422891 tn?1315179920 Was supposed to get my period yesterday (Sunday) a no show been really wet lately where I thought my period was coming running to the bathroom and nothing except for discharge. No breast tenderness like I usually get before I start my period. Could this be a sign? I've had minor cramping which I usually don't get before my period on my left and right side and a little in my back that I'm trying to throw under the bus. Other than that nothing.
801413 tn?1333539276 So to answer your question about the period, I think you should as for the provera to get you started all the while taking your metformin and then go from there. This is my first period since being on the meds and so after this I am praying that things will become a little more regular also I will have to go in for testing in about two weeks.
Avatar n tn hi! i don't know if i am suffering a PCOS...but my problem is my period is delayed 7 months and until now my menstruation didn't come yet.my last period was april 2010?please i need help.thank you!
1660049 tn?1326089018 s due date was very hard to determine because I was so irregular (I sometimes went 6 months without a period)...and I had not had a period for a few months when I became pregnant (I think I had my last period with her in July or August 1989...she was born July 1990). Btw...your dose looks a tad high...what formulation of metformin are you taking? My book says usual dosing is 500mg twice daily to start up to a maximum of 2550mg for regular metformin.
Avatar n tn I never knew that metformin was given to help get pregnant? Im on metformin for PCOS and it also helped me lose 40lbs. My doctor stated to me that it helps to get pregnant while taking this, but most women who have PCOS are on this drug to help with weight issues and insulin issues and also on bc pills to regulate a period (like me).
Avatar f tn Congrats on your pregnancy. You need to phone your doctor to let them know and to see how long they will keep you on Metformin. Some doctors keep you on it thru the first trimester and others don't.
Avatar m tn No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
1317612 tn?1321103964 I have polycystic overies and my period comes when it pleases. sometimes I get it ontime and other times it comes 2-3 months later. How am I to know what are my cycle days. How am I to know when are Luteal Phase or my fertile days or my ovulation days? My period on a normal last 4 days but it has gone up to 2 weeks that's the most I let it run before taking the pill. Have painful periods most of the time when I haven't seen it for awhile. And pass clot blood at times.
1811433 tn?1318611440 You really need to go see a doctor. These symptoms are not good at all! The no period and overweight sounds like PCOS. I have this but you can fin out more info at: http://pcos.insulitelabs.com/Metformin-and-PCOS.php I know it is expensive so try getting some help because you really need to go to he doctor. If you have pcos your period can be regulated by birth control if you don't want to get pregnant or metformin to get pregnant.
Avatar f tn this is my 3rd day of metformin and no probs yet ...is any one else taking this drug ?

193609 tn?1292180293 Before taking metformin, my cycles could last up to 6 months without a period. So, I started meformin and my periods began getting normal. Started off 42 days per cycle, then worked its way down to holding steady at 35 days per cycle. Then this month, jumprs back up to 48 days in the cycle!!! How long does it take for Metformin to even stuff out enough to make cycles consistant? I have lost 37 lbs (17% body weight) and I just don't know what else I can do to make my cycles more normal!
Avatar n tn If it has been a long time since you last had your period, I would set up an appointment with your doctor so they can check things out and possibly give you a progesterone supplement to get your cycle back on track. The progesterone will "trick" your body into thinking that you already ovulated, and therefore bring on a period. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Metformin is not suppose to bring on your period, any chance this is your period and it's just really heavy this month? Are you TTC? If not then maybe your doctor could recommend a birth control pill to help your cycles be regular. Or any chance you could be pregnant? If the bleeding continues, I would consult your gyn and seek their advise.
Avatar f tn i got a regular 28cycle period when i became active attending gym everyday and a healthy diet, for a year i was always getting my period every 28 days but when i stop attending gym and ate again my period became very irregular again. 2004 i was diagnosed with PCOS, was given provera and advised to have metformin. i got menstruated but still irregular, i did'nt continue having metformin as i felt dizzyness everytime im taking it. Now that im 36 i wanted and decided to get pregnant.
400358 tn?1320234443 I gave myself a 6 month break from the pill, and only stayed on metformin...and had 5 normal periods, but went back on the pill in Jan 2010 because my period was 10 days late. Did I ovulate during those times? I'm not really sure...I don't track it, but I can remember feeling some twinges around that time and a change in CM...so who knows. I've never missed a period for as long as I could remember (well except last month).
Avatar f tn I have been on metformin now for over a month and still no period. How long does it take? Does it work? .......I am trying to not let this get me down but i am worrying whether it will or not and when.......can anyone help me?
Avatar f tn i am 22yrs old and i have not had a period for 19months now is my weight effective of this as im over weight as i dont think this is normal doctors think i have polycistic overies but no scan has been done to confirm this so could this be the course of no period im so confused. is there anything i can do as i would really love to start a family.
462793 tn?1206642873 I have not ovulated once since I have started any of these drugs and feel like I am wasting my time taking these drugs if there is no effect. I am getting worried I may never be able to get pregnant. Is there hope? My doctor wants me to stay on Clomid & Metformin for a total of 6 mths, but if i don't even ovulate do I still have a chance? I took a bunch of blood work and they said all my test are good. And my pap was normal. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple months ago (August) After about 13 months of trying to get pregnant with no luck. I also had no period. My doctor said that it was likely due to me being on birth control for years, it kept my cycle normal. once I got off the birth control, my body lacked hormones to have a period. He put me on progesterone to start periods, so far I have needed it for two months to induce a period. Followed by chlomid on days 3-7 of my cycle.
736178 tn?1237223790 Hi, I understand how frustrating this is for you. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 9 months ago and also was placed on Metformin. My periods have never been regular, but it was still concluded that I had PCOS. My doctor said that there are many things (not only blood tests) that can help diagnose PCOS. I was also prescribed metformin due to hyperinsulinemia caused by PCOS. I was told that increased insulin in the body has been linked to infertility in some studies.
Avatar n tn i am worried i was diagnosed with pcos after irregular period my gyno at the time had put me on a cycle of clomid only but it didn't work so i changed my gyno this new one put me on metformin last month still didn't ovulate and my period has n0t returned so he has prescribed provera clomid and metformin has anyone tried the combination and has it worked been TTC for over six months i'm not over weight.
