I have hashimoto underactive. My new endocrinologist prescribed metformin because my father who also has also has diabetes and my dr thinks I may develop pre-diabetes myself..I have been taking it for 2.5.months now and all it did was to give me constipation. My bs levels are nearly the same. Anyone else on it to advise me?. I am normal weight perfect chol/trigly.
My dr. recently prescribed Metformin (500 mg 2x/day) and Phentermine (37.5 mg/day). I started the meds approximately a week ago. I was told the Phen would give me all of this energy and that the Metformin would keep me in the bathroom a lot until my body adjusted, but I have had neither really. The first couple of days on the Phen I had a boost of energy, which I loved, but it quickly faded. I am now constantly tired, no matter how much sleep I get.
one month ago started on metformin was told i have diabetes but i was feeling really good so now im on metformin and now i feel tired, don't want to do anything not even walk and also now i cant really eat cause im so dizzy afterwards sugar in the 400 cant get an appt at doctor cause it a free clinic what should i do
Also I go from constipation to having runs regularly. Constant indigestion and itchy skin on my back and legs now all round my mouth is red and sore. I have had quite a few dizzy spells (more feeling funny) with a headache after them. My appetite is poor but I have not lost weight although prior to diagnosis I lost loads.
doctor said as my blood count was not bad 7.5 just come in 6months to see how I am then.
is anyone else feeling so rough.
Oh, just checked and another side effect of risperdol is constipation. And constipation will slow down the effectiveness of stim meds. It might be worth your time to ask your doc about something else besides the risperdol. It may be what is causing many of the problems.
Clonidine has had some very good reviews.
I suffer from constipation also. My eyesight is also weak . because of so many problems , I feel more depressed. Currently I am taking medicine from a local homopathethic doctor but still no betterment is there. Please suggest me what I should do .I read about you while surfing internet .Please tell me whether all these problems are interrelated or separate and do tell me the treatment.

I had a CT scan for poss. divercu. which was neg. Report states: Somewhat inhomogeneous decreased attenuation of the liver. Liver is enlarged 26 cm in length, Gallbladder removed. Borderline enlargement of retroperitoneal nodes measuring up to 10mm. Spleen near upper limits of norm. w/o evidence of focal splenic abnormality.
3 months ago my Dr. put me on 500 mg Metformin. These last three months, I have worked very hard to cut carbs and loose weight. Well, I went back today, and my A1C is the same value, 6.7. I lost 9 pounds (I am still chubby at 5'4'' and 165 lb), my lipid panels had improved quite a bit (from total Cholesterol of 260 to 217) and I feel so much better than before. I am discouraged though. My Dr. says that this is just fine, as long as my A1C is under 7.0.

Long story short, I am having some symptoms [irregular periods, bleeding for 2-3 weeks off and on] mood swings, heart burn, constipation, serious fatigue [like struggle to even get out of bed after 6-8 hours of sleep] headaches, nausea during ovulation / periods. bloating, back aches. I'm not over weight but ive been trying to lose another 10lbs or so, and 6 months of tracking my food and eating at a caloric deficit, ive lost 2... My ovulation is painful, but not unbearable.
I had to stop taking metformin completely as soon as I got my pregnancy confirmed. I was taking it for PCOS and insulin resistance. My dr said I'll probably start taking it after delivery and after I finished breastfeeding.
Did anyone notice the post on hbvadvocate.org March issue that metformin can reduce the incidence of cancer by 97pct!isn't it a great news??
