Sleepiness is not a side affect of metformin. And also, not every woman who has PCOS has diabetes. As far has the birth control, it did lighten my period and made it shorter as well. I never had breakthrough bleeding with it. My body reacts to medications very well...I've never had any bad side affects from anything I took.

d like to know if anyone has been given YAZ to resolve issue? I asked about metformin and she said that it was a dangerous drug and some actually gain weight on it (not what i need!). She said PCOS would be helped by YAZ b/c because it would trick my body into thinking it doesn't need to produce estradiol which will lower my levles, which right now are high, and that it will balance out progesterone.

So, I made a decision to only take the Metformin. For me, Metformin has been a miracle drug! Within 2 weeks, I had energy and less hair growth! The first 2 months I had perfect 28 day cycles that were non-painful and light. My 3rd cycle never came and I recently found out that I'm pregnant. I'm scared of course because of the high miscarriage rates in women with PCOS but I'm optimistic. You should really talk to your doctor and convince him/her to do something besides the BCP's.

ve been taking yaz for about a month now (almost done with the white pills) and my period started monday.. since then i have had serious cramps!!! i also have PCOS and i'm taking Metformin, which is causing alot of diareah and cramping and nausia.. so right now this period is sheer hellish... from nausia,indegestion,lack of appitite,diareah, and a period from hell.. this week has been the worst yet :'( hope life is going better for you sister!!!

3-4 different kinds of pills, the patch, the shot and I had terrible side effects for all of those including worse pains, numbness, and my entire leg and arm tingling and going numb. But on Yaz there were no side effects and all my cysts were gone. But remember, everyone is different. Hope this was helpful!

So many women with hypothyroidism, also have PCOS. Myself included. I found progesterone cream and Metformin ER has helped with the PCOS symptoms. Many of us with PCOS have low progesterone levels. Progesterone cream helps to raise levels and it also helps to balance the thyroid. Metformin ER can help with the elevated glucose, insulin, and testosterone levels.

I will be just getting of yaz and be starting clomid in 5 days. I have PCOS and was on yaz to have a period.I'm diabetic and In march i lost my baby in case u guys dont remember me. so that is pretty much my history sorry i have not been on in a while its summer and i'm not on the computer hardley at all, i'm usualy swimming, walkind dogs, garge saleing, and summer things .

s very scary to hear/read what may or may not happen down the road. I just started Metformin yesterday, and my OBGYN prescribed Seasonale. I'm working hard on changing my diet, and exercise! Anyone have any helpful words?

I would suggest to talk to her gyn and maybe start on Metformin. This will help with weight loss and also the symptoms of pcos.

s office yesterday and told the nurse i wanted to try something to regulate my cycles and that I wanted to know what they thought... She said shes never heard of it, and to stay on the prenatals I am on- that was it. So A.) I wanted to know if your OB's have suggested it or know of it?

I have been on metformin 1000mg and clomid 100mg and this month at day 12 i had an ultrasound and was told my fsh level was 10.75 so my RE decided after another U.S. and Lab work on day 16 that he will put me on YAZ BC pills to bring me back down to base line. (I will take this for 2 Months) anyway then he said I will then be put back on clomid 150 mg and take shots also everyday. my question is does anyone thing its unusual that i would be put on birth control pills to bring down my fsh level..

I think if you can start on Metformin and a diet plan, it will work. Start with 5 small meals a day, which includes 3 meals and 2 (sometimes 3) snacks. Take up walking. Try for 30 minuets a day and work up to an hour. I did that and lost 50 lbs.

Doctor put me on Metformin and Yaz. Skipped my period last month so she wants me to take it to start. Im TWENTY-TWO years/ 5'8 and 165lbs. Need to lose weight for my brothers wedding by mid October! Can it be done? Just needing advice. Please help. Thanks to all.

I'm Jovana,I have PCOS for who knows how many years,but I found out that by going to the endocrinologist when I was 19-I am 23 now.So,after 4yrs now,from having zero periods a yr,now they "sucssesed"-I have now two periods a yr.I used metformin for a 1,5yr for regulating insulin, used 2yrs Diane 35 for regulating cycle;and this is what I got: two periods a yr.

Doctor will put you on BCP to regularize your periods if you are not ttc. Usually they put you on metformin that takes of the cysts to some extent. What treatment are you going through?

I'm 32 years old and a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with PCOS with insulin resistance by my primary care doctor. I was having irregular periods, hair loss, had weight gain inconsistant with my caloric intake and activity level and could not lose weight...in fact I was gaining despite lifting weights and a daily walking regimen of 2 miles or more and cardio on an eliptical. I was also starting to grow hair in a small patch on my chin and neck and on my abdomen.

t have a period for a year in a half so I got really concerned and went and he put me on Yaz which I was on for 5 days because I was having major chest pains so I stopped taking it and started back up on Ortho-Tri Cyclen that got me regular having 28 day cycle well I stopped taking the b/c back in Jan and started having 37 day cycles well March I took a hpt which showed positive but blood test showed neg and a week later I had a really bad period and huge clots with major cramping well April 23r

Hi, YAZ birth control pill causes cholelithiasis. According to studies done, YAZ birth control pill increases the risk of gallbladder disease only marginally. But if you are symptomatic, like if you have pain in the upper right quadrant or if you develop nausea or jaundice, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Since I had been taking the Yaz for almost two months straight (I skipped my period by not taking the placebo pills) do you think this changes the possibility of me being unprotected?

i have two ovarian cysts one 3cm and the other slightly smaller, i was already on mirena an iud and now put on yaz to for birth control to shrink the cysts but now my breast are swelling really bad, what should i look out for as for complications, is this safe?

m just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with panic and anxiety as a result of yaz? And have you found that it even got worse when you took yourself off of it? Just today I am now feeling tenderness of my nipples, is that common too? Does anyone know how long it will take to get out of my system? Also my libido had depleted to nothing, how long should it take for that to come back?
