Avatar n tn Hi. During the second half of the menstrual cycle (after ovulation and leading up to menstruation), estrogen levels are higher in the woman's body. This results in retention of fluid in the breasts, and in the proliferation of the breast glands. If a mammogram were done at this time, the breasts may appear to be denser and contain areas which may mimic the appearance of a breast lump.

Avatar f tn No, because ovulation has already occurred. You cannot menstruate (apart from those who have a rare anovulatory cycle) without ovulating. Ovulation determines when you're going to have you period.

689528 tn?1364135841 Just wondering if something could be made up for women and their menstrual cycles and women trying to conceive. A good tool would be some kind of tracker that can be added along with an Ovulation tracker or menstrual tracker or just a tracker of it's own to go along with the Lunar Cycle. It is believed by some people that our cycles are influenced by the lunar cycles.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. Hence having unprotected intercourse on the 15th day of menstrual cycle may result in pregnancy. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn Your menstrual cycle occurs in phases, your period and ovulation being two separate phases. During each cycle, ovulation actually occurs after menstruation (your period). Here's some more info on that, https://menstrupedia.com/articles/physiology/cycle-phases . You're going to get your period again at the start of your next cycle, so you just have to figure out when your phases occur during the month in order to figure out if you're getting your period this month.
Avatar m tn then the calendars are not correct. Ovulation can happen at anytime during the cycle, not the normal day 14 stuff that most sites talk about. Most women ovulate half way through the cycle, but then some months can happen early and sometimes late. So if you don't want a baby....use protection!!!!!
586373 tn?1312031791 Thanks for the suggestion. We'll be adding the ability to mark items on your chart in the near future. When that feature launches, you'll be able to mark the beginning of each menstrual cycle. Since other women may not find it necessary, it'll be at your discretion. We'll let you know when it's available.
Avatar f tn Hello, A woman ovulates 14 days before menstruation if you have a regular 28 day menstrual cycle. You can note down few signs of ovulation like during ovulation the cervical mucus(discharge) increases and is of watery or raw egg white consistency; there is increase in basal body temperature; breast tenderness. Also you can use ovulation predictor kits. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn It is most likely if intercourse occurs anywhere from 3 days before ovulation (release of egg from the ovary) until 2-3 days after ovulation. If you did not have intercourse during that time of your menstrual cycle (12 to 16 days prior to your 1st day of expected period, its unlikely that you are pregnant. Hormonal imbalance, stress, certain medications as contraceptives, polycystic ovarian syndrome, eating disorders, vigorous exercise and thyroid disorders, could also cause delayed period.
Avatar n tn Since last 2 years I have very irregular cycle sometimes menstruation is 6 months later. Would DHEA help me to regain my cycle and ovulation. If yes what dose. Hopeful.
Avatar f tn Emergency contraceptive pills can cause temporary disruption of the menstrual cycle. If they are taken before ovulation there can be progesterone withdrawal bleeding a few days after the pills are taken. If taken after ovulation, it may increase the length of the luteal phase and may delay menstruation by a few days. Delayed ovulation may result in a delayed menstruation. If a woman's menstrual period is delayed by two weeks or more, it is better to take up a pregnancy test.
438513 tn?1215703374 Can a woman's TSH level be different during her menstrual cycle than it is the rest of the month? I know there are different reference ranges for pregnancy, but I've never heard anything about menstruation. Before my partial thyroidectomy in March, my TSH was 0.72. When I was on Synthroid post-op, it was 0.12. This week, without being on meds for a month, it was 2.44. My doc is not concerned since I am symptom free and still within normal range.
Avatar f tn s always possible to get pregnant right after your menstruation. It depends on ovulation occurs which can typically take place mid menstruation. Plus sperm can stay alive and wait in the fallopian tubes for at least five days after unprotected sex.
763297 tn?1281379425 The key to getting pregnant, besides general health and well being, is ovulation and regular menstrual cycles. Vitex or chaste berry has an excellent track record in relieving complaints in women, caused by hormonal imbalances, known as Premenstrual Syndrome. It may also be helpful for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) who do not have a normal menstrual cycle. These women thus don’t ovulate or menstruate and cannot get pregnant.

Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced cervical mucous right before their menstrual cycle? Today was the first time this happened to me, and I've been feeling slightly crampy...sore chest....any explanation? I've never experienced cervical mucous before a menstruation...only during ovulation. Just curious if anyone has heard of this? I can't find any information on it. Just seems odd.
Avatar n tn Have sex every third day from the time her menstruation ends to the beginning of the next menstruation, if it comes. Sperm lives up to 5 or 6 days in the woman's system, so every third day is enough to cover her no matter when she ovulates. If her periods sometimes flow for 30-34 days, she should also be on an iron supplement, to prevent anemia, and she should be checked by the doctor to be sure she does not have a fibroid.
Avatar f tn Okay...so I was diagnosed with anemia in November, and my doctor put me on Feosol(ferrous sulfate) in December. I haven't gotten a menstrual cycle since probably 2 weeks before Christmas. Does the feosol or sulfate supplement counteract cycles and cause them to stop?
