1412179 tn?1281699815 For many diabetics, the highest reading of the day is in the morning. Your liver produces glucose while you are sleeping. Your readings don't sound like anything out of the ordinary. Mention it to your doctor at your next visit.
Avatar f tn Are there any diabetics taking treatment? One of side effects is elevated blood sugar . Can someone help!
Avatar f tn Liver enzymes are often elevated in type 2 diabetics. This can be related to the breakdown of stored glucose in the liver. Metformin often helps to return these elevated enzymes to baseline by regulating insulin and glucose levels.
604185 tn?1233960857 I have been on Metformin for many years now (for fertility reasons). I think its the best. I am on my 6th IVF (and I hope it works this time!). One of my fertility doctors took me off metformin for 3 of my ivf tries and the results were much much worse. From everything I have read, it seems that metformin is a safe medication and you can stay on it all through your pregnancy (unless you have liver issues).
Avatar m tn Oral drugs such as Metformin are generally only used as a stand alone with pre-diabetics. Someone with sugars over 150 is no longer a pre-diabetic and it is a necessity that he be treated with insulin. Diabetics with glucose over 300 should be treated with a combination of two different insulins (Lantus which controls insulin levels over a 24 hour period and Apidra or rDNA insulin which is fast acting and generally taken before meals) and also Metformin.

434242 tn?1204173382 I felt like that too, it is the normal symptoms of diabetes until it is under control. I was so frustrated because of the lack of energy, I thought it was a life sentence. I had the same problems until recently I did a ten day master cleanse. It has completely sorted out my energy and now I have bags to spare. I am now on day 17 of a new cleanse that I intend to do for forty days. I feel amazing, I have gutted the house, my work has improved and even sex is better as I have the energy.
499220 tn?1243052283 It is cellulitis, and they put me on Bactrim (I know, usually for U T I's. But I take Vicodin, Clonopin, Verapamil, Lamictal, Cymbalta, Ferrous Sulfate, Lofibra, Ambien, Lyrica, Flovent, Albuterol, Novolog, Lantus, Metformin.....that's what I can think of off the top of my head, there's more though....) probably because of all the meds that I take. But I was feeling good the last dose into the treatment 2 tabs for 7 days.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just started taking Metformin for my new diagnosed Diabetes 2 and today right around lunch time i started feeling really shaky and just overall weird. Is that the deabetes or the meds?
Avatar m tn Does this means she is diabetics and need insolin or she is just prediabetics. She only uses metformin 500mg twice a day with her meals. A1c is 6 and her blood glucoz level two our after meal is usually 120.
393893 tn?1283551230 Hi ladies, starting metformin soon and I was wondering what to expect? I've been looking online and it seems to be a medicine for diabetics although I've seen women talking about it on the forum in the past. I'm sure my re explained this to me, but I was overloaded with other info so it probably went in one ear and out the other-so much to remember. Thank you for any help!!
1441125 tn?1284071885 Metformin works when properly taken. You must, however, adhere to diabetes nutritional guidelines and exercise on a regular basis for it to do its job. Personally speaking Metformin and cinnamon have no side effects when taken simultaneously. Does cinnamon help lower my glucose levels? Yes, in some ways it does. Will it work for you? Yes/no. Cinnamon works for some people and not for others...won't hurt to try but bear in mind you may not see any changes for 3-4 months down the road.
1303999 tn?1279581926 I've heard of metformin suppressing the TSH. I've also read that the levoxthryoxine affects blood sugar, but it doesn't say whether it can raise or lower it. Close monitoring may be necessary till you find out if you need to adjust your diabetic meds. Wish I could have been more helpful.
Avatar f tn - your doc can put you on metformin. This helps regulate some of your hormones. It is also used for diabetics but you do not have to be a diabetic for this to work. This is what my doc currently has me on. - your doc can put you on clomid which will help you obviate. - your doc can put you on both metformin and Clomid. Before your doc does either med he or she will run some blood work tests and do an ultrasound. Good luck! !
Avatar f tn i was shocked why i should have this tablet i m not having diabetics ?hw long i have to have this? wats the reason for this? give me a solution to overcome this?mentally i m so desp?
1573438 tn?1295963258 I was told that going on Metformin would help lose the weight. Even for diabetics. Well I did lose 30 lbs in the first 6 months but then it stalled and now have gained weight while on it. I do have a thyroid issue and taking meds for that among other things. So yes I think the meds we are on can have a great deal of influence on our weight gains and losses.
Avatar f tn s a drug that they also use for diabetics but it helps regulate your hormones in your uterus (plus PcOS increases your chances of diabetes) anyways a side effect of metformin is weight loss...so that may help!
1039061 tn?1257878294 I know that Glucophage is used for diabetics, but are there other uses, such as this? Any help would be appreciated!!!
Avatar f tn I have had diabetes for 7 years at least now and im pregnant with my second child.. do any if you feel like the doctors make it hard to feel like you have a personal connection with your baby because they are constantly reminding you of all the negatives of having diabetes while pregnant. . I just went to the doc yesterday and I just feel like sad about this baby like im a bad mom or something.
878888 tn?1319634044 08 last test, But she put me on Metformin xr 500 for diabetes. I was wondering if anyone else takes this med along with levothyroxine and if it effects your thyroid management. I have gained 16 lbs back since January and want make sure I don't keep gaining. Ps. I work on my feet and walk about 9000 steps a day, plus have changed my diet and am counting carbs.
Avatar n tn Another med docs use for PCOS is Metformin. Metformin is not FDA approved for PCOS but many docs will still use it with success. Metformin is a med for diabetics. However, many women with PCOS have insulin problems, which Metformin can help with.
Avatar f tn Birth control will help get rid of the cysts but a drug called Metformin is what they usually give to women who are actively trying to conceive. Its primarily a drug used to maintane sugar levels in diabetics but aids (somehow) in increasing fertility as well. It also helps some women lose weight. I took it for 3 months after being diagnosed with the cysts about 4 yrs ago. I stopped taking it and about 8 months later I was pregnant.
Avatar n tn He tested negative for the diabetes antibody. Two days ago, after 10 days in intensive care he was moved to the regular pediatric floor however his ketones are still at 2000 and the doctors are puzzled why they keep going down then up for no apparent reason. His blood sugar levels vary (400 down to 150) based on what he eats and how much insulin he is given. Still working our the kinks in getting him stablized. Does anyone have any idea what else may be going on to cause all this?
Avatar f tn In addition to what waverider has said: If you are dropping to 32 to 40 you need to talk to your doctor; that is much too low. And having to overeat to keep your blood sugar up is indeed counter-productive! Keep close track of your numbers, highlighting both highs and lows and share them with your doctor. Or better yet get an appointment with an endo who is more specifically trained to assess blood sugar and medication doses.
