Avatar f tn the dampness is due to cervical mucus whose quantity of discharge keeps on changing with the phases of the cycle(i.e; menstrual phase, follicular phase, ovulatory phase and luteal phase of the menstrual cycle).. a mild odor which you said vaginal odor is there because of this cervical mucous but if it's very strong it might be due to infection.. don't worry it's absolutely normal.. good luck..
Avatar f tn If you notice that your luteal phase is short (less than 10 days; over 12 days is ideal for luteal phases), then the doctor may also prescribe Clomid to help regulate a longer cycle. Charting your BBTs for several months will help you determine ovulation and the length of your luteal phase. If you need help with charting, send me a message. MedHelp has a great ovulation tracker. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn even on this forum, one dr said they are NOT a problem and another said they believed that long luteal phases DO adversely affect fertility, so which one is it? My luteal phase according to fertilityfriend.com was 19 days last mth -overall my cycle was 2 days longer than usual -at 33 days). Is there a problem wth my cycle? I am 24 yrs old ( according to the software I ovulated on day 14). This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
297423 tn?1212606152 Yes, your luteal phase can vary from cycle-to-cycle. I don't think a long luteal phase is anything to worry about. If the phase is less than 10 days then there isn't enough time for the egg to implant. But you should speak with your doctor! Because as far as I understood it 12-16 days is the average luteal phase.
372598 tn?1256940170 hence the different luteal phase.i occasionally had 16 day luteal phases..mine before i concieved this cycle has been 12 days long.so luteal phases are always the same give or take 1 to 2 days, since sperm can survive up to 5 days this isnt a big deal and unlikely to stop conception,do you chart,or use ovulation tests,if your cycles vary it would be helpful.mc do effect your cycles so i would suggest doing the above.i wish you the best of luck..
1181036 tn?1367368640 I though it was just a wacky cycle because I took 3 tests, all negative. Then October I had a 14 day luteal phase, fertile cm after ovulation and another triphasic chart! Needless to say, I am a little confused. EVERYTHING I have read and heard from doctors say that the follicular (1st half) part of cycle can change a lot but the luteal phase (2nd half) stays the same- only varying 1 to 2 days. Also, I rarely get EWCM but have gotten a couple days each cycle the past 2 months.
1283064 tn?1271483808 No it's 14 days before your period. the "14 days" (or two week wait) is what is known as the luteal phase, during which the egg is released and implantation either occurs or does not depending on whether fertilization occurs. this is a common misconception.
Avatar f tn If I have a luteal phases less than 10 will I ever conceive? I heard if u are less than 10 your body flushed the embryo out with ur period. Is there a way that this won't happen?
Avatar f tn I think they pretty much start to work right away. As for whether or not it was too late to start this month, it's hard to say. How long were your luteal phases before?
Avatar n tn Your menstrual cycle occurs in phases, your period and ovulation being two separate phases. During each cycle, ovulation actually occurs after menstruation (your period). Here's some more info on that, https://menstrupedia.com/articles/physiology/cycle-phases . You're going to get your period again at the start of your next cycle, so you just have to figure out when your phases occur during the month in order to figure out if you're getting your period this month.
Avatar f tn Hey Guys! First of all I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. Hre's is my situation. My last cycle was like 42 days long. I am usually around 29-31 I have never had a set day. Well, I took like a bunch of tests all negative. Then at day 13 I got my period again. This time it lasted a full 6 days. I haven't had a full 6 day period since I was like 18. Ever since then I have had 3 days periods.
212350 tn?1376428115 I'm so glad you're keeping a tracker. It really takes the guesswork out of your cycles after keeping it for a few months. The BBT on CD13 could be a fluke. BBTs increase if alcohol is consumed the prior night, have the bedroom temperature on high heat, take a late temperature, or don't have at least three solid hours before taking your BBT. Keep taking BBTs, because maybe tomorrow, you'll be back in the range as the others. (Keep up with noting your CM, too.
1019279 tn?1252587122 I can't figure out when is my luteal phase.. Here are my cycle days from the past few months, 28,29,30 and 27(january)...Please help..
Avatar n tn the follicular phase when your chances of pregnancy are high and the luteal phase when your chances of pregnancy are at their lowest. These phases are divided by ovulation, the release of the egg. The egg has a lifespan of 24 hrs. maximum. If the length of your cycles are regular (28-32 days), the day you had sex was during the luteal phase (a phase that doesn't vary) and therefore you most likely aren't pregnant.
Avatar f tn ve ovulated late in your cycle therefore making your cycle longer. See your cycle is broken into phases the first phase (follicular) is from your first day your period starts until ovulation and the second phase (luteal) is from ovulation until your period starts. Now you luteal phase is always the same. It sometimes varies by one day but not much. So round-a-bout normal luteal phase is 14 days. So this number never changes, but what can change is the follicular phase.
Avatar f tn (Cycle day 1 is the first day of the menstrual period). I would then do an ultrasound on cycle day 11 or 12 to look for a developing follicle. On day 21 I would check a progesterone level to see if you did indeed ovulate and if your luteal phase was sufficient ( a good progesterone level suggests that it is.) Ovulation predictors can be very confusing, and I think that the BBTs are not a bad idea in your case.
Avatar f tn I had a normal, healthy pregnancy (daugter 18 months) and since have had trouble carrying a pregnancy. My first cycle on prometrium, my cycle was 35 days with 19 day luteal phase. This cycle I'm at day 38 and counting with a 20 day luteal phase so far. I took a HPT yesterday and got a negative. I stopped taking the progesterone last night, although woke up with 99.0 temp (.2 higher than yesterday AM). I took a OPK this morning and got an almost positive.
Avatar f tn The last day of your cycle is the day before your next menstrual period starts. The average cycle length is considered 28 days, but many women have longer or shorter cycles and it's fine. The average women ovulates approximately 14 days before the start of her period, but again, that is certainly not carved in stone. The time between your ovulation and period is referred to as a luteal phase. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn If you're cycle is 29 days and you're not ovulating until day 20-22, then your luteal phase is too short. Most luteal phases should be at least 10 days long. Have you talked to your doc about this?
Avatar f tn Ovulation usually takes place 14 days after the beginning of your menstrual cycle. The time of ovulation within the menstrual cycle is determined by the luteal phase, which is usually 12 to 16 days long. You can calculate the time of ovulation within your cycle by subtracting the length of your luteal phase from the length of your cycle. For example, if your cycle is 28 days long and your luteal phase is 12 days long, the ovulation will occur on day 16 of your cycle (28-12=16).
278726 tn?1201189401 luteal phase. That is the time in between ovulation and the next menstrual cycle. It should be between 12-16 days. So if you know what your LP is normally then regardless of whether you ovulate late or early you can guesstimate when you should expect AF.
342647 tn?1291107933 However, the BBT chart is reliable and can tell you so many more things about your cycle and phases, in addition to actual ovulation. Hope this helps.
377493 tn?1356502149 Both OPKs didnt show a positive result until day 22 of my 29 day cycle which would make my luteal phase only 7 days. I have googled shortened luteal phases and it suggests over the counter options of B6 or Vitex (Chasteberry). Should I begin taking this without consulting my doctor first? Or should I make an appt even though I haven't been TTC for 9 months yet?? Thank you for any help!
Avatar f tn lol, I'm hoping to be blessed with a GIRL.
Avatar f tn please can someone help me please take a look at my chart at the bottom it tells you the lenghths of previous luteal phases well it says 8 and 9 but i,ve never had luteal phase this short so why does it say that?
