glucophage

Avatar n tn It was originally for breast cancer, but seems to help with ovulation in pcos. From all the research ive done laprascopy is sort of the last resort. I'd try a new doc.
Avatar f tn My doctor suggests now to up the Clomid dose to 150mg and to take Metformin as well. I thought that Metformin was indicated for patients with insulin resistance (which is not my case), is this true or are there potential benefits of taking Clomid + Metformin even not being insulin resistant? Also, at which point will a person be considered Clomid resistant?
1559168 tn?1294731785 And Higgins is right most doctors use clomid with metformin however clomid is not a good drug for women with PCOS, it causes cysts (and increases your chances for breast cancer) and current research shows that metformin alone is more effective at getting you to ovulate than the combo of drugs. I also have PCOS, we tried for 3.5 years so needless to say I've done a lot of research. You will get pregnant it just might take a little longer (not 3 years I had over 100 cysts).
1582478 tn?1296591223 It doesnt always work for everyone with PCOS but it does work for alot of women. It didnt work for me. I was taking metformin 500mg 3 times a day. I was also taking provera to help me get a period so I know when my new cycle starts. And than my dr had me on clomid. I started out on 50mg than 100mg than 150mg. It didnt get me ovulating and my dr would only keep me on it no more than 6 months so I finally went to see a fertility specialist and he knew what he was doing.
Avatar n tn I have been on Metformin for six weeks now and i had a period at day 44 (i normally go 70+ days). I did a pregnancy test the day before i came on and it was neg. But since i've finished i keep getting pain in my breast. It isnt constant but when it comes it's quite painful i've also had mild lower abdominal pain. I'm quite sure i'm not pregnant, and i think it might be a side effect from the Metformin.
Avatar m tn The hazard ratio as quoted in the abstract of the paper was quoted as 0.97 for liver cancer under metformin. that is a 3% reduction, to still a 97% risk, not a great difference. Statins were doing better, down to 35% risk. It is recommended to read the paper, there is free access.
1124023 tn?1261539248 Hi I am 25 and have been ttc for three years, I have taken five rounds of clomid without ovulating. i'm also on 1500mg of metformin which is the only thing that has helped so far. So I went to a new RE on monday and was enlightened about clomid, i too thought it was the first line treatment and safe. So clomid tells your ovaries to mature follicles so for us with pcos our follicles (cysts) get bigger, all of them!
484844 tn?1253968693 This issues has been going on for over 2 years. I asked for Metformin and my Dr refered to to the Joslin Clinic in Boston. My insulin level is elevated, I have extreme fatigue,I cannot lose weight no matter how much I diet and exercise, hair on head faling out but showing up on my face. Unfortunately my 1st doctor told me I could cure this by doing 2 hours of cardio a day 7 days a week. Hopefully my new doctor will help me! Thank you!!
Avatar f tn I've been on Metformin for just over a month now. First two weeks were he'll, so much nausea I wanted to cry. But now I'm happy to say I don't even know in taking them =) I'm waiting for a follow up appointment to discuss if its working, but we didn't TTC this cycle anyway. I won't know for sure until I think AF will start Sunday...bit pretty certain it's worked first cycle for me! I hear for some it could take two cycles or three though.
Avatar n tn About 2 months ago my doctor put me on the Synthroid, a thyroid drug, Then about a 3 weeks she put me on Metformin. For the past 3 or 4 weeks I have been noticing changes in my breast. Shooting pains off and on, tingling. It is normally just on the left side but the right one also gets pains and tingles at time, just not as much. Anyway.........my breast seem to "feel" different, like they have more whatever in them. The also look a tad fuller.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor after breaking out in terrible acne and gaining an excessive amount of weight (weight that no amount of gym time could get rid of). My doctor put me on Metformin 500mg twice a day. I was on the medication for 6 months (acne had cleared and cycles were regular and lost about 15lbs), when the medication stopped working. I started missing my periods again and the weight started creeping up. I went back to the doctor and they upped my metformin to 1000mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn clomid, metformin and levothyroxine ( For PCOS and Thyroid problems). I have never taken clomid and metformin together before. So I was wondering whether this combination may cause PMS symptoms like sore breasts.
Avatar m tn Since 1995 she is battling with breast cancer, and in 2002 she had a cauda equina syndrome and she has limited mobility, therefore exercise is not an option. Her recent tests showed that her sugar is very high (277). Immediately she prescribed Metformin and Januvia. Her body did not react well on Metformin and we switched to Glupizide 5mg once a day in the morning. She continues to have out of control sugar.
1137554 tn?1263237018 BRCA1 positive males do have a slightly higher risk of prostate cancer. Your risk of ovca is 44% higher according to some statistics and 87%higher for breast cancer. This is why if you are positive, you would definately want to have your ovaries removed at the least. Mine was a blessing or else I would not have found it at the stage 1C because I have never had any symptoms nor any problems. There was no indication that I had ovca at the time of my surgery.
Avatar f tn S get to the doctors and take some form of birth control or metformin to have your cycle dont take the chance of getting cervical cancer!! Thanks for all the wishes and Good Luck to all the pregnant women and to ones trying to concieve..
Avatar f tn I found a big long lump in between my breasts. It's been there for about a month but I'm too scared to go to my doctor about it because I'm afraid that she's going to say that I have breast cancer. I'm too young to have breast cancer. I'm only 18. It's getting to the point where it kind of hurts when I go to stand up and bend down. What do you think it is or could be? What should I do? I'm really scared.
Avatar f tn I was able to convince my doctor to let me do a natural FET because I have a good lining a d regular periods ( I also told him my mother got breast cancer from estrogen therapy). I just did my FET today but it turns out that they are now asking me to take estrogen patches and estrade because my estrogen is only 106 ( lining was good though). They want estrogen to be higher to maintain a pregnancy if I do get pregnant.
Avatar n tn I had the biopsy and the report was positive for DCIS. I see the breast surgeon today. It appears they have caught this early. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn t have the answers for you, but, I decided to get mastectomy because I was in the process of getting a breast reduction. My other breast will be a reduction. For the question, ask your doctor because I was told in my situation I may not have to have chemo or radiation because they don't know yet. I hope your mom is doing ok.
Avatar f tn Most breast cancers are not hereditary. However, there are two breast cancer gene mutations, BRCA1 and BRCA2, that can be inherited and increase your chances of getting breast and/or ovarian cancer. Notice that this only increases your chances, and does not guarantee that you will get breast cancer. The person to be tested is your mother. If your mother does not have the mutation, you do not have the mutation.
Avatar n tn This type of breast cancer accounts for no more than 2% of all breast cancer diagnoses and occurs most frequently in women who are in their 50s. Tubular breast carcinoma tends to be small, highly estrogen dependent and HER2/neu negative. Women with this type of breast cancer are less likely to metastasize and have an excellent survival rate. Decisions about treatment would take into account several factors such as size of the tumor, hormone receptor status, lymph node status etc.
Avatar n tn I had breast cancer in my right breast 7 yrs. ago, had a lumpectomy, & had chemo. & radiation therapy for that. I couldn't follow up with Temoxaphen because of negative receptors. Cancer was found in my left breast now, so I had a bilateral mastectomy and no cancer cells were found other than in the new cancer site when pathology was done on the removed tissue and nodes. this cancer had positive estrogen receptors. The diagnosis is good and was rated as a "0".
