Most women do make the mistake of counting the last day of their
period as the first day of their
cycle, but actually the first day of the
period is
cycle day one. Typically ovulation occurs sometime around cycle day 11-16. The menstrual period is always 14 days after ovulation--if it occurs.
For couples trying to conceive, we recommend testing for ovulation with ovulation predictors starting on cycle day 10 or 11, and then test until positive.
