glucophage

Avatar m tn I am now up to 25 units of lantus and 1000 in the AM and 500 in the PM of metformin. I have liver issues and maybe the IR is playing into this. Anyone have any insight into this?
Avatar n tn And sometimes it has to do with insurance reimbursement. Metformin and glyburide are both relatively safe drugs with good historys used in moderation in with your physician's instructions, but each acts in a different way. Some physicians administer both at the same time. Another school of thought is to use one for a while, and then switch. I would ask him, but the change does not necessarily mean something bad has happened. You can look up the drugs.
604185 tn?1233960857 Well the above statement is not true. Not that your doctor/midwife didn't say this brandy. I believe they did and probably just didnt know. Insulin is the drug of choice if your Diabetes is COMPLETELY out of wack. I have had diabetes with both pregnancies. With my first I took glyburide alone twice a day. With my second, current pregnancy glyburide wasn't cutting it so they added metformin to the mix, same as glucophage, just different name.
Avatar n tn I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.
Avatar m tn while only taking Glyburide So my doctor added Metformin. Three months later my A1C was 10.6. and two months after that it was 11.5. Stop taking the Metformin and now it's 10.2. this is three months later. I'm trying to figure out why this happen. When I ask my Doctor they are surprised, but had no answer for but want to change my medicine again.

Avatar n tn what is the worst that could happen to me IF IM NOT BIABETIC and ive taken the drug Glyburide-Metformin Oral? im experiencing cold sweats blurred vision and hunger. Is this an emergency? i took it aronund ten hours ago and now im still feeling the side effects. will this go away and is my blood sugar permanently damaged? im 27 history of common allergies and no allergies to drugs. i take adderall for adhd. what should i do?
Avatar n tn The tests say that I am pregnant so I am going to see a Diabetes Endocrinologist tomorrow just to make sure I can still take my meds (metformin and glyburide). If she thinks I should switch to insulin, I will. The needles are certainly smaller than the Progesterone shots. With your PCOS, you may want to see the opinion of a specialist in Diabetes care as sort of a tie breaker between the RE and the OBGYN. Good luck either way and with any luck we'll both be new mommies in January.
183933 tn?1290216962 They feel this is more dangerous than unknown possible risks from glyburide. I have read that glyburide is considered very safe in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters but there has never been any study of the drug in pg women that I could find. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and ask your surrogate if she would switch to insulin at least for a month or two. That will give the babies time to finish all of those early developments that can be so sensitive.
Avatar f tn I am eating healthy and trying to do everything right. I take Metformin 500mg 2x a day and will start 1000mg 2x a day in a couple more days. I also have RA, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and Hyperplasia. Could you explain why this is happening or what I can do about it? I do not have insurance and am being told now with my medical issues I can't get insured.
Avatar n tn I take Metformin 1000 mg twice a day and Glyburide 5 mg in the AM and 2.5 in the PM. Sometimes the Glyburide lowers my blood sugar too much particularly if I don't eat something a few hours after taking my meds. As you mention my blood sugar will only be in the 80-90 range and I start to experience hypoglycemic symptoms. Fatique, palpitations, sweating, shaking, feeling of dread...just a general awful feeling. Mnay times I do have a racing heart and a rate of 120-160 BPM is common.
Avatar f tn I was told by my dr it's the best thing to take for GD next to insulin, I have GD too. I was placed on Glyburide first which didn't work and we knew it wouldn't since this is the 2nd time I've gone through this and then put on insulin.. I only stayed on it for a good 3 wks and was able to stop completely just from controlling my diet.
Avatar f tn Definetly report these symptoms to your doctor immediately!! You may need less of the med then your currently taking. I know it's very similar to Metformin and that stuff is hard to tolerate. Don't be afraid to phone your doctors office and report this first thing. Better to be safe then sorry.

Avatar m tn let me know if i can help.....I am type II as well, and take metformin and glyburide to control my diabetes......
Avatar f tn For about 2 years I have had type 2 adult onset diabetes. Food mangement with Metformin and Glyburide. MG. usually 80- 140. Yesterday I was sick with flu like symptoms including a fever and chills. I slept off and on for 36 hrs while getting up to eat what I could. My left foot and ankle have been swelling for about 3 yrs and more so for the last yr as I now sit more at work. This morning I got up to find my left foot, ankle and lower leg with a red rash somewhat raised, and tender. My (Dr.
Avatar m tn I am on glyburide 5mg 2x a day and metformin 1000mg 2x a day and just started losartan 50mg once a day. Was taking lisinopril hctz 20-12.5 once daily but had some side effects that I didn't like. I was wondering if by doing this I could put my diabetes into remission like some of the participants in the Newcastle study did or if genetics might have me screwed. Has anybody else had any experience with being able to get off there meds with a lifestyle change.
741741 tn?1294284010 This time around, I was on Metformin thru 13 weeks and instead of stopping, switched to Glyburide right away to see if we could maintain levels throughout pregnancy. So far my sugars are good with the meds and I'm not spilling so no need to up my dosage yet (I'm on lowest dosage). I'm high risk due to this and AMA so I'm having u/s every 4-6 weeks.....DS is measuring a little big so far, but not scarey big.
808221 tn?1242744188 High blood sugar can be lowered by diet and exercise, by a number of oral medications, and by insulin injections. Before taking glyburide and metformin hydrochloride you should first try to control your diabetes by exercise and weight loss. Even if you are taking glyburide and metformin hydrochloride, you should still exercise and follow the diet recommended for your diabetes.
Avatar n tn My doctor also prescribed me Glyburide. Looks like it is safe for pregnancy, you just have to watch out for signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia.
6452556 tn?1381422100 Diabetics dont make enough or cant use the insulin we make, by taking Glyburide it forces the pancreas to make more insulin. This allows the cells to use the BG and store more BG as fat thereby lowering BG.
Avatar f tn 5mg and im concern about what to eat one minute my sugar is high and then it will drop tremendously
Avatar n tn Are you on Metformin or Glyburide? If you are not you need to see your doctor Asap and discuss a program to get things in a healthy way. Good luck. Don't be alarmed ...you can get it down with some work hopefully. Go to American Diabetic Association web page, they have great info to help. Accucheck has a good site with a carb counter also. Good luck!
