Menstrual period that won't stop

Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual period that won't stop

Avatar f tn I'm a 38 year old woman and my period won't stop. The heat seems to make the clots worse. I'm passing some large clots, they seem long rather than wide but sometimes I can feel them. I bled for about 6 weeks at the end of last summer but then by periods straightened out and have been fine since then. At the end of may my period was late by a few weeks and then did not start out normal. Started out light instead of heavy and grew heavy.
Avatar n tn i seem to have the same problem. i'm only 16 years old and my period won't stop. This past summer i had my period through the beginning of july to the middle of august. i dont know how much longer it would of lasted because my doctor put me on the pill to stop it. then they took me off and i was regular for a couple months. but i noticed every month it got longer and longer. its been 4 weeks now and i don't know what to do. the older comments said weight and age was part of it. but im only 4 ft.
Avatar f tn It has been 6 months and I am always fatigued and plagued by terrible cramps that also won't stop. She told me that if it doesn't stop I'll have to explore another treatment option. I'm only 19 and don't know what to do.. if anybody can help that would be amazing.
Avatar f tn i've been having a problem with my menstrual cycle, it's been going on for a year and couple months now, i'm okay myself, but i'm concerned of what might happen to me. i'm going to be 17 soon, and i don't have any insurance, my mom can't cover me nor could my dad, i don't know what to do, i need help.
Avatar f tn I'm 15 years old and I am almost done with my second round of birth control pills for irregular periods, but now my period won't stop!!!!!! I have had it for about 2 and a half weeks (18 days) now and my breasts have been hurting like a mother!! I am really scared about this..... do you think my period won't stop because of the birth control or do you think it is some kind of disease?
Avatar f tn In fact, maybe a second opinion is warranted here. I'd consider that. But that is your best way to find a solution at this point. Have they checked for any cysts? Or is this directly due to the small fibroid?
1582332 tn?1296928465 The cramps and headaches are awful. then I won't have a period for 45 days. I cant figure it out but I too wonder if it is all related. Mine has been going on for over a year. Before that, I had regular periods every 28 days but they were always heavy and the cramping and headaches were debilating. I couldn't function. The week before my cycle the headaches are awful and I also get the same way when I ovulate. LOL. Maybe TMI. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone.
Avatar n tn She's eating food that had Omega3 and some slightly high unsaturated fats. I told her that I'll give her 30 days while trying this and still don't start that I'll have to take her to see the doctor. I'm sure the doctor will want to put her on birth control pills to get her period started. Perhap, her hormone maybe imbalance. She's working during the summer and she had been under alot of stress from school before school let out. What do I need to do, any suggestion?
1218873 tn?1300094816 The symptoms you are having appear more hormonal than just having a period. I am concerned that even if you didn't bleed you would still have the hormonal signals that make you so sick. I took Danazol three decades ago. I put on weight like mad. It causes a reversible, chemical menopause. they have other meds, like the once a month injectable Lupron that does much the same thing - an artificial and reversible menopause. I had a total hysterectomy when I was 41.
Avatar n tn Oh no! Doesnt the "first time" always show at the worst moments? I would not recommend sending her swimming without a tampon - think how horrifying any sort of leakage in front of everyone would be. But 10 seems pretty young for a tampon, doesnt it? I would maybe call her doctor and see what he or she thinks about your daughter using some of those "slender" tampons. I hope that things work out ok!
Avatar n tn if your period does not come test again in a few days spotting around the time your period is due could be implantion bleeding
Avatar f tn NONE of the tradtional treatments worked for me@ I talked it over with my dr and and he agreed to me going on a birth control that made me not have my period. That was about 7 months after my diagnosis and 10 months after my 1st symptom 8 years ago. *knock on wood* I haven't had a flare up since. The 1st yr was AWEFUL for me and wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.
Avatar f tn I'm currently 18 and am going off to college very soon, but I have no idea how to deal with these cramps that incapacitate me for an entire day. My cramps get so bad that I usually faint. For example, when I was around 14 my period came in the morning but I still went to school. Within an hour my cramps got so bad that people said I turned completely white and was sweating profusely.
Avatar n tn I'm 16 and I started a birth control and did it for a month and wasn't satisfied with the way it worked so I stopped using it. I didn't have a period for 2 months and now that I just got my period it's really really heavy and it smells horrible.. I can't figure out what's wrong and it's really bothering me and making me upset.
