4100601 tn?1358967760 Clomiphene is used to treat absent or irregular menstrual cycles .It is used in induction of ovulation and in luteal phase defects. In few women the menstrual cycle is lengthened by Clomid. This is only a temporary effect till you are on the medication. Clomid cycles on the average are a few days longer than the average menstrual cycle length in the same woman without Clomid.Stress, eating disorders, ovulation dysfunction are other causes of delayed periods.

712964 tn?1287076618 In general (textbook) based on a 28 day menstrual cycle you will ovulate about the 14th day...then you should get your period 14 days later. The egg survives for about 12 to 24 hours . So it's within this time that the sperm has to meet egg. Your fertility window is about 2 to 3 days before you ovulate. So you could essentially have intercourse two days before you ovulate and get pregnant. Sperm lives for about 48 to 72 hours.
Avatar n tn Based on a 28 day menstrual cycle, you should start testing using the Ovulation kit 5 days out from your likely ovulation date which is Day 14 of your menstrual cycle. Therefore you should start testing on Day 7 of your menstrual cycle. You should test every day from Day 7 at the same time of the day to ensure the most accurate results.
Avatar f tn (Count the first day of your menstrual period as the first day of your cycle). The luteal phase is almost always exactly 14 days. It actually sounds like your cycles are pretty normal. Good luck!
Avatar f tn this “fertile window” comprises the five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.1–3 Just as the day of ovulation varies from cycle to cycle so does the timing of the six fertile days. Reliable methods to predict ovulation are lacking, therefore predicting the fertile window is also unreliable. Clinical guidelines suggest the cycle days during which the fertile window is most likely to occur, but these guidelines are outdated.
Avatar n tn Keep a calendar and mark the last day of your menstrual cycle and the day your ovulation test is positive. It will help you know your ovulation day for each cycle and if it varies. Also, if you have not been successful, that calendar will better help you and your doctor with your fertility and treatment if needed. Good Luck!

Avatar f tn I lined up my ovulation with today and he said I should be beginning menstruation 14 days from ovulation which would be today. However, that would take my 28 day cycle to a 22 day cycle. He swears I'm not old and going through premenopause..... PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND!
Avatar m tn Hello, The light pink/brown discharge from the vagina could be due to normal shedding of uterine lining (old menstrual blood) or an oncoming early period. That is the reason perhaps it comes periodically. But you should check up with a gynaecologist to rule out any vaginal infection or abnormality. The normal vaginal discharge is not foul smell and usually clear or milky.
Avatar f tn Ovulation usually takes place 14 days after the beginning of your menstrual cycle. The time of ovulation within the menstrual cycle is determined by the luteal phase, which is usually 12 to 16 days long. You can calculate the time of ovulation within your cycle by subtracting the length of your luteal phase from the length of your cycle. For example, if your cycle is 28 days long and your luteal phase is 12 days long, the ovulation will occur on day 16 of your cycle (28-12=16).
Avatar m tn then the calendars are not correct. Ovulation can happen at anytime during the cycle, not the normal day 14 stuff that most sites talk about. Most women ovulate half way through the cycle, but then some months can happen early and sometimes late. So if you don't want a baby....use protection!!!!!
1019279 tn?1252587122 Owlbaby has given you a great answer. You might also want to look at my archived post about the menstrual cycle and how it works. Here is the way to determine when your luteal phase occurs: Cycle day one = the first day of your menstrual period. Cycle day eleven through sixteen are typically your fertile days, and these are the days that you should check ovulation predictors. Many times ovulation occurs around cycle day fourteen--this (ovulation) is the start of your luteal phase.
