Avatar f tn ve been reading a lot about Vitamin D and Calcium and how they are helpful regarding fertility and PCOS (I just googled Vitamin D fertility pcos). In fact, my sister's friend is an endocrinologist (not a reproductive one though) and he just went to a conference about PCOS and that's where I found out about it - apparently Vitamin D is low in PCOS patients and very beneficial to fertility. The calcium is generally lower too, and you need calcium to properly process the vitamin D.

Avatar n tn However, several months after achieving a dose of 1250 mg of the metformin ER, I am experiencing profound food sensitivity and allergies that have been further complicated by colitis, vitamin D deficiency, fatigue, and chronic hives. The fatigue seems to persist despite vitamin D supplementation. I've had so much improvement in my condition since taking the metformin that I would be very disappointed if I had to stop it.
17644752 tn?1458678763 I also supplement with 4000mg of Inositol, 50mg Zinc, 800mg Magnesium, 500mg Vitamin C, and a B complex. I have only been taking these meds since December and have only just achieved the full dosage of the Metformin and Inositol. I believe it may be hormone related bleeding, but it is getting to be way to much.

1660049 tn?1326089018 My husband is diabetic and used to take Metformin, while he was taking numerous supplements including 400 mg of folic acid a day. I think his doctor okay-ed them. But like Christine said, check with your local pharmacist or doctor to be on the safe side. Good luck!
Avatar n tn MUST READ THIS!!! I was referred to a neurologist for my sudden arm weakness. She asked that in my next blood panel, check the B12 level, it should by in the 500 range. I did and it was 0.83! I started a daily high dose B12 supplement and 4 months later it was up to 1407. I backed off to an every-other-day B12 pill and no problems since. Previously I wasn't a vitamin taker. The real shocker? My episodes happened shortly after beginning METFORMIN for a diabetic condition.
2006473 tn?1422033301 I have only taken the metformin twice so far and no upset tummy (Thank Gpd) and I am already starting weightwatchers to try and help me lose weight. I go back to see the doc in about 4 months to see how everything is working out. As for the whole pregnancy thing I was hoping to really start my family in about 2 years. Having children is very important to me so we will be talking to the doctors about that too.
1843973 tn?1326131704 I have tried prenatals and metformin for 6+ months but gave up on those. I had 2 miscarriages in 2008. The first one I was 5 months and the second I was 3 months. Both times I was pregnant with twins. I am almost at the breaking point with trying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Since Vitamin C protects the mitochondria.... then taking Vitamin C would protect liver cells. So in theory, Vitamin C should be beneficial for HCV. On a sort of related topic.... A recent study done to investigate mechanisms that contribute to chemotherapy drug resistance in cancer cells, showed reduced uptake of certain substances, including nutrients such as glucose in chemo-resistant cells. In other words, insulin resistant cells were resistant to chemotherapy drugs.

13126824 tn?1428652469 I have to wake up and go downstairs and walk, due to cramps in my toes, where they curl upward and cramps on the top of my foot. Does this have anything to do with medication? I take Zoloft and Abilify for bipolar disorder. My sugar levels were heightened due to Abilify, but I am now taking Metfforman to level out my sugar level because Abilify has the ability to heighten sugar levels. I am not a diabetic. Does cholesterol have anything to do with this cramping?
Avatar m tn t you take metformin duing you second tx along with insulin and achive SVR? If so, it proves that metformin and insulin, without a doubt, have a positive effect in the eradication of HCV.

Avatar f tn "I'm a little puzzled as to why you all settled on the extra B12 what with the high protein diet?? Usually high protein means adequate B12 assuming a normal GI tract" --------------------------- Several reasons... 1. Hep C causes depletion of B vitamins. 2. Peg/Riba treatment decreases B vitamins. 3. You need B vitamins to make serotonin. We hoped taking B vitamins would help prevent depression. 4.

Avatar m tn take synthroid on an empty stomach, half an hour to one hour before breakfast; vitamin B12, vitamin D and prenatal vitamins for lunch (vitamin A, D, E and K are fat soluble vitamins so eat a meal containing fat for better absorption); metformin with the evening meal. You can switch this around but avoid taking vitamins with synthroid (calcium and iron can interfer with thyroxine absorption) and metformin (can inhibit the absorption of vitamin B12).
1346429 tn?1303874854 When I found out I was pg they took me off all my meds except insulin, synthroid, and oc the prenatal vitamin. I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others.
