Avatar n tn i have been on metformin for a year at 1500mg per day and still nothing. My biggest fear is maybe I should just give up on my dream of having a big family and just go with what i have now. How bad is your PCOS. maybe my doctor misdiagnosed me or something. Although i have been to 10 doctors and they all same thing but maybe there is something else wrong.

Avatar f tn what are some things you ladies have tried to become pregnant? I've been trying for a little over a year and each Obgyn I've seen tells me I'm find nothing's wrong, but nothing we do helps. I try to not stress and just go with it but after watching friend after friend become pregnant again I can't help but become depressed about it.

Avatar f tn I have 2 beautiful little girls and am expecting another bundle of joy in June. It can be difficult for some to get pregnant, meds and ivf may be required. But for some it is not difficult. We only ttc this one for a month. I am one of the very lucky ones who despite having pcos gets pregnant easily. My last ultrasound before becoming pregnant I had so many cysts in my ovaries my doc said she was very surprised I became pregnant with my DDs but I did it again!
Avatar n tn I dont see any symptoms of being pregnant. Im worried as to when i will get pregnant??what is to be done to get pregnant??
Avatar n tn Jw, has anyone who has PCOS gotten pregnant without the use of fertility drugs? I have had it for about three years, and I'm afraid ill never get pregnant without drugs. Please any stories and opinions will be wonderful!
Avatar f tn Hello, After 2yrs of trying we finally got pregnant with the use of clomid. I have pcos and have been on metformin for like 4yrs which never really didn't anything for me in getting my periods or anything. But my primary said it is important to be on it to prevent miscarriages. Is this true? because my 1st ob said if its not working for you than dont take it. But when my primary told me this i started back on it.
Avatar f tn Hi I finally got pregnant after 13 years and I lost him when I was 5 months. I went into preterm labor. I have sighns of pcos and I have irregular periods. My question is how long will it take for me to get pregnant again? I took clomid once already and it didn't help and now I am waiting on my period to start so I can take it again. I am already on day 37 and still no period. I have taken pregnancy tests and there all negative. This is driving me crazy!
Avatar n tn Hi, I was surfing for some info for my pregnant daughter, then I came across this dude's blog. http://pregnant-healthcare.blogspot.com/2006/04/metformin-use-during-first-trimester.html and my daughter has been diagnosed with diabetes couple of months ago and put on metformin since then, after reading the page above, it made me wondering should my daughter continues taking it. is what quoted in the blog true? Thank you in advanced.
1843973 tn?1326131704 I was trying for 2 years but only seeked help 6 months prior to getting pregnant. I stayed on metformin (1500mg) for my first trimester even though I had horrible morning sickness. Never missed a dose. In your case you clearly can conceive you should really look into why your not keeping the pregnancies. Best of luck to you. And im so sorry for your loses.
1464956 tn?1286204957 Metformin for me, was to help me regulate my cycle. It was horrible, sometimes going 3 months without AF, but metformin regulated it, and even though I can never know now if I've had m/cs in the past, because of delayed periods, cramps, sore breasts (sorry about tmi) i just put all that down to pcos, but now, im currently in my third trimester. Hang in there, keep believing, and all the best. SSBD to you.
1512722 tn?1313697879 Metformin is the most amazing drug, it's the reason I'm pregnant. It helped me lose 20lbs and ovulate!! I ovulated on femara but didn't get pregnant thus month I took only my 1500mg of metformin. I've been on metformin since October at 1500mg and never missed a pill. If you stick to it and exercise it could get you pregnant. I just did yoga/pilates I heard it was good for fertility and only started it this cycle and got pregnant. Good luck to you!!
1461521 tn?1285862732 As far as having PCOS, yes it makes it harder for us to get pregnant and lose weight, etc. I hear your on metformin, have you lost any weight with that? I too take metformin and lost 62lbs on it, but right now my weight goes up and down allot due to stress. I don't really care for any of those weight loss surgies because I have seen many people get it done, and after a few years the weight comes back. Hard work is the only thing that pays off in weight loss.
Avatar f tn Thank you, I wS diagnosed with pcos a year ago and was on metformin for 8 months before getting pregnant, I thought I could never concieve as well. Your reply makes me feel a little better.once again thank you.
Avatar f tn Hello, Most women with PCOS don't ovulate and thus cannot become pregnant. So the first treatment option for infertility is usually the administration of drugs to induce ovulation like Clomid. Secondly Glucophage or Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing agent that is sometimes used in conjunction with Clomid. Other than that, Injectable HCG, Hmg, FSH, GnRH and assisted reproduction like IUI, IVF, GIFT AND ICSI may also be used.
Avatar f tn hi im 21 and i was told when i was 18 that i have pcos and it will be almost impossible for me to get pregnant i have been on clomid and it did not work.. now im on metformin.. has anyone with pcos ever had success with metformin and getting pregnant?
Avatar n tn I have been on Metformin for six weeks now and i had a period at day 44 (i normally go 70+ days). I did a pregnancy test the day before i came on and it was neg. But since i've finished i keep getting pain in my breast. It isnt constant but when it comes it's quite painful i've also had mild lower abdominal pain. I'm quite sure i'm not pregnant, and i think it might be a side effect from the Metformin.
788199 tn?1236611657 metformin does not only control ur insulin levels it is also a fertility med but even though it helps with fertility ur doc may give an additional fertility drug if u have had no succcess getting pregnant with metformin. u shud also keep in mind that blood test is way more fool proof than a urine test so if AF hasn't *** already a doc visit may be in store. good luck!! u can drop me a message if u have any questions, i will try to help.
594189 tn?1386916607 I weigh 342 pounds and having issues getting pregnant anyone else with that weight, pcos and issues getting a baby?
1512722 tn?1313697879 t remember exactly how much I lost). Anyway I ended up getting pregnant that cycle and got my BFP on February 13, 2009. My baby girl is 17-months now! I took progesterone the first trimester with her as my previous miscarriage was due to low progesterone and we wanted to prevent another M/C (that miscarriage had been my second one). With PCOS you have to monitor your hCG and progesterone, especially if you use Clomid to hopefully decrease the risk of miscarrying.
Avatar n tn Hi, I dont think Metformin is the cause for your problem. I have used it for more than 3 months and did not have any problem during AF. I have PCOS and hence metformin was prescribed for insulin resistance. btw why were you taking metformin?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am so confused i have pcos and was told to take metformin to get my cycle going which never really worked for me for with the help of clomid got pregnant. I am 13w now and my endocrinologist says to take if for 20weeks, on my 1st visit at 7weeks the NP said take it throughout the whole pregnancy. on my last visit at 12weeks my ob says stop around 16weeks. I mean seriously i have no clue who to follow. Any advice ...
1304588 tn?1299071471 ) and you took metformin for ovulation and not to regulate your sugar for diabetes right?
