Avatar f tn HI, After starting treatment with metformin, it may take a few months to achieve a pregnancy. This will also depend on your hormonal levels. Hence a careful follow up with your gynaecologist is necessary. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn In Canada, metformin is under clinical study for pregnancy. The officially approved treatment is insulin shot. I'm taking insulin but diet and exercice is more than needed to keep it under control. If your physician prescribed it He most think it is safe.
Avatar f tn I ovulate 15th day of my cycle every month...... Metformin will help with your periods... Its very important that u get on metformin b/c people with psco have a higher risk of mc... Plus u want to stay on it when u r preg...

Avatar f tn Metformin is generally used in women that have PCOS or is a medicine used for diabetic people. Do you normally have regular cycles? It's strange for your doctor to have you take that just because you didn't ovulate one month. Every female will have a time where she doesn't ovulate one month for various (or no) reasons. How long ago did you take this, and are you still on it?
Avatar n tn i had to take clomid(10rounds)(fell pg twice)+ metformin for about a yr and few months... i was 85kg and lost upto 62kg.. putting me in normal BMI.. my doctor suggested i still need to loose enough so it wont come back... healthy diet and good exercise will help her conceive more quickly...

Avatar f tn I have pcos as well and have never had regular periods. With my first child, I was taking metformin and using ovulation kits. I am now pregnant with my second child. This time I tried clomid (with no success) then switched to letrozole. I was about to go back to taking metformin, but found out I was pregnant. It is very difficult when you barely ever ovulate. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I currently have gestational diabetes and its diet controlled but if my sugars get out of hand they will put me on metformin . My thing is this you only need to take metformin if you have uncontrollable diabetes. With my daughter my gestational diabetes was so out of control they had me on 90 units of insulin a day to keep us well I was passing out every where but from my experience with this being my third pregnancy if you are going to have a miscarriage you are going to have it.
Avatar f tn t have kids and nor would I be a good candidate for fertility treatments, but, I had a healthy baby girl in July 2013 (prior to pregnancy was taking metformin For 1 year) and by May 2014 I was naturally pregnant (after baby #1 I was no longer insulin resistant so I hadn't taken metformin) again with a baby who's doing splendid.
415867 tn?1323365503 ve had 2 miscarriage (1 being ectopic) and 1 successful pregnancy. We did clomid for a while and the two times i got pregnant on clomid i miscarried (not sure if its coincidence or not--- doc said its not) We have been trying again since Feb. to get pregnant and did in august but that was the one that was ectopic.
Avatar f tn [5] Women with PCOS who are insulin resistant are at high risk for the development of diabetes in pregnancy, and a possible role for metformin therapy may be the prevention of GDM. In a cohort of 33 women with PCOS taking metformin until delivery, GDM occurred in 3% compared with 23% in 39 women taking no medication.[4,6] However, given the lack of data from well-designed, prospective clinical trials, metformin is currently not indicated for the prevention of GDM.
Avatar f tn I had to stop taking metformin completely as soon as I got my pregnancy confirmed. I was taking it for PCOS and insulin resistance. My dr said I'll probably start taking it after delivery and after I finished breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn then i was used after ovulation 15 progestone tablets for pregnancy protection(if pregnancy is there), Now my RE recomended letrozole 5 mg tablets .I have to start on my 3rd of my period.RE asked ne to use ovulation predictor kits and if perod missed means I have to take an appointment. She didn't give any progestrone tablets after ovulation. Is this the correct way?anybody using femara(letrozole 5mg) please clarify my doubt.
Avatar n tn m also insulin resistant so i had a hard time losing weight and was told I would probably have a very hard time trying to conceive down the road due to my health issues. So my doctor put me on Metformin 500mg 2x a day and in a year I had lost 40lbs and my periods had somewhat regulated. Well this past December just a few days before Christmas I had noticed something was off so after a lot of convincing from my mother I went and got a pregnancy test and turns out I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn I was on this before (and during) my pregnancy for type 2 diabetes.
