Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual period disorders

period

Avatar f tn Inadequate thyroid levels can cause issues with menstrual cycles. Not getting a period is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Do you get your thyroid levels tested on a regular basis? What are your current levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with any labs, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report. Not everyone gains weight with hypothyroidism. To be honest, I wish I had that problem.... LOL Are you actually underweight or is that a normal weight for your height?
Avatar f tn I was feeling recovered from the pneumonia and now started to get concerned with this pattern. I started writing my period down after that period ended February 3rd. On February 10th I got my period again, and it did not end until the 20th. Now 6 days later My period had started AGAIN. I'm not sure what's going on but if anyone has any sort of idea please let me know.. Thanks!

Avatar f tn Hormonal imbalance, stress, certain medications as contraceptives, polycystic ovarian syndrome, eating disorders, vigorous exercise and thyroid disorders, could also cause delayed period. You can do a urine pregnancy test, and if it is negative consult a gynecologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

It starts with heavy spotting and then it seems like a regular menstrual cycle starts and stops then discharge, then begins again. Im so confused and it only seems to be blood on the bottom part of a tampon.......can anyone help me understand...

Avatar f tn Okay well this all started October 1, 2007 I started my period, and it was pretty normal to the months before, until I was on Ortho Novum 7-7-7 at the time. I stopped on October 7 which was normal I varied 3-7days a month. Well on the 12th I started again it wasn’t really heavy but I was passing blood clots the size of a half dollar and the bleeding and the clotting didn’t stop until November 3, 2007. I went to the obgyn and she changed me to Level 28. Well everything went back to normal.
1582332 tn?1296928465 As Pam pointed out many of us will have to deal with autoimmune issues as well as connective tissue disorders....and Hashimotos is autoimmune. Also check into Ehlers-Danlos as well....as there r diff types and u really need to rule this out too.
Avatar f tn Secondary amenorrhea is when a woman who has had normal menstrual cycles stops getting her monthly period for 3 or more months. Causes of secondary amenorrhea include stress and anxiety, malnutrition, depression, overexercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity),thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS).Smoking is also associated with secondary amenorrhea. Avatar f tn Illness, medication, nutritional deficiencies, stress or rapid variations in weight, disorders affecting the thyroid gland all can lead to irregular menstrual cycles. Do keep me posted on how you are doing. Take care and regards!
929504 tn?1332589534 I would like to hear from anyone who is Hypothyroid and has had/has irregular menstrual cycles that were extended and not stopping. My cycle is always normal/heavy (5-6days) except for this month. My flow lasted 5 days, however I am still bleeding @ day #11. Went to my doc and he checked me out, concluded that it is my hormones (which I figured anyhow), but would like to know what experience other have had with this issue.

Avatar f tn That can be due to various causes including a problem with a too slow thyroid (hypothyroidism) or things like being extremely underweight or exercising too much/ being an athlete, or eating disorders. Then a super heavy period after that just won't stop . . . I feel you really need to be seen by a doctor at this point. Is that possible?
Avatar f tn If you did not have intercourse during that time of your menstrual cycle (12 to 16 days prior to your 1st day of expected period, its unlikely that you are pregnant.