929504 tn?1332589534 And he found that women once treated for Thyroid determined that their menstrual issues went away. Leading the Dr to wonder how many Hysterectomy's were performed that didn't really need to be done if those women had their Thyroid treated properly?
Avatar f tn That can be due to various causes including a problem with a too slow thyroid (hypothyroidism) or things like being extremely underweight or exercising too much/ being an athlete, or eating disorders. Then a super heavy period after that just won't stop . . . I feel you really need to be seen by a doctor at this point. Is that possible?
Avatar f tn They were coming about every 23 days and a few times 30 days apart. Then last September I had a period that lasted 7 or 8 days and my current period is on day 8. It is slowing down but still I'm having red blood and minor light cramps. I don't know if this has anything to do with my weight loss being my weight has been steady for 16 months so highly unlikely. When I was in my late teens I started getting excess facial hair and went to the doctor.
Avatar f tn I didn't want the birth control to stop me in any way, if that makes sense. So, I stopped getting my shot in June and ever since then, I've had some really bad menstrual experiences. I always had a heavy period. On average, I come on every 23 days and last about 7 days. Bad cramps have always been with me but since I stopped the birth control, I can't stand up sometimes because of pain.
Avatar n tn The heart palpitations that occur before the menstrual period are due to rapidly fallilng estradiol levels. For some reason most doctors don't make the correlation.
Avatar f tn I don't know about you ladies, but I swell up a whole extra sore cup size during the week before my period and my bra during that time period seems to constrict my breathing even worse. It feels like heavy pressure on my chest and lungs. I avoided salt extremely for about a year and it made zero difference. I have to come home and nap after work for the 3 days prior to my period and the first two days after it starts.
Avatar f tn Back to the RT3 dominance....I have heard that taking T3 alone, even if for a short period of time, can increase hair loss. I already struggle with that since Synthroid triggered it (no, never had hair loss before Synthroid), and I also have heat intolerance, which I understand T3 can aggravate. So what to do next?
Avatar n tn I have been suffering with hand eczema for the last 2 years, and have noted that it would flare up around the time of my period, or after eating certain foods like flour-based products, eggs, beef, seafood, etc. I still haven't had much success with treatment - so far tried acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine (which helped in the past), cortisones, etc. Just found what this condition might be called autoimmune progesterone eczema.
Avatar f tn I am also having periods that last 3 weeks, then I get a week or 2 weeks off, then period again. The bleeding is heavy. I am eating heaps of liver and beef and also the blood test showed my iron reserves area bit low, but my red blood cells are in the lower end of normal range. So again, nothing explanatory there either.
Avatar n tn I went to my gyn back in July and told her about my non stop period (at that time it was only going on for 3 weeks) and she put me on Ibuprofen 800mg 3x a day for 14 days. She also did an exam and told me that the IUD (Paraguard) that i had in was fine but the thread needed shortening. As far as the Ibuprofen, this did nothing. So, I went back in in August and she then put me on Orthotricyclen. I have been on this and it has done nothing.
Avatar n tn I'm so afraid with my situation now because this is the first time that I've experience this kind of menstruation. And until now it won't stop. I'm afraid to go to OB for what they will do to me during the check-up. And I'm thinking too much maby this situation is related to my cyts at my right ovary. It was diagnos last August 2004.Please help me with my problem.
Avatar n tn I recently tried the contraceptive injection because my dr had told me it would 'lighten' my period. As soon as i took it, my period stopped for 2 days and that was exactly 2 months a go. I went back to my dr n he did an ultrasound on me n he said tht there was still a little blood left in my uterus but it should clear up in 1 week. That was 5 weeks a go. Now not only i'm still having my supposedly 'spotting' it jas become a normal period where i have to change my tampon every 4 hrs.
217229 tn?1192766004 And if there is anything they did or do to stop the heavy, clotty bleeding that works. I am pretty much headed towards a hysterectomy in Aug/Sep or Oct. My docs want me to try a few things BEFORE the hysterectomy. *I'm like - get it over with and let me get back to life... * but they have to hit all their bases. Anyways --- anyone have any methods or special techniques they use?
Avatar n tn We've only tried for 3 months, but my menstrual cycle is always smack on 28 days. The last period I had was 4 days late, and the one before that was a day early. I have never taken birth control, (I've heard that can affect timing of your period) and I've been experiencing weird symptoms these past 2 months. I took a pregnancy test last month and the month before, but both turned up negative.
