1746744 tn?1311536352 Let’s start with the basics; to become pregnant the male partner’s sperm must fertilize the female’s egg. The woman’s egg is usually released from the ovary on around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. A woman's monthly cycle is measured from the first day of her menstrual period until the first day of her next period. The release of the egg is called ovulation, which is the fertile time of the cycle. Having intercourse during this time should result in a pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hello, Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation. Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Once released, the egg is capable of being fertilized for 12 to 48 hours before it begins to disintegrate. This is the most fertile period of your cycle: during ovulation your chances of conception are highest.

Avatar n tn i ovulated 14 days after my last menstrual cycle and had slight cramping 2 days after. just curious as to what it might be?
Avatar f tn m saying this, is because your ovulation cycle matters a LOT when things like this happen. Ovulation, is the day when you release a egg and it depends on how long your menstrual cycles are. The average cycle for a woman is 28 days but it varies from woman to woman. The best way to chart this is to count from the first day of your period up to the next one and that's how you can see how many days your cycle is.
2124621 tn?1335156599 how would you know your menstrual cycle? if you have a period only for five days what would the menstrual cycle day will be? also how would you know if you ovulating? i also wanna know what can these symptoms be? i am have stomach pains, hot flashed, sleeping a lot, and brown discharged. can that be apart of the pregnancy symptoms or something else?
Avatar n tn Most people with regular 28-30day cycles ovulate between days 10-16, but usually day 14 for the majority. Start testing 10 days after the first day your last menstrual cycle and test the same time each day. It's better not to use the first morning sample, unlike pregnancy tests. One you see the test is positive, you'll be ovulating within 24-48 hours, so those days are your best chances to conceive.

Avatar f tn (Count the first day of your menstrual period as the first day of your cycle). The luteal phase is almost always exactly 14 days. It actually sounds like your cycles are pretty normal. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Can ovulation periods change from month to month? I understand every womans cycle is different. I have been pregnant before while having intercourse on the 14th day of a 28 day menstrual cycle. Could I be pregnant by having intercourse on the 26th day? And would that stop my periods due two days later? My periods have not started on the 30th day and my partner did pull out on time though I know that may not be entirely safe.

1436881 tn?1305301457 My doctor told me to start counting from the first day of your period 12, 14 and 16 days... and those are the days you should TTC with your partner... you normally ovulate around day 14 but like Clysta said above... not all women do so that's why my OBGYN told me to have sex on day 12, 14 and 16.

Avatar f tn I am a little confused by your question. to increase your chances of pregnancy. have sex 14 days before your next menstrual cycle. or actually start before then. like start on day 10 of before your next menstrual cycle. that's when you are going to ovulate. if you have a regular 28 day cycle. you would need to have sex anywhere from cd10-cd17. just to make sure you catch when you ovulate. also you can get ovulation predictor kits at the drugstore.

It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Having unprotected intercourse on last day of your periods reduces the chances of pregnancy as the innermost lining of the uterus has been sloughed off during menstrual cycle.
