pregnant with child 2 and have had PCOS, endometriosis and a bicornate uterus and cervix (2 of each). I was told by 3 ob/gyn and 2 family doctors it would be next to impossible to get pregnant without help. Just before child #2 I was taking metformin, it's a treatment that helps my PCOS, and what a family doctor recomended trying since nothing was covered for birth control, or any other medication under my insurance in the states. It was a preexsisting condition.
626011 tn?1257279765 Has anyone gotten pregnant by metformin alone? B/c next time I go in he will want to schedule the surgery. He has already told me that. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Follitism is when you take shots (gonal-f for me) and have ultrasounds done about every 3 days to produce mature follicles that can release a mature egg. I don't know anything about a GI diet but cutting out a lot of carbs and calories combined with some kind of exercise at least 3-4 times a week. I don't know how much you can lose combined with the metformin but a healthy diet you should lose 4 to 6 kg (2-3 pounds) a week.
1302038 tn?1439575232 t think it had anything to do with the Metformin. The second time I got pregnant was with Metformin and Clomid, but it was a tubal pregnancy and I lost my left filopian tube. Turns out, Clomid may have actually caused the tubal pregnancy. There is a reason doctors don't just hand the drug out and your doctor probably knows what is best for your health. Just take it in to consideration. I wish I had known all the risks before taking it.
Avatar f tn Thanks and Congrats to u. I continue to take metformin and progesterone during pregnancy. but still it ends in m/c. I pray and hope i'll get a solution for this.
Avatar f tn I took five rounds of clomid ( up to 150mg) and metformin and did not ovulate. So after having surgery I started with tamoxifen (pills) bc clomid is no good for me. But the tamoxifen didn't work very good either that's why I took follistim injections. My doctor had us do a postcoidal test, so we had sex sunday night and then went to my RE monday morning and he took a small sample of my cervical mucus to see how many sperm survived the night.
Avatar f tn I agree it can be a life changing surgery, I had almost 100 cysts and after surgery I started AF without meds for the first time. that being said it's only recommended in severe cases with lots of cysts or hormones that are not corrected with metformin. Littlelady-i'm surprised an OB kept you that long, you should be seeing a RE (reproductive endocrinologist).
