707544 tn?1228949819 No Metformin is not for high prolactin level but for impaird glucose tolerance or hyperinsulinemia. You probably had your pituitary gland imaged with an MRI. Dostinex would help your hyperprolactinemia but would not necesarrily help you ovulate. You may have to take ovulation induction drugs like Clomiphene or injectable FSH like Bravelle to make an egg to ovulate. I presume that you are seeing a specialist in fertility called a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist.

Avatar f tn The role of metformin in ovulation induction is well established, and several studies have demonstrated that women with PCOS are more likely to ovulate with metformin than with placebo alone.[2, 4] Therefore, women with PCOS often conceive while on metformin, and exposure during organogenesis is common. At present, metformin is classified as Class B in pregnancy, with no evidence of animal or fetal toxicity or teratogenicity.
Avatar f tn HI, Induction of ovulation with clomid will give results in women with PCOS. However it is necessary to confirm the patency of fallopian tubes to ensure success. Can be taken for 2 to 3 months and then reviewed if no results. Consult an infertility expert in case of difficulty. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. I have PCOS and I ovulate about the same time as you. I have had one miscarriage. I'm not sure when I ovulated with the baby that I miscarried because it was a surprise pregnancy. I know that I ovulated around CD18 with my current pregnancy and was able to sustain it this time. The last pregnancy, I discontinued using Metformin as suggested by my OB. This time (new OB) I stayed on Metformin.
Avatar f tn So the first treatment option for infertility is usually the administration of drugs to induce ovulation like Clomid. Secondly Glucophage or Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing agent that is sometimes used in conjunction with Clomid. Other than that, Injectable HCG, Hmg, FSH, GnRH and assisted reproduction like IUI, IVF, GIFT AND ICSI may also be used. Please discuss these treatment options with your doctor as they will help in conception.

327405 tn?1223239755 Hi ladies, I am on 1,000 mg of Metformin daily 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at night. I was diagnosed with PCOS this summer and have been on the medication ever since. The Metformin has been inducing my period but I am still having trouble conceiving. Also, I track my ovulation and I'm not always ovulating even with my induced period. I have been told that clomid is a better option for women in my circumstances. I spoke to my doctor and she's not willing to prescribe it for me.

374593 tn?1257879950 If you are not planning to do IVF, then immediate ovulation induction/IUI after surgery is probably better before the endometriosis returns. I think Femara is a great choice for ovulation induction for women with endometriosis. Of course, you should discuss this with your own infertility doctor.
1298207 tn?1331677531 They are tiny and they surround your eggs, making none of your eggs able to mature enough to be released for ovulation. Birth control might be an option for maybe 3-6 months. Sometimes bc can help with those who have the cysts. And I would say because you are young, you have the time to get onto bc for 3-6 months to try and have your body "refresh" itself without further treatment. Also, if your not already on metformin...
