801413 tn?1333539276 Hi I to have PCOS and have been on Metformin for a couple of months now and still never had a period and then my RE gave me provera to jump start my period (or in her words clean me out) and I just started before then I hadn't had a period since July of last year but only started to take the metformin in September and then stopped because of the side effects, and then started back in December, after switching from a regular gyn to a PCOS Specialist/RE and then I was basically told that this
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Metformin and then gotten pregnant? I was put on 1000mg last month d/t high insulin levels, my level was a 74 and the Dr. said a 10 was good. I have been ttc for 14 months and she said this could be the problem. She also said if I get PG while on the metformin that I will have to continue it through the pregnancy even if I don't need it b/c going off it could cause a misscarige. Does anyone know anything about this? With my first pregnancy I didn't go to the Dr.
193609 tn?1292180293 I've been researching this topic and have found that it can take as long as up to a year to restore a normal menstrual cycle. Some cases it may take 3-6 months, but I have read also up to a year. It just depends on how well your body reacts to it. And not in all cases is the weight an issue. Allot of women at a healthy weight have issues with a normal period each month too. I know how frustrating it is to wait for your period and it not be regular each month. Have you been under any stress?
Avatar n tn I spoke with my doc and he started me on metformin and povera. I stopped taking metformin after about a month because the tummy problems never went away! (sorry TMI ) Well I used provera from sept 2010 - May 2011 and did not ovulate once even with 3 of those months including Clomid. Provera does not make you ovulate it just induces a period, metformin lowers your insulin and clomid is for ovulation. Clomid doesn't work for everyone.
1564074 tn?1334490908 So I was diagnosed with PCOS on Aug 10 after TTC for a year with scattered periods and no luck. I started taking Metformin and was instructed by my doctor to take progesteron if I did not start my period within three weeks. Well three weeks later I wanted to be sure that I was not pregnant before taking the medicine. To my extreme surprise it came out positive. I was so excited because this had never happened before!
1843973 tn?1326131704 I have tried prenatals and metformin for 6+ months but gave up on those. I had 2 miscarriages in 2008. The first one I was 5 months and the second I was 3 months. Both times I was pregnant with twins. I am almost at the breaking point with trying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn For the metformin u don't have to have a semen analysis I am not insulin resistant that I know of and they gave it to me. I am not sure what age u have to be to get metformin but I do know that my doc tried to put me on birth control and she knew that I was trying to conceive. With clomid the partner will need a dementia analysis. I have been on metformin for a month and I quit taking it because I had a period when I first started taking it and now I am 8 days late for my period now.
1897345 tn?1374265855 Yes I have PCOS and ttc. I take metformin. I know they can give you provera to start a period. I would continue to see my on or a re. Your going to have to be monitored if your periods are not coming and they have to prescribe something for you. Good luck ttc!
Avatar n tn Hi i have been taking metformin 1000MG twice a day and i have not once, had any signs of abnormal bleeding, i did how ever had a very long period while i was on progesterone. i would definetly call YOUR doctor! ASAP!
Avatar f tn Prenatals are always a good idea to take when TTC. You can take clomid, prenatals and metformin all at once. no issues here. i heard clomid is best taken at night before bed because the symptoms are better. I take mine in the morningand suffered with head aches, moodiness, and hot flashes. Next round I'm definitely taking at night to see if there is a difference. many women are going through the same thing on the furum any1 get pregnant on first cycle of clomid.
193609 tn?1292180293 I have not seen any change in my period....my average cycle length is 42 days. My fiance and I have been ttc for almost 6 months but are not having any luck. Did your periods become normal? I have lost 15 lbs since my diagnosis, and continue to lose weight. What is your experience with metformin??? I do know that my testosterone level is now normal, but nothing else seems to have changed.
467970 tn?1207086116 Were ttc, I have pcos and have been on clomid for 4 months. I have ovulated every other month from it. Why haven't I become pregnant yet? My CM is lacking, I have used preseed and veggi oil. What are some suggestions I can bring up to my RE to help me conceive???? Thank U!
1627189 tn?1300655664 I need some help. Me and my husband are ttc. I have PCOS, i've had this since i was 16 im now 24. Almost at the end of Febuary i started taking Metformin. But im not sure how long i should wait to take a pregnancy test. I've read alot of stories about people getting pregnant just by metformin. I was even told by a family friend not to stop taking the metformin she is also a nurse. I have been pregnant once before and miscarried at 8 weeks. Someone please help.
Avatar n tn d give it a go but not sure if it will work for me due to the irregular bleeds. Gynaecologist commenced me on metformin last year and told me to go back for fertility treatment and since then I've bled lighter and more regularly but not the known 28 days more like once every 6-8 weeks and lasts for at least a week.
1442873 tn?1284246187 I am a 21 year old TTC. My boyfriend and I have been TTC for over a year and have had no luck. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome back in 2005, I was also diagnosed with insulin resistance. Since then I have been taking the drug Metformin. I am overweight and recently joined a gym hoping that this would help my chances of conceiving. Lately I have been feeling hopeless and depressed. What are the chances of someone with my medical problems having a baby?
Avatar f tn I was seing an OB and they started me on metformin for a few months than we moved to clomid and metformin. After that wasnt working and trying for a 5 months they couldnt do anything else for me so I started to see an RE and he gave me my options we choice IVF and we are not 3 months pregnant! :) It is very possible you just need the right combination of drugs that work for you. As long as you dont give up and you try different things you will become pregnant!
Avatar f tn It worked on the first shot and we now have a 1 yr old baby boy. And are about to try for our next baby.
623922 tn?1223406991 I am on Metformin, Clomid, Ovidrel and had my IUI done 11 days ago and am waiting 5 more days to find out the results. I was just curious how yours worked out.
Avatar f tn whats the chances of conceiving on metformin and clomid i have pcos ttc for 2 years.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and diabetes, and have been trying for 5 years. I've been on Metformin prior to even ttc. I've also tried Clomid and then had to stop the Clomid because it caused cyst. Unfortunately every person is different so there is no set answer to give you. Best of luck!!!
Avatar f tn I'am 26 years old. ttc for 3 years. I have endo and pcos. With pcos I have every symptoms but the cyst. Husband has low sperm count. Have done several cycles clomid iui without success. Attempted 2 ivf cycles but they were cancelled due to low response. I only had 5 follicles both times and they were converted to iui. I started on metformin 500mg daily and will increase the dose to 1500 mg over four weeks. The dr. is hoping this will increase the egg numbers and quality.
Avatar n tn First my specialist tried provera snd serephine ( it didnt work) then I was sent for an hsg and my tubes are clear and everything looked good and now I am on just metformin to regulate my insulin to help me ovulate.
