Avatar f tn Hello, If you have missed your periods for one year then it can be due to secondary amenorrhea. Secondary amenorrhea is when a woman who has had normal menstrual cycles stops getting her monthly period for 3 or more months. Causes of secondary amenorrhea include stress and anxiety, malnutrition, depression, overexercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity),thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS).Smoking is also associated with secondary amenorrhea.

They're adults and understand that girls get their periods, so try not to be embarrassed - every female in the world get their periods, it's just a normal part of being a woman. :) Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn My breasts have also felt pretty sore, which is what makes me think that these are just more intense menstrual symptoms. However, I have not been able to eat for 2 days, and everytime I move I feel nauseous. Should I see a doctor about this?
Avatar n tn I am just begging to realise that i may suffer from extreme pre-menstrual symptoms that have begun to seriously impact my life. About a week before my period i become extremely depressed and irritable to the point that i start fights that are sometimes quite irrational. I will argue with my co-workers, family friends and even my boyfriend (now ex because during those periods i will break up with him for no reason) Am I losing my mind or is there something else wrong with me ?
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comment. Sorry you are undiagnosed. What type of symptoms are you having? Have you only had symptoms for 3.5 months? I have noticed problems for a few years, but have never been able to connect the dots. It all makes a little more sense now although I am afraid that they won't find anything and it will just get worse. I had an MRI done a couple of years ago for headaches and I am sure my primary would have told me if he had seen lesions! Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Are there other symptoms present? With underdeveloped uterus, it is best that further evaluation be done by a gynecologist or be referred to a reproductive endocrinologist to check all female hormones like FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin TSH. Other tests may be done also to rule out other underlying issues. Treatment may depend on many factors such as the medical history, diagnosis and extent of the condition. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn If it's normal in length and heaviness then it's most likely just a normal period, if you think it's not as long as usual, or heavy as usual, take a pregnancy test. Pregnancy symptoms are pretty much identical to period symptoms. Good luck!
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would suspect that some of the symptoms are unrelated to each other. It does sound like you might have menstrual migraines. The changes in the menstrual cycle could certainly be a result of weight loss. The groin pain is difficult to judge. Possibly an infection somewhere? If you were my patient, I would also tell you that you should come in for a thorough check up to try to put the whole picture together. Good luck!
Avatar m tn IM 16, AND FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS I HAVE BEEN GETTING LARGE CLOTS IN MY PERIODS BUT THERE NOT ALWAYS BLOOD, THEY APPEAR TO BE FLESH LIKE. TODAY I HAD A SCARE, I PASSED A FINGER SIZED, FLESH COLOURED CLOT OR WHATEVER. WHAT IS THIS?
Avatar m tn From last 4 periods I noticed greyish brown /black discharge continued for a week after periods.I don't have any pain ,but discharge has little strong smell. I always had white discharge with no smell. Last one I had very watery period on 2nd & 3rd day. my periods or regular. my last physical exam was normal .my doctor says nothing to worry.....any idea what's going on?
Avatar m tn It this sort of thing happens a lot or is accompanied by other irregular bleeding symptoms, I would probably recommend an ultrasound to check the lining and also something to regulate the periods. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn If you continue to miss periods, for more than 3 months or more in between, you may need to have some hormoen levels checked. You may have a form of polycystic ovary disease and you may need to check with your provider for some medications to help regulate your periods. Hope this helps! Dr B!
Avatar f tn You also just said you've only had two periods in five months. After pregnancy, my body took about 3 months to adjust back to my periods, and maybe that's what you experienced as well. Give it a week and take another test if you're worried about another pregnancy. If it's still negative, I'd wait and see to see if your period shows.
Avatar n tn Are your periods regular/irregular, or do you even have them anymore? Do you have any other symptoms? Hot flashes, weight gain, breast pain, etc?
Avatar f tn 5cm) they recommended I had a coil fitted which I had 4 months ago and was told the symptoms would go and my periods would stop. 4 months on my periods are heavier and more painful and I'm stil being sick every month ! Any ideas or do I just keep badgering the doctors to test for everything going ?!
Avatar n tn Hello, You seem to be having the symptoms of metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases,PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus. It may be due to worsening of PCOS and you may need to start the treatment.
Avatar f tn There could many reasons that could cause irregularity in your periods. Are you having any symptoms besides that? Heavy bleeding, Pain with sex Blood clots, menstrual cramping? Do you have children? Did you have one recently? within the last year? Hormones play a big factor when it comes to irregular periods as well as things like Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, PCOS etc.
Avatar f tn Hello, There is nothing to worry about as initially your periods were heavy. If you have decreased amount of flow then the possibility of oligomenorrhea has to be explored. It is infrequent or occasional very light periods. The causes could be benign tumors of pituitary gland. It could be due disease of thyroid gland like thyrotoxicosis, hormonal imbalance, pcos (cyst in ovary) etc.
Avatar n tn I found that excercising when my period was due would set up wicked cramps, including sweating, chills, full on gastro symptoms but never actually passed out. That fainting symptom is something you should get checked out. The major cramps with periods went away as I got older. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been having a very heavy menstrual bleeding for 12 days now...what isgoing on with me?

Avatar f tn I have PCOS and I have pain with my periods. I have very might periods with alot of pain and my OBGYN told me that it is normal to get pain with the period. I have 3 days of a period 2 light days and one day or two of spotting. I found this info. A woman with a light period is not gaining much thickness in her endometrial lining during the early part of the menstrual cycle. This is usually an indication that estrogen levels are lower than normal.
Avatar n tn I still have my periods but feel nauseated, lightheaded, and a lot of pregnancy symptoms. can i be pregnant and not know it? are all the medications i use for menstrual cramps not harmful to the baby if i eventually find out that i am pregnant?
Avatar f tn Although i had protected sex on the 18th september and another protected one on the 1st october and another on the 4th october, but unprotected. During these periods, i had an ulcer crisis and i was on lansoprazole and amoxillin, tagamet, pcm for about 8 days. and i had been preparing seriously for an exam which came up on the 6th and 7th, i had little sleep hours, say about 3 to 4 hours and eventually, i have malaria symptoms so i am using coartem since yesterday.
1817384 tn?1316979836 Yes, it is advised to see a gynaecologist. Any delay in periods for more than 2-3 months in the absence of pregnancy would require an evaluation by a gynaecologist o rule out secondary causes such as hormonal/ endocrine imbalances, cysts, growths/ masses, systemic issues etc. After a diagnosis to the cause of the symptoms is made, it can be managed accordingly. Hope this is helpful Take care!
Avatar n tn Does anyone here suffer from menstrual migraine, particularly with vertigo/dizziness? For the past few months, it seems about every two weeks - usually the week before and the week during my period - I get near constant dizziness. Sometime I'll get a one-sided headache, but not always. I usually often see tiny pinpoints of light now and then too - though they're not always associated with the vertigo or the headache.
