Avatar m tn progesterone phase/luteal phase this is the what we all call the 2 weeks waiting (2ww) cause on day 28 (for most women) you get your period again and start your cycle again, or you test and find out you are pregnant.
1019279 tn?1252587122 I can't figure out when is my luteal phase.. Here are my cycle days from the past few months, 28,29,30 and 27(january)...Please help..
Avatar f tn (Cycle day 1 is the first day of the menstrual period). I would then do an ultrasound on cycle day 11 or 12 to look for a developing follicle. On day 21 I would check a progesterone level to see if you did indeed ovulate and if your luteal phase was sufficient ( a good progesterone level suggests that it is.) Ovulation predictors can be very confusing, and I think that the BBTs are not a bad idea in your case.
Avatar f tn For over a year now, I have had a cramping sensation (near the left ovary, sometimes lower back too). It always occurs during the luteal phase of my menstrual cycle and only on the left side of my pelvic region. I did see an OBGYN who thought it may be an intestinal pain related to a hormone released in the luteal phase. Essentially, a PMS symptom. No ultrasound, but there was a physical exam, after which it was determined I did not have a cyst.
Avatar f tn You can calculate the time of ovulation within your cycle by subtracting the length of your luteal phase from the length of your cycle. For example, if your cycle is 28 days long and your luteal phase is 12 days long, the ovulation will occur on day 16 of your cycle (28-12=16). The exact time of ovulation may vary within your cycle, because ovulation can be delayed by a number of factors such as stress, illness, diet, or increased physical activity.
Avatar f tn a luteal phase defect occurs when the time from your ovulation to a period is less than ten days. i realised i had the same problem (8-9 days)and i started to take vitamin b6. This pushed my luteal phase this cycle to 15 days. i'll recomend it to you anytime.
Avatar f tn (Count the first day of your menstrual period as the first day of your cycle). The luteal phase is almost always exactly 14 days. It actually sounds like your cycles are pretty normal. Good luck!
Avatar f tn the dampness is due to cervical mucus whose quantity of discharge keeps on changing with the phases of the cycle(i.e; menstrual phase, follicular phase, ovulatory phase and luteal phase of the menstrual cycle).. a mild odor which you said vaginal odor is there because of this cervical mucous but if it's very strong it might be due to infection.. don't worry it's absolutely normal.. good luck..
Avatar f tn s lack of production of progesterone, the hormone that helps build the lining during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Usually a doctor will prescribe a progesterone supplementation. If you notice that your luteal phase is short (less than 10 days; over 12 days is ideal for luteal phases), then the doctor may also prescribe Clomid to help regulate a longer cycle. Charting your BBTs for several months will help you determine ovulation and the length of your luteal phase.
Avatar f tn The last day of your cycle is the day before your next menstrual period starts. The average cycle length is considered 28 days, but many women have longer or shorter cycles and it's fine. The average women ovulates approximately 14 days before the start of her period, but again, that is certainly not carved in stone. The time between your ovulation and period is referred to as a luteal phase. Hope that helps.
551885 tn?1300383822 If your luteal phase lasts anything under 10 days it is considered a luteal phase defect. But some doctors believe that if the luteal phase falls under 12 days, then it is a problem. If you conceive and you have a luteal phase defect, you will have an early miscarriage. A luteal phase defect cannot sustain a pregnancy because the uterine lining in these women begins to break down, bringing on the menstrual bleeding and causing an early miscarriage.
Avatar f tn Luteal phase is the time in between when you ovulate and when your next period starts. Everyone's luteal phase is different, but they typically last from 10 to 16 days with the average being 14 days. Like the other post said, the best way to figure yours out is to start BBT (basal body temperature) charting. Are you familiar with this? You use a BBT thermometer and take your temp every day before getting out of bed. Once you do it for a cycle or two, you should notice a pattern.
