Went in to make sure nothing was wrong, and they took 3 X-rays. One cervical spine, 2 lumbar views. I stood against a white background and she pointed the X-ray machine to the area, but the machine was about 2-3 feet away. She did not place a lead shield on me while conducting these X-rays. I'm very concerned I was exposed to too much radiation?! Plus I am breastfeeding, and my breasts were never covered.
I work with EMS and patient transport. I recently took a patient to a dr and he had to have xrays. We had to help hold the leg due to a femur fracture. Without me knowing it, the radiologist quickly snapped the xrays. My husband was alo in the room and we are trying to concieve. The xray was directly on the person's knee and I was to the side of it while my husband was at the other side. What damage could this have done?? Please help!
As long as you were shielded properly you will be fine. I am a radiology technologist and I get asked all the time about it since I am pregnant. Patients always question why I'm taking x-rays pregnant. I always shield pregnant ladies with 2 shields. The radiation was just to your wrist which is a small amount. I wouldn't worry about it unless you weren't shielded.
I have all my teeth except the widoom teeth were pulled 25 years ago, because the dentist felt, they were useless and could cause problems later. Every time I go, they are pestering me about X-rays. I think it is a money maker for them and I really can't afford them. Nothing was ever found during these sessions. My question is: do I still need them at my age (72) or should I just say: " I am done with that?
No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
The ER physician requested x-rays of the cadaver. Being in a playful mood, and going on vacation, and because I handload ammunition, I had a few extra squished up 9mm bullets, which I slipped in the body cavity before the x-ray (removing them therafter).
I understand when they performed the autopsy they cut up every square centimeter of the body to find the "evidence". The district attorney was not amused.
ve just been to the dentist for a regular cleaning and before I could even see the dentist I was brought over to the panoramic x ray where I put my head inside and she took about 3 x rays. then I was brought over to the chair where I had 18 more x rays. then the dentist came over said 2 words to me and then I got a cleaning by the hygienist. Now I'm home and I did some research to find out that dental x rays can be really bad for you and they do it just for the money.

Yes same as diabetic meds its supposed to lower insulin levels because its said ppl with pcos have higher levels of insulin and can cause problems
My X-ray tech said she worked there while she was pregnant, but always shielded herself from X-rays and her son was healthy and strong. Unshielded, direct exposure does have some risks though; only your doc and possibly the X-ray tech can tell you how much of a risk. I'm not sure how much of a risk it would be if you're pretty early in the pregnancy. Before I had my X-ray I did some research, the most vulnerable period for the baby is between weeks 10 and 17.
I take metformin (1800mg) and yes it has helped with weight loss...but of course it works better with a low carb & sugar diet (less s/e). As with the facial hair, I haven't noticed a change yet... I've only been taking it for a few months (also took it for 3-4 months in 2007 to help conceive my ds) so maybe you need to take it for awhile before you notice a change?
I'm also very curious about the X-ray thing. I had an appointment with my family physician to see about his opinion regarding my neck.
I was having shock like feelings in my arms, (like the odd sensation after hitting your "funny bone" in your elbow) and my chiropractor was doing the neck decompression sessions and nothing was seeming to work.
