Ive been on disability (Canada Pension Disability) because of mental health issues, for about 3 years now. Im not sure where you live, but here in canada, if you get a note from your doctor explaining you condition and why you cant work at this time, they can get you on disability. I had two letters. One from my family doctor who has seen me for 17 years and one from my psychiatrist who i have been seeing for 4 years.

I have Borderline Personality Disorder with Post Traumatic Stress and Severe Anxiety. I'm on Geodon, Lexapro, and Nurontin. I have been fired or had to quit several jobs because of this disorder. I just simply can't hold down a job. I want to apply for disability but am afraid to for fear of going through that long process and paper work and telling people that I can't work at the age of 28. I'm afraid of being turned down and having no way to support myself.

Hi, As a neurological cause of the brain fog has been ruled out for you, the reason could be a simple one like Nutritional deficiency, Anemia, Hypoglycemia, Hypotension or Stress. It seems you have not gone for the routine investigations. Please consult a physician for the same. Please take adequate rest and exercises, eat a well balanced diet and take good sleep at night. My mother had a mental disability that left her in a child like stage, she acted younger then her age, she couldn't read and often misspelled words when she wrote dispite the fact that she has been through high school, she lives on her own but she can't work because she is unable to read which enables her to drive. does this sound familiar? do you know what kind of mental disibility this is? is this heretitary?

Does anybody know if I can take stress leave from work and be paid with disability? If so does it affect my disability pay for maternity leave?

I want to covey my message through your group. We all know, everyone have stressful life and many of them suffer from mental disability orders. First of all, I noticed in a therapy group this summer that the other bipolars were on disability and using the whoa is me routine. Then I interned with a company that helps people with mental illness in order to complete my studies and graduate with my social work degree...same story. Then I get majorly depressed after graduation (could not find a job, relationship problems, no sunlight etc...) and end up in a mental hospital for evaluation and a med check.

I was diagnosed type 1 about 5 -6 years ago, my doctor and case worker have been pushing me to sign up for disability bennys. does anyone else out there receive the benefits? I feel guilty for having signed up. Yes, mental stress can cause a heart problem. There are disability claims from highly stressed occupations such as police, etc. and post stress syndrome from a highly stressed event, etc. causing anxiety, high blood pressure, etc.

t know if any of you have had to go onto Social Security disability because you cannot handle the stress of working. I have been on disability for 4 years and I hate it. I used to get a lot of self esteem from doing a good job at work. Now that I don't have work I feel like only a half a person. I DO know my limits and that is why I applied for disability - I know my triggers are stress and sleep. The stress of responsibility that goes with a job was too much and I kept ending up in the hospital with worse and worse symptoms. I have rapid cycling, mixed episodes, and psychotic symptoms during both manic and depressive episodes. I don't drink, do drugs, smoke. I exercise, journal, make all my appts, take meds as prescribed, walk, yoga.

We would prefer not to bring a child into this world with a mental or physical disability. Are my chances of having a child thats normal lower because of my parents?

I'm 10 weeks and I work for a group home for probation teens. I get threatened daily from the clients that they're **** me up, I get yelled at by coworkers, clients big very rude cussing and yelling and the list goes on. This happens every day.. I cry n stress out. I know is is not good to stress but my hubby says don't worry just do your job but I want to leave and go on disability until the other job hires me.. which is with the school district. What do you think? Stay or leave?

I have found myself wishing for less hours at work due to stress, and considering this same option. However, I have found that the right medication lessens the stress, so I can work a full week. Work focus our minds on necessary things while making us the money we need to live. Another option would be to find a job more suited to your own personal work preferences. Hope this is helpful!

I put off for years going on disability for my mental issues. I tried to keep working as long as I could. Now, with all these health problems popping up. Well, all these mental problems and health problems are just very overwhelming. The administrative judge next week is probablly going to ask for another breathing test. Allsup will insist on it if the judge does not. And I perfectly fine with that. My breathing has grown much worse since I had my first breathing test 2 yrs. ago.

I have been on disability since 2002 for my severe depression and panic disorder and finally I am starting to feel better, however, I am having a hard time finding a job because I have been out of work too long. My college education and work experience are now obsolete.
