Menstrual period side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual period side effects

746512 tn?1388811180 First really funny menstrual cycles. I have had my period for 15 out of the last 20 days. It is on for a week, stops for 5-7 days and then starts up again, decent flow but not super heavy. My cycle has always been pretty regular, anywhere from 27-30 days apart and for 6-8 days at a time. It also smells different but I can't explain it. Plus for the last month or so I have had a constant dull ache in my abdomen that is typical for 2-3 days before my period but it won't go away.
Avatar n tn Your hormones are also crazy right now trying to level off after breastfeeding and could cause a number of unpleasant side effects. I had nausea, hot flashes, moodiness, etc. You could ask your dr if you are really worried. I don't know if you are using birth control, but if you are, your dr. could start you on a birth control pill that could help regulate your periods. Good luck!
949477 tn?1247799631 the effects on cravings are caused partially by taking it at a very high dose, which is the case with Suboxone. I have not seen effects on the menstrual cycle beyond cases like yours, where you never know for certain which med is at fault, or if none are, and instead the person has a hormonal imbalance of some sort. I recommend you ask your GYN to work it up, and try to keep the doc from blaming the Suboxone.
Avatar n tn It may prevent a sperm from fertilizing the egg. The side effects include menstrual changes so what you're experiencing is completely normal.
Avatar f tn size tampon but what I'm experiencing now only fills 1/4 of the tampon. I've read that spotting and disruption in menstrual cycle is a side effect of Plan B. But it also says that it may happen only up to a week before you're actual period should start. I shouldn't start my period until the 21st or 22nd of June. So it's about TWO weeks before. Is this normal? Should I be worrying?
1498386 tn?1403031253 I started taking my pills about 2 weeks ago and since I have started I have had a lot of pregnancy symptoms which I have blamed on the bcp. Now it has been 2 weeks and I am still having bad side effects like; Cramping, spotting, very sore and full/heavy breasts, tiredness, frequent urination, nausea and so on. The cramping, spotting and sore breasts have been bad since I first started taking the pills.

Avatar f tn Need some advice, I feel this jittery feeling is caused by the Zoloft as I don't feel anxious other then these side effects. MD thinks this is anxiety not side effects. I am wondering if I need a new med or a much lower dose like 50mg to reduce the jitterness so I don't need the klonopin. I hate taking the klonopin even though it is a super low dose. Read too many horror stories. Any advice appreciated, thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn I experienced the side effects I was told could happen, worse cramps and heavier bleeding. I am fine with these because my choice for birth control is very limited because I get blood clots and cannot take the pill. However, I am wondering if anyone has experienced a decrease in thier sex drive becasue of it. I am only 29 years old, married to a very wonderful and attractive man, but honestly I could care less about sex.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Ive been waiting to see if any one has had side effects from this drug. I started taking this Feb 2/08 was sick for the first 2 weeks. First period I spotted for 3 days, waiting for the next one no signs of anything yet have been regular for years. Im 46 and not in menapause. Increase in weight gain thought maybe just being lazy.... keep me posted on how your doing. I just started today first radiation treatment 24 more to go !!! Did you have radiation?
Avatar n tn After your HSG test, you should recover very quickly and be back to your normal activities by the next day. If any of the side effects become severe, you should contact your doctor right away. Heavy bleeding, severe pain, or fever are not normal side-effects and should be investigated immediately. While undergoing an HSG test may not be a very pleasant experience, it can often provide the answers you are looking for.
Avatar f tn I hate to see your post go un-answered, but I don't have specific information and can only offer some thoughts. Given the great toll menstruation and pregnancy take on a woman's body, the absence of those can only be beneficial. There's absolutely no reason to think that the absence of a period could be dangerous in any way. Amennorrhea has never been associated with any condition other than infertility.
Avatar f tn I want to start Tecfidera next month, but if these side effects are not gone by then (so I can gauge the possible side effects of Tecfidera) then I am going to give up th eWellbutrin. Dr keeps telling me to give it a month. really? 3 weeks is almost a month. I'm so tired of this... It was good to hear others having the same lasting problems (not that I'm glad you had them, just that I'm not alone).