216149 tn?1299601438 I agree with the others. My cycle is around 23 days and my luteal phase is 10 days, so my doctor has always told me that I'm OK since my luteal phase is sufficient. During one of my cycles, I had my progesterone checked and it was good, so that was a big relief. I think it would be a great idea for you to figure out your luteal to make sure it's at least 10 days or so. It might also be good for you to get bloodwork and have your progesterone checked. This should be done 7dpo.
278726 tn?1201189401 luteal phase. That is the time in between ovulation and the next menstrual cycle. It should be between 12-16 days. So if you know what your LP is normally then regardless of whether you ovulate late or early you can guesstimate when you should expect AF.
1676653 tn?1391039945 What is the luteal phase? I have been hearing different things and I am confused? What is it and how do you determine it?
Avatar n tn m having longer cycles with ovulation at day 20-21 (confirmed with fertility monitor and temperature) and a luteal phase of 12 days. With my last miscarriage I ovulated on day 20 and had a missed abortion. I am reading about a link between delayed ovulation and miscarriage. What is your opinion and the general opinion among your colleagues? To me the explanation about old eggs seems reasonable. I'm just wondering what to do, I'm scared to conceive again while having a late ovulation.
283175 tn?1295537265 The point of this post was about a luteal phase anyway, which you need certain amount of days in order for pregnancy to achieve.I myself have been in this position, after trying for 8 years, even though concieved my 17 year old no problems.after under going fertility treatment it was then we learnt that a lutheal phase is an important part of a womens cycle.Hehe ark at me going off on one.
350946 tn?1287623615 SO, I am a little confused about something. To my understanding your O day can vary but typically your luteal phase will be the same hense the outcome of different cycle lengths. However, last several months my cycle has been about 33 days long and it was usually about 31days but when I started clomid it was 33 days. So I started doing bbt and tracking my cycle and last cycle on clomid was 33 days O'd on CD 16 and Luteal Phase was 17 days. So my dr.
478651 tn?1208215559 I´m on my 2nd cycle of serophene and have no idea how long my menstrual cycle is.On my first cycle (50) I did not ovulate. Doctor then doubled the dose (100) on I ovulated on march 29 after I got my period on march 9. When should I expect my period again?
Avatar f tn It could be okay, it could be too short, indicating a luteal phase defect. I had a 25 day cycle and LPD. You may have needed more than progesterone, but there are things that could have been tried. But 15 years ago, I don't know what the knowledge was at that time regarding treatment.
Avatar f tn I started to take vitamin B complex last cycle as I had read that it can help extend luteal phase and as mine had been down to 8 days at one point I thought I'd give it a try. Last cycle I had a luteal phase of 11 days but my ovulation day this cycle is now around 21-22 days which if af arrives on time my luteal phase this time will be 9 days. Can the B complex delay ovulation? Is there anything else I can do to help extend my luteal phase to help implantation.
Avatar f tn Hey Guys! First of all I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. Hre's is my situation. My last cycle was like 42 days long. I am usually around 29-31 I have never had a set day. Well, I took like a bunch of tests all negative. Then at day 13 I got my period again. This time it lasted a full 6 days. I haven't had a full 6 day period since I was like 18. Ever since then I have had 3 days periods.
Avatar n tn It would be worthwhile to test both of you if only one of you was tested 2) I doubt that the single strand MTHFR finding is significant, but agree that extra folic acid cannot hurt and might help 3) I would hesitate to start prometrium on day 12 of your cycle. Prometrium is given to treat luteal phase defect, but there really is no evidence that we are able to diagnose luteal phase defect, or that luteal phase defect causes recurrent pregnancy loss.
297423 tn?1212606152 Yes, your luteal phase can vary from cycle-to-cycle. I don't think a long luteal phase is anything to worry about. If the phase is less than 10 days then there isn't enough time for the egg to implant. But you should speak with your doctor! Because as far as I understood it 12-16 days is the average luteal phase.
