Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual period side effects

period

746512 tn?1388807580 First really funny menstrual cycles. I have had my period for 15 out of the last 20 days. It is on for a week, stops for 5-7 days and then starts up again, decent flow but not super heavy. My cycle has always been pretty regular, anywhere from 27-30 days apart and for 6-8 days at a time. It also smells different but I can't explain it. Plus for the last month or so I have had a constant dull ache in my abdomen that is typical for 2-3 days before my period but it won't go away.
Avatar f tn The bleeding is from the plan B pill. Side effects from the pill are what seem to be pregnancy signs but really are not. Just treat the bleeding g like a normal menstrual cycle. If it doesn't end in 7 days talk to your doctor. You may experience nauseous and vomiting and headaches. It ***** but you'll be fine nothing to worry about. You obviously can get pregnant at anytime even after your menstrual cycle, heck women can get pregnant while they're pregnant. Is it rare?
Avatar f tn I just want a little clarification. I've had the Nexplanon implant for about...3 months now. I've done my research and read all of the side effects. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since the implant, I have also taken a pregnancy test and came out negative. I know this is mentioned on a lot of side effect lists but I just want to make sure there's nothing I should rush to a doctor to get checked out.
781077 tn?1236116699 Thats right, it could be both. I know on my birth control (im on Yasmin) it says if you miss 2 or more periods in a row, then you could be pregnant. And you missed alot of pills, so I think you would just have to wait and see. If you don't get a period for the next month then it could be that your pregnant. BUT, If I were you if your period does not show by the end of this week I would really consider testing to make sure your not pregnant.
Avatar f tn http://www.crisispregcentre.org/education/the-morning-after-pill-or-plan-b/ Your period should be back to normal within a month. If longer than that, you should call your gynecologist and see if you should come in for an exam and testing. But irregular bleeding is a common side effect, so it should return to normal soon.
Avatar f tn CONSIDERATIONS Plan B may also cause other temporary side effects, some of which may accompany the altered menstruation or spotting and be mistaken for changes to the period. These side effects may include nausea, tiredness, headache, dizziness, breast pain or vomiting, according to Drugs.com. Women who vomit within one hour of taking the Plan B tablet should contact a doctor, as the medication may not have not had time to work and they may not be protected against pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The most common side effects are hot flashes and vaginal discharge. Some women experience irregular menstrual periods, headaches, fatigue, nausea and/or vomiting, vaginal dryness or itching, irritation of the skin around the vagina, and skin rash. As with menopause, not all women who take tamoxifen have these symptoms. Men who take tamoxifen may experience headaches, nausea and/or vomiting, skin rash, impotence, or a decrease in sexual interest.
Avatar f tn I do really bad on meds..lots of side effects to just simple drugs...Never used to be that way either so its also made me overly sensitive to everythng..including allergies. But its good to know its all normal and there are millions of us ladies going through the same thing and we can be a little shoulder to cry on when needed. Guess i thought it wouldnt happen to me...lol. My mum had an absolute horrible time of it..i,m following in her footsteps it seems.
949477 tn?1247796031 the effects on cravings are caused partially by taking it at a very high dose, which is the case with Suboxone. I have not seen effects on the menstrual cycle beyond cases like yours, where you never know for certain which med is at fault, or if none are, and instead the person has a hormonal imbalance of some sort. I recommend you ask your GYN to work it up, and try to keep the doc from blaming the Suboxone.
Avatar f tn You could be. You need to see your doctor for blood testing. The symptoms you described though are also side effects from the shot, and just because you didn't have side effects in the past doesn't mean you can't in the future. Our bodies change all the time as do our responses to things. It's best to always use protection in addition to birth control at all times if you don't want to become pregnant.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy occurring during the use of the shot is usually an undetected pregnancy before the shot is given. One of the side effects of Depo-Provera is irregular menstrual bleeding. 50% of women will stop getting their period after 1 year of the shot. The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar n tn Desvenlafaxine, (Pristiq) like any of the psychotropic meds, has a great number of possible side effects, but a delay in menstrual cycles is NOT listed in the PDR. If there is no possibility you may be pregnant, the delay in your period is no doubt due to stress relative to the depression. Since you have only been on desvenalafaxine for one week, I'm assuming your prescribing doctor wants you back for a follow up in a few weeks time.
Avatar f tn I am taking Prometrium (extract from yams)....i have also taken Provera and didnt really like it due to side effects....
Avatar f tn Hi there, Ive been waiting to see if any one has had side effects from this drug. I started taking this Feb 2/08 was sick for the first 2 weeks. First period I spotted for 3 days, waiting for the next one no signs of anything yet have been regular for years. Im 46 and not in menapause. Increase in weight gain thought maybe just being lazy.... keep me posted on how your doing. I just started today first radiation treatment 24 more to go !!! Did you have radiation?
Avatar f tn you should have gotten a positive pregnancy test by now if you were pregnant and your symptoms sound like normal side effects caused by the pill go ahead and take another test but i doubt your pregnant probably just having side effects from the pill
Avatar f tn Hi! It does not sound to me as though the contact that you had would be very likely to result in pregnancy. The pink discharge is more probably a side effect of the pill. If you are close to (within 4-5 days) the time of your expected menstrual period you can do a pregnancy test. I ALWAYS recommend a test! Usually the side effects such as nausea don't last more than 48 hours or so. The effects of the pill on your cycle can last for 4-6 weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I had a episode about 3 months ago of unexplained anxiety, no trigger or history of it.. MD thinks hormonal change, I am 39 years old. I felt a little depressed with the anxiety and he started me on Zoloft at the beginning of November. I have been having the jittery caffeine feeling with this med consistently having to take klonopin ..25mg in the am with the dose as it seems to be works about 5 hours post dose.
Avatar f tn The bleeding that you are having can be due to side effects of the Implanon. You can discuss it with your gynecologist and get it checged. If the bleeding persists then menorrhagia should be ruled out. Excessive amount or duration of menstrual flow, at more or less regular intervals is called menorrhagia.