Avatar n tn I have been taking 20 mg a day for about 2 1/2 years now. I have only one complaint-for me it's weight gain. Other than that it's awesome as I tried effexor xl and on day one had a 4 hour full blown panic attack. Never had anything like that before. I guess it all depends on what is going on in your system. I take lexapro on an empty stomach sometimes and it doesn't bother me at all.
Avatar f tn Some antidepressants, Mitoxantrone, and beta interferon can also cause problems such as irregular periods or 'spotting' in between periods. However, these side effects often improve on their own after several months of taking the treatment. Glatiramer acetate has no known effects on menstruation. If dealing with periods becomes problematic, you might think about minimising periods or even stopping them altogether.
Avatar n tn Also I've been on the depo shot and my periods are spotting brown when it firsts starts and it takes longer to go away after I had my baby. You want to ask your doctor about the side effects. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I became pregnant with my fifth child while taking injections and took about 3 days worth before I realized I was late for my period. I was nervous about side effects and how they would effect my baby based on the warning of birth defects, but my now 6 month old is perfect with no signs of any birth defects. Don't freak out if you got pregnant while taking injections but definetly stop taking them if you think you may be. You do not want to risk your babies health just to lose weight.
Avatar f tn The bleeding is from the plan B pill. Side effects from the pill are what seem to be pregnancy signs but really are not. Just treat the bleeding g like a normal menstrual cycle. If it doesn't end in 7 days talk to your doctor. You may experience nauseous and vomiting and headaches. It ***** but you'll be fine nothing to worry about. You obviously can get pregnant at anytime even after your menstrual cycle, heck women can get pregnant while they're pregnant. Is it rare? Yes, but not impossible.
781077 tn?1236120299 Thats right, it could be both. I know on my birth control (im on Yasmin) it says if you miss 2 or more periods in a row, then you could be pregnant. And you missed alot of pills, so I think you would just have to wait and see. If you don't get a period for the next month then it could be that your pregnant. BUT, If I were you if your period does not show by the end of this week I would really consider testing to make sure your not pregnant.
Avatar f tn I do really bad on meds..lots of side effects to just simple drugs...Never used to be that way either so its also made me overly sensitive to everythng..including allergies. But its good to know its all normal and there are millions of us ladies going through the same thing and we can be a little shoulder to cry on when needed. Guess i thought it wouldnt happen to My mum had an absolute horrible time of it..i,m following in her footsteps it seems.
Avatar n tn My doctor is suggesting Lupron for 3 months. I’m a little worried about side effects and long term implications since I’m surely close to menopause. Are the risks of Lupron for someone my age with migraine the same as with birth control pills? Are there birth control pills other than seasonique that would be more appropriate for someone with migraine like me? Generally, how do people do on Lupron? Is the only way to diagnose endometriosis by going in and looking?
Avatar f tn I got my depo shot august 16 two days after i had my son i bled all the time almost every day for the first 3 months but then after my second shot i havnt had a period at all just sone light pink spotting for a couple of days ive beed sick to my stomach ive had indigestion when i smoke a cigarette i gag and ive been so tired i dont know if these are normal side effects or if i could possibly be pregnant again but i dont want to buy a test and feel stupid when it comes out negative.
Avatar n tn after a year or so, i stopped the birth control and once again, my period went bazzurk after a while without bc. I didn't have a menstrual for 5 months. I had a pap done that had bad cells and had to have a leap procedure done to remove them from the lining of my cervix. HPV cells i believe.
Avatar n tn I recently had an Impanon removed after two years of side effects - excessive weight gain, depression, almost non-stop bleeding, no libido etc. When these symptoms didn't clear entirely after removal I was investigated further and am now being treated for Hashimotos. I'm slowly feeling much better. I'm wondering now if thyroid issues maybe the real reason some women have so many side effects from Implanon?
